Williams Sabine Parish recorded it's third traffic fatality for 1972, Tuesday, on U. S. 171, about one and one-half miles south of Many, at 4:40 p.m. Killed in the two car collision was Mrs. Fleta A. Williams of Florien, driving a 1969 Chevrolet 4-door Nova, that collided with a 1971 Ford Maverick, two door, driven by Willie J. Dorsey of Rt. 1, Zwolle. A passenger in his car was J. C. Meshell, also of Rt. 1, Zwolle. According to the investigating officer, State Police Sgt. Joe Byles, the Nova, driven by Mrs. Williams was traveling south, and started up a hill, and attempted to pass one or two vehicles. She had pulled over in the left lane, across the double yellow line, and met the Dorsey vehicle on the crest of the hill, head-on. Mrs. Williams was pronounced dead on arrival at Many Hospital. Meshell was also taken to Many Hospital, and Dorsey was taken to Fraser Clinic. Sgt. Byles reports that Meshell and Dorsey received severe injuries, and both cars were heavily damaged.
