All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Harris Williams Harris Williams, 82, of Mississippi St. in Many, was found dead Sunday morning, Dec. 28, according to the Many Police Dept. According to Assistant Chief of Police El Patterson, Williams had been collecting debts on Many's eastside when he became ill. An unidentified Negro lady delivered Williams to his home, and told a neighbor of the man's plight. The neighbor gave Williams some medicine and returned a few hours later with some lunch for the ailing man. It was at this time that Williams was discovered dead. The Many Police Dept. was notified, and Asst. Chief Patterson answered the call. According to Patterson, the coroner ruled the death due to natural causes. Williams was retired from the La. State Highway Dept. Survivors include three sons, M. H. Williams of DeRidder, Howard E. Williams of Citronelle, Ala., and Rhodrick Williams of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Alice Treese of Alvin, Tex.; one brother, Luther Williams of Many; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Warren Meadows Funeral Chapel Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Johnnie Rhodes officiated. Burial was in Fenders Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
