All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Della Winn Funeral services for Mrs. Della Winn, 81, of Shreveport, were held Monday, April 2, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home, with Rev. Jack Merritt, pastor of Ingleside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was held at 2 p.m., in Fort Jesup Cemetery near Many. A resident of Shreveport for the past 53 years, Mrs. Winn died Saturday night, March 31, at Willis-Knighten Hospital, following a brief illness. She was an election commissioner for many years, and was known for helping young men without local families establish themselves in the community. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church for 45 years. Survivors include a son, Ray H. Winn of New Orleans; a daughter, Betty Detamore of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, John Varnado of Many, and M. D. Varnado of Shreveport; four sisters, Mrs. R. R. Salter of Van, Tex., Mrs. H. J. Mims, and Mrs. Ruben Goodman, both of Many, and Mrs. Elvin Rhodes of Shreveport; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Pallbearers were to be Jerry Winn, Donald Winn, Mike Winn, Wilton M. Anthony, Martin Mims, and Malcolm Mims.
