All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - William Tom Wright 23 Mar 1956 - Last rites for William Tom Wright, 80, who died at the Confederate Memorial hospital March 15, were held at 3 p.m. March 16 at the Converse Baptist church. The rites were conducted by the Rev. Jerry Schmucker of the Pinecroft Baptist Church in Shreveport and the Rev. Jack Bell of the Baptist church near DeRidder. Interment was in the Fellowship Baptist cemetery at Oak Grove, under the direction of Drewitt Funeral home of Mansfield. Active pallbearers were Sam Shoalmire, J. L. Shoalmire, Willie Wright, Doyle Wright, Benton Magness, Flemon O'Quinn nephews of the deceased. Mr. Wright was a native of Union Parish. Came to Sabine parish as a young boy. He was a member of the Converse Baptist church where he lived the past 10 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Effie Goldon Wright, one son, John A. Wright, Palestine, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. G. E. Pharris, Westlake; Mrs. Kirley Phelphs, Morgan City; Mrs. Howard Averitte, Mansfield; two step-sons, C. W. Williams, Sulphur; Bob Williams, Westlake; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Six sisters, Mrs. Joe Skinner, Mrs. E. N. Haley, Mrs. Frank Haley, Mrs. John Campbell all of Belmont, Mrs. Luther Harris, Westlake; Mrs. Bob Shoalmire, Converse and 51 nieces' and nephews.
