Funeral services were held Monday, July 7, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Many, with interment following at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Negreet. The Rev. Lawrence Hidalgo Sr., Dr. Edwin Scott, and Dr. Kelly Fitzgerald officiated. Survivors include his widow, Grace Wright of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Patsy McCormick and her husband Danny of Many, and Cindy Calhoon and her husband Richard of Mandeville; one sister, Marguerite Wright of Many; one brother, Howard Wright of Negreet; four grandchildren, Brooke, and April McCormick, and Cara, and Courtney Calhoon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by a wife of 52 years, Thea Evadne Self Wright. Mr. James Elmer "Pat" Wright was born June 24, 1914, in the Negreet Community of Sabine Parish. He was next to the youngest in a family of eight children, born to his parents, the late Walker Maston Wright and Mary Sibley Wright, who migrated to Sabine Parish in the reconstruction era. In Pat's early years, he engaged in farming and raising commercial beef cattle in the Negreet Community, until entering military service in 1942, serving as a member of the U.S. Air Force Military Police, stationed at San Marcos Air Base, San Marcos, Tex. In 1955, he was elected Clerk of Court for Sabine Parish, and served until his retirement in 1984. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Samaritan Hospice of Natchitoches. Pallbearers were Harlon Wright, Harold Curtis, Leslie Lites, Alfice Brumley, Joe Salter, Gene Wright, John Curtis, Bill Boone, and Tommy Wright. Honorary pallbearers were Dollie Knippers, Priscilla Wolfe, Mary Veuleman, Geraldine Curtis, Magda McCormick, Doris McDonald Wright, Doug Curtis, Raymond Barnhill, Marguerite Faye Gandy, Delores Geoghagan, Robert Dale Geoghagan, Kathy Alford, Debbie LaGrange, Exia Jordan, Cindy Cabra, Kristy H.
