J. Jones, Vernon Parish Coroner. The death of Kenneth Wright, 40, was ruled accidental by Dr. Jones. Wright and his son, Andy, 10, were squirrel hunting, according to officials. The victim reportedly shot at game several times, and missed, when young Wright fired his single barrel shotgun, accidentally hitting his father at point blank range in the right hip. Jones said the blast fractured all of the internal pelvic structures. Vernon Parish Sheriff's Deputy Archie Lee Martin assisted in carrying Wright out of the woods. Martin said Wright was breathing, but unconscious when placed in the ambulance. Wright was pronounced dead in the emergency room of Leesville General Hospital at about 9:20 a.m. The victim was a civilian employee at the Ft. Polk military installation.
