All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Dr. Wyeth Worley Dr. Wyeth Bodine Worley, 70, prominent Shreveport physician, and a past president of the Caddo Parish School Board, and Shreveport Medical Society, died of a sudden illness, about 11:15 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 25, at his home in Shreveport. Born March 30, 1904, in Gilliam, Dr. Worley had lived in Shreveport for more that 50 years, and had been a practicing pediatrician here since 1928. In 1971, he received the Mr. Shreveport Award from the Optomist Club of Shreveport, for his outstanding work with youth. He served as basketball chairman of the YMCA for many years, and was team physician for Fair Park High School's football team from 1932 to 1960. Dr. Worley had served on the staff of St. Ann's Home for Unwed Mothers since it was founded. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, where he had served in the board of deacons. He also was a member of the Shreveport Country Club, and a former member of the Lions Club. He was chosen for membership on the White House Conference on Children and Youth in 1950. Dr. Worley was married to the former Dessie Mae Bostick of Pleasant Hill. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Dr. W. H. Worley of Shreveport, and Penuel Hayes Worley of Tyler, and two daughters, Mrs. Roy Jackson of Little Rock, and Mrs. Richard Wolf of Shreveport. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 27, at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Leonard Dupree, associate pastor, officiating. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery, under direction of Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City. The family requested that any memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
