Earl Brown was shot by the Many Night Marshall Doug Parrish or Parris on the evening of May 4, 1930 at the home of his brother Henry Brown. Many deputy sheriff Clyde Carmichael accompanied officer Doug Parrish/Parris. Earl Brown was handcuffed when shot. A coroners jury was conducted that same evening with a verdict of justifiable homicide. In less than 24 hours Earl Brown was shot, transported to the Leesville cemetary and buried and no records within the municipality of Many are available.
