Henderson Cemetery Rapides Parish, Louisiana This information is provided to the Louisiana Genealogy Project by Jane McManus. ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ******************************** Directions: On LA Hwy. 8, one mile North of Boyce, turn left onto LA Hwy. 121 (Hot Wells Road). Continue for 2.4 miles and turn right on Red Store Hill Road. Cross Bayou Jean-de-Jean and continue .2 miles up the hill to the fork (this is Red Store Hill). Turn left and go about .5 miles (the blacktop road becomes a good dirt road). Bear left at the first fork, and turn left again at the sign "Henderson Cemetery." If sign has been removed, there is an old small shed at this turn. This small African-American cemetery is not fenced and is located off the road about .2 miles, in cut-over pine forest. The property had been recently cleaned and was so neat it appeared to have been swept with a broom. There are 6 above-ground vaults, unfortunately only one of them is marked. In addition to these burials listed, there are at least 18 unmarked graves, mounded neatly. Tombstone inscriptions were recorded as approached by Mary Parker Partain and Jack Fraziar, Jr. in February 1993, and submitted by Jane P. McManus, July 2000.
