Keys to reading this transcription of the 1880 Winn Parish Census: 1. Entries for each household are in the following order: dwelling # and # of visitation; name; race, sex, age; head of household or relation to head of household, single or married or widow; place of birth, place of father's birth, place of mother's birth, occupation. 3. Children born within the year of the census have birth-month after age. 4. If persons have been married within the census year or if they have disabilities, I have indicated such under the listing of that individual. 5. Also in this census, but not included here, are abilities to read and write and whether or not the individual has attended school within the census year. 6. To comment on a listing I have inserted "mdNote." If unsure of an entry, I have put "?" after the entry. I've written "blank" for categories left empty, if for the majority that category has been filled in, e. g., age, place of birth, married or single or widowed. 7. If persons have been married within the census year or if they have disabilities, I have indicated such under the listing of that individual. 8. On page 12 more than one ward in listed, and this occurs on a number of following pages through out. Sometimes, but not always, ward numbers are given for individual households on those pages, and when this has been done I have so indicated. EXTRACTION NOTES: If a person is listed as a "servant" the name of the Head of Household is shown in order to help the researcher. -------------------------------------- 1880 Winn Parish Census Note A - The Census Year begins June 1, 1879, and ends May 31, 1880.
