All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Don Anselmo Blanchard, CAPTAIN of the Militia of the town Balensuela (was located on Bayou Lafourche near Napoleonville) of the province of Louisiana, has sold a negro named Jupiter of the Senagal nation, of the age of twenty-two years, a little more or less; said negro at present suffering from a pain in his chest and a sore on the upper lip, for the sum of seven hundred dollars to Dr. Miguel Mahier, physician of the Acadian families which are present in the district of Manchac , obliging the said Senor to pay this sum by the end of the year from this date, and giving this for security of the said negro with the expressed infirmitves, they signed it, to which I may certify when it is fitting in this Fort Bute de Manchac, on the twelfth of September one thousand seven hundred and eighty five.
