This debt came from a sale of a Black that they sold me on September 30 of the past year, 1778. The original amount of the sale was write by private deal and I declared that the Black was given to me. I admit to owing 87 pesos and five reales that I will pay to Mr. Fortiere and Mr. Reaud or to their representative on December 6 of the present year as last day to pay. This act will establish all things that the paying process can invoke. If I am not able to pay they can act versus my other good. The 14 year-old black from Guinea named Mand that i bought, I promise not to sell him before I pay mty debt. Of the contrary the pass to the third person will be null. I give all my goods that I have as collateral and I grant absolute power to the Majesty's Justice to judge me if I fail to pay. Being present Fortier and Reaud, we accept this act as testimony and we can use it as we wish . This letter was written in New Orleans 26 of June 1779. I give faith and acknowledgement and sign, being witnesses Mr. Pedro Bertoniere and Mr. Fraissinet neighbros of the same city. ######
