Higginbotham of the state of Louisiana and Parish of East Feliciana for and inconsideration of the sum of four hundred and seventy five dollars cash in hand to me paid by James Nettles of the same State and Parish the receipt of where of I do hereby acknowledge, have granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto said James Nettles his heirs executors and administrators, three negroes to wit one named Nenty about thirty four years of age and her male child Harra about five years of age and a girl child one year old named Harriet which negroes I warrant to be sound in body and mind and slaves for life to have an to hold the said negroes unto the said Nettles his heirs executors, administrators, and I do hereby for myself my heirs do covenant to and with the said Nettle his heirs and assigns forever warrant and defend his or their right, title and possession to and of the said negroes, herein before conveyed against the claim or claims and demands of all and every person whatsoever .
