The amount of time involved depends GREATLY on the activity of contributors and the availability of resources. For instance, Concordia Parish doesn't take much time at all (except when I return from a trip and have a ton of stuff to transcribe), but Terrebonne Parish takes a lot time....there are online obits to copy daily and weekly submissions of marriages and engagements. Is there money involved? For the most part, no, there is no money involved. However, in order to add census records to the parish, the microfilm has to be obtained. There also may be copy charges from time to time. There are usually options, though. Such as writing or recording information instead of paying for copies. In some instances, you might even be able to solicit help from re- searchers. Just remember, this has to be on a voluntary basis and the amount and use of those funds needs to be documented. What if I don't live in the parish that I coordinate? You do not have to live in the parish to be the AFM, but you will need some type of access to records. **************************************************************** If I can answer any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. folders on the FTP site.
