LaGenWeb Archives Startup Instructions.

Go to:
One of the FTP software sites and download a copy . After it is
loaded, you will need to set up the Session Profile. In the little
tabs at the top, there is one that says "General". In that area,
this is what you type in each blank.


Profile name: La Archives
Host Name/Address: See State File Manager
Host Type: Automatic Detect
User ID: see State File Manager
Password: see State File Manager
(This is case sensitive) Be sure to click
on the box that says "save password" and then
You won't have to type it in each time you log
on.
NOTE: some of these settings are already there by default. I am
giving you what I have set on my program. **If there is a "Set as
Default" button, click on it After you change anything.** (then go
back to that screen and make sure it stayed) <BG> Next go to the
"Startup" and fill in.

Initial Remote Host Directory:
Initial local directory: C:/archives
Time offset in hours: 0
Next go to Advanced
Connection Retry: 0
Network Timeout: 65
Remote Port: 21
No settings in Firewall.
Close that window and go to the Options down at the bottom of the
screen. In
there make these settings.
In "General"
Email Address: your email address
Text viewer: notepad
Log filename: WS FTP.Log
Click so a check is showing in "Verify deletions" and "Enable Log"
In "Advanced"
Check "Show full directory information"
" "Show connect dialog on startup"
In the Double Click Action box, check "Transfer File"
In Network Buffer size: Receive size: 4096
Transmission Size: 512
Transfer Rate Display: click the "bits per second"
In "Display"'
Check "ANSI fixed"
In "Sessions"
Host type "Auto Detect"
Check :
Update directories after transfer
Show transfer progress dialog
In "Sessions Continued"
Click "Startup Transfer Mode" as ASCII (that way you won't have to
remember to change it from Binary to Ascii each time!
In Extensions:
In the longer bottom box, should be ".TXT"
In SORT: I have checked: (on both sides)
Sort on name
Directories on top
In your File manager or Windows Explorer, you need to create a
directory named "Archives". If you have a D drive and that is where
you set up the archives directory, then your setting for Initial
local directory: should be D:/archives.
The Text files are in the remote directory "archives ftp" and the
html files are in the remote directory "archives html" In the html
directories there are folders AND files. Some parish table of
contents (toc's) are broken down to more than one page and they are
in the folders. Other parish toc's are only one page and are one
single file at the bottom of the folders.
IMPORTANT:
Make sure that you set your FTP for "text" when uploading your
text files.
And a setting of "binary" when uploading HTML or images.
