On Thursday I received what I call junk mail for the first time. It was from avatar1@sprynet.com. I tried to reply to sender and it bounced back. On Friday I again received the same message, a rather long one trying to get me to send junk mail while my computer was not in use or some such thing. I called pdq.net and since I had Outlook Express they walked me through how to stop this particular company from sending me messages. They filter others, but this was an exception. [This is also the same way you can get all your mail to go to a particular folder automatically. I knew it could be done but did not know how.] This morning I got a message on credit card processing from info@homebusinesscentral.net. This one said how to stop receiving this message, which I did. As I said I have never had anything like this before. Talking to people with other ISPs, I found out that they regularly received this type of message. My question is, have any, or all, of you received these messages? I just wonder if it is that we are now in communication through RootsWeb that is causing this. ruby dusek ______________________________X-Message: #2 Date: Sun, 26 Jul 1998 22:28:02 -0500 From: "Ruby Dusek" To: JOHNLYONS-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <000701bdb90e$9156afa0$981890d1@rdusek> Subject: Response to Junk Mail Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Thanks to those of you who responded. It does not sound like connecting to RootsWeb had anything to do with it. I guess having three messages in such a short time when I never had ANY before made me try to think about what I might have done to be so honored. That was the only new thing I could think of.
