My Louisiana



Louisiana, my Louisiana

With noble dignity, you are 

The Grand Duchess of the South 

Who calls me from afar.



Your bayous and winding rivers

Are streams of endless tears, 

Shed for all your children 

Who have left you through the years.



But your voice will live forever

Amidst the raining tears you cry.

Your siren song heard far away

By the children you bid good-bye.



Louisiana, My Louisiana

With noble dignity, you are

A beacon for all your children;

A bright and shining star.
