SHAW - WAR OF 1812 - WAR RECORD The records of this office show that John C. Shaw, served in the War of 1812 as a private in Capt. John K. Goff's Company of Infantry, 1st Regiment, Louisiana drafted militia commanded by Col. Alexander DeCloust, also designated DeCloust's Regiment Louisiana Militia. His services commenced Sept. 28, 1814, and he was engaged for 6 months. On the Company muster roll dated Camp near New Orleans Feb. 28, 1815. He was reported "Enlisted Light Artillery, Feb. 12, 1815." And on the Company payroll covering period from Sept. 28, 1814, to March 31, 1815, was reported "Enlisted in the Legion of France." The records also show that John C. Shaw, served in that war as a private in Capt. L. I. Barbin's Company Light Artillery in the Legion of France commanded by General Humbert, organization also designated Legion of France (Gen. Humbert's Volunteer Corp.) U. S. Vols.
