I have just had the measels but am well again I was sick about 10 days or at least I lay up 10 days I could have been out sooner but I thought it best to keep close several days after the measels abated. Lots of our men are in the hospitle sick all with measels but I hope it won't be long before we will all be well and leave this place I am getting tired of Camp Moore by this time. I went to Tangiphoa when I had the measels and boarded at a hotel it cost me 18 dollars but I had rather pay twice 18 than go to the hospitle. We lost 3 of our company since we have been here viz. Rogere Lenard & Wilson but I hope we won't loose any more I wrote to you we was in the 16th regiment but since that time the No of our reg't have been changed to the 17th Give my respects to Jo Beard and tell him when we leave this place I will again write to him but not before as there is nothing to write about here Amanda writes to me the house is just like I left it I am sorry to here that but if know person wont compleat it I will be at home after a while and I can finish it 12 months wont be always. I find our friends are few and far between I understood Sam White was making up a company if he does I don't want you to join it I am enough to represent our family in this conflict and soldering is not the thing it is cracked up to be when will tr___ [illegible word] give my love to all who enquire after me so I must quit- Yours etc. D.
