About two years after the beginning of the War I was wounded in a battle at Fort Hudson and was layed up there two to three months afterwards given a parole and allowed to go home where I stay several months. While enroute home at a point on Red River, below Alexandria, I visited a regt. under Capt. Haas and there I saw the said Clark and Deville doing service at that time. I never served with either of them at any time during the war, and do not know of any one living with whom I served. After I had recovered from my wound I set out to rejoin my company, but was cut off from them, and to finish the War I joined in the company under Capt. Haas. At that time the said Clark and Deville were not in the company and I never knew what became of them and never saw them any more until the war was over, but I have always heard and understood that they had done service throughout the war.
