Rudder and Miriam Turner. The family emigrated from Virginia, lived in Tennessee for about ten years and finally settled in Caddo Parish, Louisiana just before 1850. Just before 1850 Alexander went to Texas where he married, raised a family, fought in the Civil War, and died. Despite this he is listed in the Louisiana records, along with his two brothers, William E. and Benjamin J., as a Louisiana Confederate Soldier. Below is the "Widow's Application for a Confederate Pension" that his widow, Frances Jane Tyler filed in 1925. Unless otherwise state information in parenthesis are data filled in by the applicant.
