The purpose of the listing of names is two fold. By researching this Confederate military unit, we have discovered that a number of men were omitted from the Muster Roll records, for whatever reason. It is our hope, that by posting these names of the men who served that we can establish a dialog with other descendants of the men in this regiment. Secondly, it is our hope that we can provide to other descendants information that they seek with regards to their ancestor who might have served in the 18th Louisiana. So basically, the exchange of information is our ultimate goal. If you have additional details with regards to the one of the men who served, we would appreciate being contacted so that we might update our records. We are looking for documents, diaries, letters, military journals, personal histories, photographs and any item that may add to the knowledge of the individuals who served as citizen soldiers. The long term goal is to provide as accurate a record as possible for our future generations. You are encouraged to contact the individual listed below and on each page of the Companies of the regiment. In that way, we can aid researchers on BOTH ENDS. The materials provided here are from the following sources: Muster Roll Pages for the 18th Louisiana Infantry Regiment, 1861-1864 obtained from Jackson Barracks Military Library, New Orleans Records of Louisiana Confederate Soldiers and Louisiana Confederate Commands by Andrew Booth Additional information obtained though contacts with descendants family records, personal histories, Confederate Pension Applications, and military headstones.
