Winn Parish's lone syrup mill on the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Collins, Tullos 
Highway, was expected to start grinding sugar cane Saturday of this week.  The 
Collins will produce between 250 to 300 gallons from their own crop of cane, 
and will also grind cane for several others in Winn.
The syrup mills, along with the farms have vanished from Winn.  A tractor has 
been substituted for the horse that used to turn the Collins' syrup mill in 
the years past.
