He retired from the Village Restaurant, where he was an internationally known mixologist and maitre d'hotel. He was 94 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. NATHANIEL P. He was born March 17, 1912, to Easter Redd in New Orleans, and died at 2 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002. He was reared in Baton Rouge. He taught in the public schools of West Baton Rouge Parish and the Adult Education Program of East Baton Rouge Parish. He was married to Clytie Fears on Feb. 27, 1937, and she preceded him in death. No children were born to this union. He received a bachelor of arts degree from New Orleans University, now Dillard University, a master of divinity degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a master of social work degree. He did graduate study in religious education at Howard University and graduate study in supervision at the University of Pennsylvania and Howard University. He was a minister in the United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, having served as pastor, district superintendent, director of Wesley Foundation, executive secretary of Christian Education and director of Peoples Community Center, New Orleans. He was bass soloist with the famous Louisiana Bards Male Chorus of New Orleans University, which toured Louisiana Methodist churches and sang six times at the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago. He performed at the reception for Olin Downs, music editor of the New York Times, and Cecil B. DeMille, Hollywood movie producer. He had voice tutelage under Marian Walker, teacher and director of the chorus, as well as under Les Williams, director of the National Academy of Music in Washington, D.C. He sang locally in Louisiana Methodist churches and at other various engagements. He leaves to cherish his memory one sister-in-law, Mildred Fears Thomas of Chicago; and nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her mother, Josie Robertson; and a brother, James H. Banks. BELTON, ADA Dr. Ada Belton passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at her residence in Hattiesburg, Miss. She was 59. A service of memory is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Hall-Fairley's Mortuary, Hattiesburg. A fellowship hour will follow the service.
