                      JERE GREEN 

Jere Green is quite a unique character among
colored pioneer settlers of East Carroll Parish.
Born August 1841 at Port Gipson, Mississippi.
He came to East Carroll Parish, La. when 12 years old.
He became a slave on the now Midland Plantation on
which he has been a resident for 53 years. He is liked
by all who know him for his quiet peaceable habits.
