A retired longshoreman and crane operator and a resident and native of Pine Grove, he departed this life Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at St. Helena Parish Hospital, Greensburg. He was 85 and a former longtime resident of Los Angeles. Visiting at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home Inc., 7803 Florida Blvd., Denham Springs, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Religious services at St. Joseph Baptist Church, Pine Grove, at 1 p.m. Sat-urday, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Combs. Interment in Claiborne Chapel Cemetery, Pine Grove. Survived by a sister, Sally Edwards, Amite; two brothers, Hosea Jackson, Pine Grove, and Joe Nathan "Jonathan" Seals, Los Angeles; a son-in-law; a brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his wife, mother, two children and two brothers.
