B. Plunkett, logging contractor, and the other an employee at the Mansfield Hardwood Lumber Company saw mill. Dalton "Coony" Wyatt, about 65 years old, a widely-known negro, who was well thought of by white and colored, was instantly killed when crushed between two logs Wednesday morning a mile and a half east of Cypress Creek Church in Ward Four. A log truck had just been loaded and when a log rolled off, Wyatt stepped forward to hook the grabs on it to raise it back in place. Another log fell and crushed his head between the two. Mr. Plunkett said that Wyatt had been working in the woods industry for more than 40 years and was a faithful employee. The other fatality was Joe Price, 65, who died in the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria last week as a result of injuries received in an accident more than a week earlier. He suffered a broken leg when a log fell off a buggy and struck him.
