LOUISIANA SOLDIERS Killed in the First and Second Battles of Manassas Buried in Manassas Cemetery, Warrenton, Fauquier County, Virginia Fauquier County, Virginia - MANASSAS CEMETERY, WARRENTON, VA Confederate Soldiers Killed in the First and Second Battles of Manassas Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by Denise (Kirkland) Smiley - MDSMILEY@prodigy.net ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The following is a list of the 520 heretofore unknown Confederate soldiers who died in the FIRST and SECOND Battles of Manassas. This listing would not be possibly, if it wasn't for Mr. Robert Smith, who for years has searched for the burial site of one of his civil war ancestors. Mr. Smith found this listing in a dusty box while doing research in the National Archives. Coincidentally, a memorial naming ALL of them is being dedicated at the Warrenton, VA, cemetery. The Black Horse Chapter of the UDC took this project on and donations, to put it mildly have been lacking. So one of their members took out a personal loan of $140,000 to ensure that the monument would become a reality. Donations of ANY amount are welcome. Donations of $1,000 or more will be displayed on a special commemorative plaque alongside the Memorial Wall. If you find your ancestor's name in the lists to follow, PLEASE consider making a donation to the monument fund at this address: To Name the Fallen P.O. Box 1006 Warrenton, VA 20188 Also, you might enjoy visiting the site for the Manassas Memorial Project located at . It includes a very good history of the fallen soldiers that are buried there.
