The petition of Daniel Colvin, Sr. a resident of your said Parish and State withrespect represents unto your Honor, that Susan Huey, alias Colvin the wife of your Petitioner, departed this life in the month of October in 1840 leaving a considerable amount of Property situated in said parish and State and the following personal are heirs and interest­ed therein;, Jeptha Colvin, Daniel Colvin Jr. and Susan Coonse., the wife of James Coonse, John Johnson aged about 22 years, Daniel Johnson aged about 20, Dorcas Johnson wife of Martin Turner aged about 15 years Betsy Johnson about 12 years, representing the mother Sarah Colvin Dec. late wife of Bob Johnson and daughter of your petitioner and said Susan Colvin Deceased. Your petitioner represents that Susan Huey Deceased, the wife of your petitioner as aforesaid left considerable property real and personal - the separate property and community property with your petitioner. The separate property consist of the following named Negroes to Wit: a Negro woman named Charity and her eight children, 1. Lucy 2. Sun 3. Rachel 4. Burr 5. Matilda 6. Sarah 7. Jane 8 James being the same property that the wife of your petitioner, obtained and received from the Estate of her father James Huey Sr. by act of petition and division of said Huey Estate. Amongst his children on the 26th of January 1822, Prefred and done, in the Parish of Ouachita of which the present parish of Union then formed a part. Your petitioner represents that the Negro man named Bill Allick and Shadrack, and the Negro woman Aggie, Sofphia, Flosa, and her child Ann and her two children Mary Ann and Clarripa community property between your petitioner and Susan Huey Deceased. Beside other property consisting of cattle, horses and farming utensils and rights and credits where of your petitioner Prays that he be duly and legally appointed administrator and confirmed in the same, and that your petitioner be appointed Tutor to the Minor children Daniel and Betsy Johnson and that under tutor be appointed as the Law requires and for all such and further relief as the nature of the case may require. Your petitioner prays that a true faithful inventory of the property aforesaid be taken as the Law requires and for all further relief as in duty Borne. H. Daniel Colvin Petition State of Louisiana, Parish of Union: It is ordered that an Inventory of the real and persons property of said Susan Huey Alias Colvin, deceased be made in accordance with the prayer of the above petition and that Daniel Colvin Sr. be appointed administrator of the said Estate upon taking the Oath and giving the Security as prescribed by Law and it is further ordered that Daniel Colvin Sr. be appointed tutor to the Minor children Daniel Johnson and Betsy Johnson and that John Stow be appointed under tutor to the minor Betsy Johnson as prayed for in the above petition and that letters upon hence as prayed for done and signed this 29th day of January A.D. 1841. D. 1841, that I John Taylor Parish Judge and Exo Officio notary public in and for said Parish and State having received official information of the Death of Susan Huey, the wife of Daniel Colvin Sr. who departed this life interstate on or about the 4th of October 1840. Leaving the following children (Major & Minor) issue by her marriage to said Daniel Colvin Sr. Major heirs to wit: Jeptha Colvin, Daniel Colvin Jr., Susan Coonse the wife of James Coonse, and Sarah Colvin, alias the wife of Bob Johnson now dead, and represented by her children, as follows John ,Johnson aged about 22 years, Dorcas Johnson wife of Martin Turner, Daniel Johnson aged about 20 years, Betsy Johnson aged about 12 years, besides leaving a considerable amount of Property real and personal, separate Community Property as follows, rights and credits, goods and chattels lands and Tencumity, and for the purpose of making and inventory and appraisement of all the property composing said decedents estate, I have on the day aforesaid at the special instance of Daniel Colvin Sr. repaired to the house of Daniel Colvin Sr. the husband of said deceased for the purpose as aforesaid appointed and residents and free holder of said Parish appraisers to appraiser, said decedents Estates and who after being will and duly sworn by me said Judge will herin proceded as follows together with Daniel Colvin Sr. who give in the Property and me Judge in presence of the undersigned Milnefoes to Wit.
