Eckles, dec. State of Louisiana, Sixth District Court, Parish of West Baton Rouge be it remembered that on this 21st day of April, AD, 1859, I Sheriff of the Parish and State aforesaid, by virtue of a commission to me directed, in the above numbered and entitled Succession fromm the 6th District Court, for the Parish of West Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana, and dated the 11th day of March, 1859, and pursuant to public notices, duly given in English and in French, for more than thirty days, in the "Sugar Planter", a newspaper printed in this Parish, did proceed to the last place of residence of the deceased, in this parish, in order to sell at Public Auction, to the last and highest bidder, all the hereinafter described property belonging to said Successors, on the following terms and conditions, to-wit: The moveable effects, to be sold for cash. The Slaves to be sold, one fourth cash, on the day of Sale, and the balance on three equal installments, payable on the first day of March of the years 1860, 1861 and 1862. The home to be sold payable in three equal installments, payable on the first day of March as the other notes, 1860, 1861, & 1862, the purchasers of the land and Slaves to furnish their Notes, endorsed to the satisfaction of the Tutrix, payable at the Office of the Recorder of the Parish, bearing eight-percent interest-after due till paid and special mortgage with vendor's privelige retained on the land and Slaves, till the full and final payment thereof - which terms and conditions having been announced to the people assembled, and the hour being Eleven of the Clock A M the Sale was commenced and the adjudication made in the following manner to-wit: A certain Tract of Land situated in the Parish, designated as the south West Quarter of Section No. Eight, in Township Six of Range 11 East, containing One Hundred Sixty Acres, was adjudicated to Widow Wm. E. Eckles, as security, She coming forward and complying with the terms and conditions of the Sale, for the sum of Twenty-five hundred Dollars. Attest: Signed Aurore Babin T. Bergeron Chas. J. Smith Dick, negro man aged about 28 years (not guaranteed as to health) was adjudicated to James L. Lobdell, with John A. Bird as security, he coming forward and complying with the terms and conditions of the Sale, for the sum of Fourteen Hundred Fifty Dollars. Attest: Signed James L. Lobdell Hy. Sarradet P. Bauer Bill, negro man aged about 60 years was adjudicated to H. H. Germany, with George N. Hamilton as security, he coming forward and complying with the terms and conditions of the Sale, for the sum of Five Hundred and Twenty Dollars. Attest: Signed H. H. Germany T. Bergeron Lem P. Day Maria, Negro woman aged about 21 years and her two children Frank aged 4 years and Frances aged 2 years were adjudicated L. P. Day with (omitted) as security, he coming forward and complying with the terms and conditions of the Sale, for the sum of Twenty-one Hundred Five Dollars. Attest: Signed Lem P. Day L. E. Bourg T.
