They found it in Mortgage Book 16, pages 23-25 in the Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana Courthouse. No. 485 Succession of Henry Sheridan, Sale of Itemoveably (Inventory?) State of Louisiana, Parish of Natchitoches, ____: Be it remembered that on this fourteenth day of April in the year one thousand eighteen hundred and twenty five, after due advertisement made in conformity with an order of the hon. the Court of Probates of said Parish of ___ the fifteenth day of March last, I, Hugh McGuffin, a Justice of the Peace in and for said Parish, being specially authorised thereto by the Parish Judge of said Parish, did repair to the residence of the late Henry Sheridan, deceased, and did proceed to make sale of the real estate and slaves belonging to the succession of said decedent, the heirs of said decedent or their representatives, to wit, John Sheridan, Sarah Carroll and Wm Carroll, her husband, Rebecca Lum and John Lum, her husband, Mary Widow Earls, Elizabeth Parrott and Lattney Parrott, her husband, and H. F. Rublicun (Deblicun?), Esq., attorney of Anna McLean, an absent heir, being present, and waiving all manner of exceptions to any informality in the said sale, as more fully will appear by their signatures hereto; and did proclaim the terms of sale to be as follows, viz: a credit of one year, purchaser giving approved collateral and security with mortgage when the said property was adjudged as follows, viz: The right of Henry Sheridan, deceased, to the improvements whereon his residence situated near the ____being offered for sale, John Sheridan appeared and protested against the sale, claiming the said improvements as his own and John Sibley by his attorney I. G. Holtham also appeared and protested against the sale, claiming the said improvement as his own, and the said protests having been publicly heard, the said right was adjudged to Mary Earls for the sum of Two hundred and Sixty five dollars and fifty cents .........$265.50. The mulatto girl named Phebe, aged about fifteen years, was exposed for sale for cash, to pay legal charges, and was adjudged to William Carroll for the sum of four hundred dollars - said Carroll agreeing to pay all the doctors bills and judges fees .... $400.00 The Negro woman slave Jenny, aged about forty years, was adjudged to Mrs. Rebecca Lum for the price of two hundred and fifty two dollars.............$252.00 The mulatto girl Sukey, aged about seventeen years, adjudged to John Sheridan for the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars and fifty cents ............$550.50 The mulatto boy Charles, aged about ___ years was adjudged to John Durst for the sum of three hundred and thirty six dollars ......... $336.00
