May 14, 1888 - Monday: Due to legal delays and no answer filed, a default was entered against all the defendents except Richard Labranche. May 18, 1888 - Friday: The default was set aside concerning Hy. Labranche. The default was set aside and the suit discontinued as to the defendents Theresa Labranche and James Thibaut, her husband. Attorney for Plaintiff offered in evidence: 1. Citations and returns served on Hy. Labranche, Athenais Brown, Widow B. S. Labranche, Berthe Labranche, Lucie Labranche, Widow Emma de Labarre and Mrs. Louise Labarre & Pierre Labarre, her husband. 2. Act of Procuration between some of the said defendents to B. S. Labranche, marked 'A' 3. Power of Attorney by Emma de LaBarre before Doriocourt, a Notary in New Orleans to B. S. Labranche, marked 'B' 4. Note sued upon and the several endorsements by the defendents. 5. Copy of Mortgage securing said note and Certificate of Recordation and of Reinscription. Judgement: In favor of the Plaintiff and against the Defendents, Henriette Labranche, Athenais Brown, widow of the late Similien Labranche, Berthe Labranche, Lucie Labranche, widow Emma de LaBarre, Mistress Louise LaBarre & Pierre Labarre, her husband to pay to Plaintiff $2000. with 8% interest from Feb. 4, 1874 until paid and costs with recognition of mortgage on...a certain tract of land situated in St. Charles Parish and St. John Parish...situated in the rear of the plant, formerly belonging to the late Pierre Trepagnier. Also a back or double concession situated in the rear of the plant of S. Labranche known as the Gypsy Place. The case as to the Defendent, Hy. Labranche was fixed for trial for Thursday, 24th. May 19, 1888 - Saturday: Case reassigned for Monday, 28th. (I have no more information about this case).
