On Christmas morning a colored man by the name of William Young,
(alias Colfax,) shot his wife in the back with a double barrel
shot gun.  The cause has not been ascertained yet, and the
fugitive has not been caught.  It is said that the woman is
dangerously wounded.  The shooting occurred about two miles above
Hahnville.
