She was 85. Granier was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph J. Bossier; her parents: Emilien and Delia Schmidt Granier; brothers: Eddie, Norman, Emile, Jack, Antoine "Claude", and Melvin "Cotton" Granier; and her sister: Esther Jacobs. She is survived by her brother Clifton Granier. Granier was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir and Ladies Altar Society. A Mass of Christian Burial was held this past Monday at St. Anthony's. Interment was in St. Charles Cemetery in Luling. =========================== Bourgeois, Noah Noah Adam Bourgeois died Tuesday, August 7. He was 83. A native of Larose, he was a resident of Paradis. Bourgeois was the husband of the late Gertrude Cecile Plaisance Bourgeois. He is survived by his son Noah Joseph Bourgeois, Jr., two daughters: Anna Mae T. Breaux and Alice C. Fonseca, both of Des Allemands. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren. Bourgeois was preceded in death by his parents Edmond and Pauline Autin Bourgeois, his son Gene Adam Bourgeois, his daughter Eve M. Bourgeois, and his sister Edna V Richoux. A religious service took place yesterday at the Assembly of God Church and Sunset Cemetery in Bayou Gauche. Samart Funeral Home in Houma was in charge of arrangements. =========================== Jaquillard, Henry C. Henry "Hank" C. Jaquillard, a retired employee of Union Carbide, died Friday, August 17, 2001 of cancer at his home. He was 57. Mr. Jaquillard was born in New Orleans and lived in Hahnville for 30 years. He was the son of the late Alvin Jaquillard and the late Louise Morgan Gogreve of New Orleans. Jaquillard was a graduate of Alcee Fortier High School. He served his country as staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961-64. Jaquillard was the beloved husband of Janet Robert Jaquillard. Father of Carrie J. Marshall and Simon Bordelon. Grandfather of Brook Bordelon, Samantha Bordelon, and Sarah Marshall. Brother of Dolores Gee and William Morgan. He is also survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated this past Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment was at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft. =========================== Newlon, Reba Reba Newlon died on August 10 in Apollo Beach, Florida. She was 82. Newlon lived in the Tampa Bay area since 1992, when she moved there from Luling. Newlon owned and operated the Reba Newlon Reality. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Cunningham James; brother, Paul Scragg; sisters, Geneva Burke and Leta Schendil; granddaughter, Becky Scalese; and great-granddaughter, Alexis Scalese. Newlon was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Leona Mae Adkins Scragg and her husband, William Howard Newlon. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Chapman Mortuary, Huntington, West Virginia. Interment to follow at Woodmere & Ridgelawn Memorial Parks. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. =========================== Tassin, Melodia Melodia Cecile Hymel Tassin, a homemaker, died Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at Life Care-Kenner Regional Hospital. She was 88 years old. A native of St. James, she was a resident of Norco for the past 70 years. She was the wife of the late George Henry Tassin, Sr.; the mother of three sons; Randall Tassin, Sr., George Tassin, Jr., and the late Darryl Tassin Sr. and five daughters; Earline Lemoine, Melodia Milioto, Kathleen Valicenti, Janice Gourgues, and Dolores Ledet. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and a brother, Henry Hymel of Metairie. Tassin was preceded in death by siblings Emma Andreman, Maria Basset, Lelia Arceneaux, Rene Hymel Sr., Octave Hymel Sr., Honorat Hymel Jr., and Roland Hymel Sr. and her parents, Honorat Sr. and Marguerite Becnel Hymel. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Norco. Entombment will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum in Destrehan. =======================================================================
