Balliviero

Tammy G. Balliviero, daughter of Buddy and Rita Graver of Luling, died on Jan. 4 
from sepsis at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. She was 43.

Balliviero was born in Boutte and lived in Belle Chasse. 

Survivors include her husband, Michael D. Balliviero; a son, Quentin M. 
Balliviero; a daughter, Abbey Balliviero; a stepson, Joseph A. Balliviero; her 
father, Buddy Graver; her mother, Rita Danos Graver; three brothers, Chris, 
Randy and Todd Graver; and her grandmother, Clarabelle Walker Danos. 

A funeral was held on Jan. 7 at Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey. Burial was in Holy 
Rosary Cemetery in Larose.

Brooks

Jean Brooks of Tylertown passed away on Jan. 6. She was 62 years old.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Atlanta in 1940, the daughter of the late Charles 
Clifton and Dorothea Viola Cantrell Poss. 

She is survived by her husband, Larry Brooks, daughters Phyllis Gray, Dorothy 
Breaux and Tiney Guidry, her son Chuck Brooks, grandchildren Starlene, Missy, 
Larry, Lauryn, Charlene, Tyler, Dyllon, John, Dustyn and Carley and seven great-
grandchildren, Michael, Erin, Devin, Kayla, Kalya, Kerilynn and Jarrod.

A funeral service was held on Jan. 9 at the Tylertown Baptist Church.

Champagne

Francis "Frankie" Xavier Champagne Sr., a native of Edgard and resident of 
Luling, passed away on Jan. 6. He was 75 years old.

Mr. Champagne was a member of VFW Post 3750 of Luling and served on the St. John 
the Baptist Parish School Board for 25 years. 

He is survived by his wife, Retta Troxler Champagne, sons Frankie, P.J. and 
Jamie Champagne, daughters Charlotte Champagne and Audrey Raziano, brother 
Durwood Champagne, sisters Iris Delaneuville, Mary Lou Schexnayder, Faith 
Roussel, Joy Schexnayder and Rita Jane Bohn, 12 grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Aline Copponex Champagne, 
brother Wallace Champagne and sisters Doris Matherne and Audrey Reynaud.

Services were held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville on Jan. 8. 

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors and staff of St. 
Charles Medical Clinic, the St. Charles Hospital and nurses registry.

Margaret B. Comardelle, a native of Lockport and resident of Des Allemands, 
passed away on Jan. 22. She was 53 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Comardelle Sr., mother Theresa Bergeron 
Bellanger, sons Jerry Jr., Joshua and Jonathan Comardelle, daughters Melissa 
Berteau and Millicent Comardelle, brothers Robert, Steven, Brooks, Daniel, 
Billy, Edmond, Dickie, Barry and Lee John Bellanger, sisters Aline Loupe and 
Ruth Ann Austin and 15 grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her father, Klebert Bellanger, and sister Gloria Ann 
Havis.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 27 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church 
in Des Allemands.

Davaine

Edith Ann Leitz Davaine, native of New Orleans and resident of Lockport, passed 
away on Jan. 18. She was 71 years old.

She is survived by her stepsons, Jesse and Jerry Davaine, daughter Melissa Rose, 
sister Rita Leitz Kessel Stage, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Celena Eiswirth Leitz, 
husband Johnny Davaine and brother Jacob Leitz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 21 at Holy Savior Catholic Church in 
Lockport.

Eusea

Janet Esteve Eusea, a native of Westwego and resident of Luling, passed away on 
Jan. 8. She was 54 years old.

Mrs. Usuea is survived by her husband, Gary, daughter Angela Eusea Matherne, 
brothers Allen Esteve and Donald Esteve, sister Sandra Esteve and three 
grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Augustin and Dora Dantin Esteve.

Mrs. Eusea was a teacher at Mimosa Park Elementary School and a member of the 
Holdy Family Ladies Alter Society.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 10 at Holy Family Catholic Church in 
Luling. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pancreatic 
Cancer Action Network (PANCAN), 2221 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 131, El Segundo, CA,

Foret

Clovis Moise Foret, a native of Lafourche Crossing and resident of Des 
Allemands, passed away on Jan. 4. He was 75 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Vineda Comardelle Foret, and numerous nieces and 
nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clovis P. and Charlotte Aupied Foret, 
brothers Clarence, Tilton, Roy and Louis Foret and sisters Enola LaGarde, Irene 
Ledet, Ella Mae Danos, Bernice Theriot and Elaina Babin.

Mr. Foret was a member of the Mennonite Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the 
Korean conflict and a retired employee of Kerr-McGee. 

Services were held on Jan. 6 at Des Allemands Mennonite Church.

Marilyn Baul Keller, wife and grandmother, died on Jan. 27 at 1:45 a.m. She was 
73 years old. 

Born in New Orleans and a resident of Destrehan for 12 years, she is survived by 
her husband, Tyrus Keler, sons David and Neal Keller, daughters Lauren Columbo 
and Donna Bivona and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 30 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic 
Church in Destrehan.

Lee

Malven Franklin Lee, Jr., a native of Japan and resident of Luling, passed away 
on Jan. 21. He was 52 years old.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Mary Warren Lee, mother Mary Peters Lee, sons 
Malven Lee III and his wife Judy and PFC Scott Eric Lee, daughter Yvonne 
Darensbourg, brothers James M. and Steven Lee and grandchildren John William Lee 
and Danette Andrea Darensbourg. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Malven Franklin Lee Sr., brother Charlie 
Lee and son Andrew Lee.

Mr. Lee was a Vietnam veteran in secret intelligence. 

Services were held on Jan. 24 at West St. Charles Baptist Church, followed by 
interment in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Boutte.

McCoy

Marilyn Ann McCoy, native and resident of Boutte, passed away on Jan. 14. She 
was 47 years old.

She is survived by her father, Rev. Adam McCoy Sr., son Ronald Anthoney McCoy, 
brothers Adam McCoy Jr., Michale McCoy Sr., Darren McCoy and Dean McCoy, sisters 
Ether Mae Thorne, Debra Nelson, Janet Murrey, Lisa Williams, Sandra McCoy and 
two grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Amelia Ingram McCoy.

Visitation will be held today from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Falgout Funeral Home 
in Raceland, with services following. Interment will be at Sunlight Cemetery in 
Gheens.

Park

Jerry Park of Harrison, Ariz., passed away on Jan. 20. He was 63 years old.

A graduate of El Dorado High School in 1957 and of the University of Arkansas 
School of Pharmacy in 1962, he worked at Union Medical Center and Jefferson 
Regional Memorial Hospital as a pharmacist until his retirement in 2002. 

He was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church and attended Harrison First 
Baptist.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Robert and Mabel Chastain Park. 

He is survived by his brother, Ed Park of El Dorado, Ariz., sister Kay Roeder of 
Luling and sister Connie Gardner of Harrison, Ariz. 

Services were held on Jan. 23 at Young's Chapel in El Dorado.

Spratley

Fontella Spratley, 75, of Garner, N.C., passed away on Jan. 9 following a battle 
with cancer.

A former resident of Luling, Mrs. Spratley was past president of the St. Charles 
Women's Club. 

She is survived by her husband, Ashby Spratley, Jr., and three children, Ashby 
III, Jim and Jane Spratley-Odenheimer. 

Services were held at Montlawn Funeral Home and burial was at Montlawn Memorial 
Park in Raleigh, N.C.

St. Pierre 

Theresa Leblanc St. Pierre, native of St. Amant and resident of Kenner, passed 
away on Jan. 6. She was 78 years old. 

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jessie J. St. Pierre, sons Gerard N. 
St. Pierre and Brian J. St. Pierre, grandchildren Breanne Jessie St. Pierre and 
Michael J. St. Pierre, daughter-in-lawn Mary St. Pierre, and brothers Emile J. 
LeBlanc Joseph Claude "Brother Guy" Leblanc. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Melanie Bourgeois Leblanc, 
brother Herbert Leblanc and sister Louise Leblanc Gautreau.

Services were held on Jan. 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina.

Waguespack

Rudolph A. "Rudy" Waguespack, Sr., passed away on Jan. 13 at Ormond Nursing and 
Care Center. 

A native of Lutcher and resident of Norco for most of his life, he was a 
graduate of Lutcher high School, a member of the Knights of Columbus of Norco, a 
veteran of the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and a veteran of 
World War II.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Enid Waguespack, his parents, 
Maurice and Olive Hebert Waguespack and siblings Maurice, Lynn, Herbert and 
Mercedes. 

He is survived by his children, Rudolph "Andy" Waguespack, Jr. and wife Gayle C, 
and Lydia Waguespack Hardy and husband Robert J. Hardy, grandchildren Alison H. 
DeCristofaro, Amy H. Keller, Jared, Ryan and Matt Waguespack, and two great-
grandchildren, Bailey and Zachary Keller.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Jan. 16 at Sacred Hearth Catholic 
Church in Norco.

Allemand

Jaques Paul Allemand, a native and resident of Lockport, passed away on Feb. 27. 
He was 24 years old.

Mr. Allemand is survived by his parents, Lester Anthony and Edna Hebert 
Allemand, brother Nathan J. Allemand, sister Dana Margaret Allemand, niece 
Amanda Allemand and nephew Donavan Allemand. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on March 3 at Holy Savior Catholic Church in 
Lockport.

Suzanne Eschete Allen, a native of Houma and resident of Ponchatoula, passed 
away on Feb. 22. She was 46 years old.

A resident of Paradis from 1975 through 1986, Mrs. Allen graduated from E.D. 
White Catholic High School in 1974. 

She is survived by her husband, Donald James Allen, and son, Travis Charles 
Allen, of Ponchatoula, parents Charles Victor and Barbara Marie (Badeaux) 
Eschete of Thibodaux, brothers Tommy Eschete and Brian Eschete of Thibodaux and 
Chris Eschete of Mandeville and sister Rachelle Wolford of Houston.

Services were held on Feb. 26 at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula.

Gladys P. Badeaux passed away on Feb. 12. She was 92 years old.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Agnes Verret Perilloux, 
husband Lolan J. Badeaux, Sr., daughter Gladys Mae Carmouche, son Lolan j. 
"Blue" Badeaux Jr., sisters Joyce P. Weaner, Ethel Mae Lewis, Olga Bourg and 
brothers Jules, Stanley, Burton and Arthur "Treasure" Perilloux and grandson 
Michael Carmouche. 

She is survived by her daughter, Levern Pecora, brother Leroy Perilloux, 
grandchildren Johnny, Barry and Larry Carmouche, Joan C. Bird, Jean C. Aucoin, 
Robin C. Priest, Chuck and Bryan Perilloux, Kathy P. Clement, Ralph, Charleston, 
Jeffrey, Lolan III Badeaux and Lori B. Duplessis, 32 great-grandchildren and 
seven great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Badeaux was a devoted member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and a member of 
the Ladies Alter Society. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the 
Odyssey Hospice, Ormond Nursing and Care Center and Jennifer Mancuso, Shawn 
Madere and Tami Knight.

Dolores Maria Vial Davila Bonnette, native of Hahnville and 75-year resident of 
New Orleans, passed away on Feb. 3. She was 94 years old.

Mrs. Vial is preceded in death by first husband Louis A. Davila, second husband 
Lance Bonnette, parents Irma Martin Vial and Sheriff Leon C. Vial Sr. and sister 
Inez Vial Tinney. 

She is survived by brothers Sheriff Leon C. Vial Jr., James P. Vial Sr., Lester 
Vial and Charles Vial, sister Marguerite Vial Montz, and nieces and nephews 
including Dr. David J. Vial, Leon C. Vial III, Dr. Sidney Montz, Celeste Montz 
Tanner, Irma Vial Brou, Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon, Irma Tinney Dubroca, Shirley

Moise D. Friloux, native of Ama and resident of New Sarpy, passed away on Feb. 
25. He was 78 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Perilloux Friloux, son Gerard his wife 
Robbin, son Kim and his wife Phillis, daughter Frances and her husband Steven 
Mire, daughter Lisa and her husband Lennen Madere, sisters Theresa "Bunny" Petit 
and Ann Zeringue, brother Timmy Friloux, brother-in-law Larry Perilloux, 
grandchildren Michelle, Travis and Timmy Mire, Katie, Amy and Allison Friloux 
and Shelby, Lauryn and Lennen R. Madere. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rene and Louise Roux Friloux, and his 
brothers, Albert and Harold Friloux.

Mr. Friloux was retired from the Norco Construction Company and served as a SI/C 
in the Navy aboard the USS Chester during World War II. He was a member of the 
Knights of Columbus and the American Legion and a parishoner of St. Charles 
Borromeo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles 
Borromeo in Destrehan.

Abe "Boog" Hamilton, 81, a native and resident of Raceland, passed away on Feb. 
1.

He is survived by one son, Lawrence Hamilton of Patterson; one daughter, Lisa 
Hamilton of Des Allemands; four stepdaughters, Barbara Folse of Raceland, Bertha 
Johnson, Eula Thomas and Shirley Martin, all of Thibodaux; two sisters, Rosa 
Hamilton of Raceland and Mildred Dabney of New Orleans; 12 grandchildren and 14 
great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Young Hamilton, parents James and 
Lydia Lewis-Hamilton, brothers Eldred, Samuel and Joseph Stewart, and sisters 
Elizdia Parker, Oliska Burke, Rebecca Mott and Alice Hamilton.

He was a member of Antioch Baptist church and served on the Deacon Board.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 8 with burial at Morristown Benevolent 
Cemetery in Raceland.

Barbara Crooks Dore Humphries passed away on Feb. 2. 

She is survived by her husband, Hulon E. Humphries; two sons, Aymar J. Dore and 
Randy Humphries; three daughters, Diane Dore Plaisance, Doris Dore Dugas and 
Sandra Kinler; two brothers, William Crooks and Johnny Crooks; three sisters, 
Allie V Campbell, Nobie Wallace and Ramona Crooks; 10 grandchildren; and six 
great-grandchildren. 

The funeral was held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 West Bank Expressway, Harvey. 
Burial was at the St. Charles Mausoleum in Luling.

Kaiser

Brian A. Kaiser, native of Faribalt, Minn. and resident of Norco, passed away on 
Feb. 26. He was 80 years old.

He is survived by son Steve and wife Melissa, son Ken and wife Sue, daughter 
Sharon and husband John Mapes and son Patrick and wife Mary and nine 
grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Jenny O'Brien Kaiser, and 
wife Lois McMurry Kaiser.

Mr. Kaiser was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard in World War II, a 
graduate of Loyola University and retired from Shell Oil with 38 years of 
service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church in Norco.

LaCroix

Lena Busalacchi LaCroix, born October 24, 1899, passed away on Feb. 20 in 
Luling. She was 103 years old.

Beloved wife of the late Alphonse A. LaCroix, daughter of the late Gaetano and 
Frances Busalacchi, sister of the late Thomas, Frank, Salvadore and John 
Busalacchi and Annie Lasalvo, Mary Ann Cuccia, Mary Lussan and Josephine Gardey. 

She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

A native of Plaquemine and a resident of St. Charles Parish since 1900, she was 
devoted to her Catholic religion and had a love of music. She played the organ 
for St.Anthony's Catholic Church for 72 years and received the Louis Medallion 
for her many years of service. She was extremely community minded and had a love 
for others which led her to spend a quarter of a century of service at St. 
Charles Parish Hospital. She was the recipient of several awards, including the 
Veteran's Administration award for her hospital work, St. Charles Parish Rotary 
Club Citizen of the Year in 1993, J.C. Penny Golden Rule Award in 1996 and was 
Grand Marshall of the Krewe of Lul in 1997. 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the funeral. A Mass of 
Christian Burial was held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Luling on Feb. 22 
Interment was at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft.

Christine Nichols Millet passed away on Feb. 3. 

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Arthur Joseph Millet, daughter Ann 
Marie Millet, godchild Holly Anita Elizabeth Manasco, sister Sybil Lander, 
brother Thomas Ray Nichols, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 
multiple nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Edward Johnston, sisters Bertha Lee 
Terrell, Alinie Dixion, Idell Verda, Anita "Billie" Manasco and brother Carl 
Nichols.

Visitation was held on Feb. 5 and 6 at Alexander Funeral Home of Lutcher, 
followed by interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. Rose.

Murphy

Florence A. Murphy, a native of Kansas City, Mo. and a resident of LaPlace and 
Antwerp, Ohio, passed away on Feb. 9. She was 82 years old.

Mrs. Murphy was a graduate of Angola Tri-State Business College in Indiana, a 
member of VFW Antwerp Post 5087 and the Wooland Community Church in LaPlace. 

She is survived by her son, David Murphy, daughters Colleen Longardner, Linda 
Alspaugh and Susan Hines, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Memorial services were held on Feb. 15 at Woodland Community Church in LaPlace.

Norman Joseph Robin, a native of Larose and resident of Cut Off, passed away on 
Feb. 15. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Robin is survived by his wife, Nora Toups Robin, sons Floyd and Danny Robin, 
daughters Nellie McBride and Nora Danos, nine grandchildren, 15 great-
grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Edverine Robin, and brothers 
Vincent III and Eugene Robin. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 17 at Our Lady of Rosary Catholic 
Church in Larose.

Fred Leroy Stephens, a native of Birmingham, Ala. and resident of Des Allemands, 
passed away on Feb. 23. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Stephens is survived by his brother, Paul L. Stephens, 12 grandchildren, 
numerous great-grand children and three great-great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margurite Cornwell Stephens, parents Zach 
and Rosalee Johnson Stephens, stepson Leland Stephens, daughter Clara Lee 
Stephens Candies, brother J.W. Stephens and sister Ruby L. Snyder. 

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Religious services were held on Feb. 26 at Des Allemands Baptist Church.

Phillip Bobby Tassin, Sr., of Norco, passed away on Feb. 18 at the age of 57. 

Mr. Tassin is preceded in death by his parents, Aurelien V. "Slim" Tassin and 
Rosalie Tamurello Tassin, and his brother, Kenneth Tassin. 

He is survived by his wife, Linda Cook Tassin, son Phillip B. Tassin, Jr. and 
Elaine Tassin Fitzgerald and Theresa Tassin Judd, stepdaughters Barbara Walker 
Dufrene and Jean Walker Tassin, brother Aurelien V. "A.J." Tassin, sisters 
Joanne Tassin Caronna, Diane Tassin, Debra Tassin Waguespack, six grandchildren

Robert Howard Beck, resident of Harvey and former resident of Luling, passed 
away on March 30. He was 56 years old.

He is survived by his sons, Lee and Edward Beck, grandchildren Brandy, Eddie, 
Shelby and Sherri Beck, siblings Mary Beck Newcombe, Chase Mills, Patricia Beck 
Adams and Michelle Beck Tilyou, aunt Dorothy Beck Bumgarner Bushnell, beloved 
companion Shirley Williams and her children, nine nephews and six nieces.

A memorial service was held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in Harvey on 
April 2.

Ellis J. Boudreaux, Jr., a native and lifelong resident of Gramercy, passed away 
on March 30. He was 55 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Antoinette "Ann" Ockman Boudreaux, son Wade M. 
Boudreaux, brother Wayne and his wife Caren Boudreax, brother Randy and his wife 
Pam Boudreaux, sister-in-law Ruth Ockman Sweeny and her husband Jeff, sister-in-
law Elma Ockman and brother-in-law Phillip Ockman, several nieces and nephews 
and great-nieces and nephews.

Services were held on April 2 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher.

Estelle Adams Comardelle, a native of Gheens and former resident of Des 
Allemands, passed away on March 23. She was 84 years old.

Mrs. Comardelle is survived by her sons, Wilton "Strech" Jr., Leslie, Jerry, 
Richard, Gary and Michael Comardelle, daughters Elma Comardelle Bergeron, 
Wyonnia Comardelle Romero, Mary Ann Comardelle Pickett and Kathleen Comardelle 
Rodriguez, sister Josephine Adams Comardelle, 47 grandchildren, six step-
grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by former husband Wilton Comardelle Sr., parents 
Antonie Adams Sr. and Josephine Matherne Adams, son Nelton Comardelle, brothers 
Aldolph, Joseph, Antoine Jr., Fred and Lucian Adams, and sisters Elvere Adams 
Comardelle and Angelique Adams Cloulee.

A mass of Christian Burial was held on March 25 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church 
in Des Allemands.

Gaubert

Ernest "Sonny" "Bulldog" J. Gaubert passed away on March 14 at 8:06 a.m. He was 
71 years old.

A native and resident of Luling, Mr. Gaubert was a U.S. Navy veteran, retired 
from Monsanto. 

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nell Gendron Gaubert, sons Reginald and 
Shawn Gaubert, daughter Erith Sanchez, brothers Edward, Richard and Carroll 
Gaubert, sisters Alma Gaubert, Mable Gaubert, Vivian Gaubert and Enid Gaubert 
Halibough, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Veronica Naquin Gaubert, 
daughter Debora Gaubert, brothers Wallace, Raymond and Sylvester "S.J." Gaubert, 
sisters Elise Falgout and Mildred Gaubert and one grandchild.

Margaret Lanius Herman, resident of Atlanta, passed away from a short illness on 
March 9 at the age of 93.

Mrs. Herman was a resident of Hahnville from 1946 until 1968 and, during those 
years, was the librarian at Hahnville High School.

She is survived by her son, Heath Herman, and grandchildren Tod and Kim M. 
Herman, all of Atlanta. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester H. Herman, and her son, Kent M. 
Herman.

Thelma Roux Louque, a native and lifelong resident of Norco, passed away on 
March 31. She was 68 years old.

Mrs. Louque is survived by her husband, Herman Louque, daughter JoAnn

Terri Baudier and her husband Bruce, grandchildren Ryan, Jake and Bret

Claude Tabor, a native of St. John Parish and resident of Norco, passed away on 
March 9. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Tabor is survived by his wife, Aline Rodrigue Tabor, children Earline

great-grandchildren.

Nola Rochelle Weaver, a native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan, passed 
away on March 25. She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Weaver was a parishoner and active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church 
for over 80 years. She has served as president and member of the Ladies Altar 
Society, Catholic Daughters of America, CCD religion teacher, League of Sacred 
Heart and SCB PTA. 

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Verna and C.J. Simoneaux and 
Joan and Roland Becnel, son and daughter-in-law J. Michael and Avis Weaver, 
grandchildren Dennis and Jeff Simoneaux, Jill S. Clement, Greg Boyne, Jennifer

Bennett

William W. Bennett, "Captain Bill," passed away on April 14. He was 78 years 
old.

A native of Union City, Tenn. and a 28-year resident of Destrehan, Mr. Bennett 
was a dredge boat captain and a World War II veteran, serving the Army as a 
machine gunner on the front lines as U.S. forces came ashore at Normandy. He 
also toured France and the Rhineland and was a prisoner of war in Germany for 
seven and a half months. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman 
Badge, Good Conduct Medal and three Battle Stars for his service.

He is survived by his son Keith Bennett and his wife Christine, grandchildren 
Kelly, Sarah, Brian, April, William and Kimberly and eight great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Tullis Bennet, parents Zack and 
Gertrude Bennett and children Wilborn Terry, Royce Kim and Deborah Kay Bennet.

Services were held on April 23 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher 
followed by entombment in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum in Destrehan.

Harry J. "Blackie" Boudreaux, a retired delivery man, passed away on April 28. 
He was 67 years old.

Mr. Boudreaux was native of Napoleonville and 25-year resident of Luling before 
returning to Napoleonville 15 years ago. 

He is survived by his companion, Joyce Naquin, sons Byron Boudreaux, Harry J.

Marguerite Marie Hymel Bourgeois passed away on April 27. She was 87 years old.

Services will be held on April 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church in 
Vacherie starting at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 8 a.m.

Althea Chaisson, 91, passed away on April 15 at Bethany Health Care Center in 
Lafayette. 

She was a native of Kraemer and a resident of Morgan City.

She was retired from Lakewood Hospital, now Teche REgional Medical Center, in 
Morgan City after 33 years of service, having worked in the Sterile Central 
Department of the hospital. She was a past recipient of the Citizen of the Year 
Award from the Morgan City AARP, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 
Morgan City, the Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Auxiliary of Lakewood Hospital 
and numerous other volunteer organizations in Morgan City.

She is survived by one son, Aren J. Chaisson Jr., of Lafayette, two daughters, 
Elizabeth "Billie" Gros of Paradis and Mary Chaisson Theriot of Lafayette, eight 
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aren Joseph Chaisson Sr., and her 
parents, Elizabeth Cortez Loupe and Joseph Loupe. 

Mass was held on April 24 followed by burial in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Catherine Denise Sassin Mayeux, beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend, a 
member consultant for the Louisiana Credit Union League, died on April 5. She 
was 40 years old.

Born in Texas City, Texas, she lived in Luling for the past 35 years and was a 
sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Luling. She spent her career, 
20-plus years, in the credit union movement.

Survivors include her son, Marc James Mayeux (17), daughters Mallory Jean (15)

Lindsay Eleanor Stohlman, aged 21, passed away on April 12 at East Jefferson 
Hospital. 

She was born in Metairie and lived in Violet for six years before becoming a 
resident of Destrehan.

She was a senior journalism student at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette. 
She also served two years in AmeriCorps and was a resident counselor for two 
years at Camp Bon Coeur, a camp for young children with heart defects.

She graduated from Destrehan High School in 1999 and was a member of St. Charles 
Borromeo Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Society of Professional 
Journalists. She was currently employed as a weekend journalist for the Daily 
Advertiser in Lafayette.

She was the beloved daughter of Deacon Mike and Patty Stohlman and loving sister 
of Sarah Michelle Stohlman and Michael Henry Stohlman, Jr. She is also survived 
by her boyfriend, Byron C. Tatman of Lafayette.

Fenwick Appleton Swann, former St. Charles County Agent, passed away on 
Wednesday, April 9 at 1:11 p.m. at his home in Luling. He was 69.

Swann was the beloved husband of Neila Swann. Father of John Swann, Mary Bourque 
and Fenwick Swann III. Son of the late Fenwick and Blanche Swann. Brother of 
June Swann Darnell and Stanford Swann. Also survived by five grandchildren: Gary 
Swann, Brandon Swann, Brent Michael Swann, Quinten Swann and Haleigh Bourque. 

Swann was a native of Marksville and a resident of Luling for 32 years. He 
served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962. 

He was County Agent for St. Charles and St. Mary Parishes for 42 years. He was a 
member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2409. He also served as an usher at 
Holy Family Catholic Church. 

Swann was well known for his work in the agricultural field. He was a volunteer 
at Martin's Garden Center in Luling during his retirement. He also was known for 
his yearly tomato crop which he shared with local clergy. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, April 11 at Holy Family. Burial was 
in St. Ann's Cemetery, Napoleanville, La.

Ronald Samuel Tridico, Sr., a native of New Orleans and lifelong resident of 
Norco, passed away on April 10. He was 59 years old. 

Mr. Tridico was a retired LPN and self-employed. He was formerly a trooper with 
the Louisiana State Police and was a member of the American Legion and ABATE. He 
was a veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division, later joining Special 
Forces and becoming a green beret.

Mr. Tridico is survived by his wife, Laurie Cuarino Tridico, sons Ronald Samuel 
Tridico Jr. and Ryan Thomas Tridico, daughter Virginia "Jenny" Tridico, sisters 
Veda Tridico Jackson and Sandra Tridico Wolf, and grandchildren Colton Wayne,

worked as a machine operator. She was a member of Third Baptist Church of

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Ann Woods and husband Kenneth 
Fabacher, grandchildren Kenneth Jr., Nicole and Jeffrey Fabacher, sister-in-law 
Evelyn Decedue and brother Bill Hutton. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry G. Woods, Jr., parents John and 
Helen Adamson Hutton, three sisters and two brothers. 

She was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire.

Orleans or Ormond Nursing Home in Destrehan.

Becnel

Mabel Becnel passed away on June 7 at 5:30 a.m. at the Luling Living Center. She 
was 89 years old. 

Mrs. Becnel was a native of Plattenville. After her marriage to the late Bernard 
Becnel, Jr., they lived in the Vacherie area, before moving to Edgard where the 
last of her eight children were born and raised.

Mrs. Becnel stayed busy raising her eight children. Before they were all grown, 
she welcomed her grandchildren visiting during summer vacations and weekends.

To Mabel and Bernard Becnel, their main source of pleasure was their family and 
their faith.

After moving to Luling in the early 70s, Mrs. Becnel stayed busy with her yard, 
flowers and family. She loved to travel, and had many lovely vacations both here 
in the U.S. and abroad. She was also a member of the St. Charles Council on 
Aging, Luling Center and worked as a volunteer pink lady at the Luling Hospital 
until she was forced to give it up several years ago because of her health.

Mrs. Becnel was the mother of Harold (Charlene) Becnel of Belle Chasse, 
Monsignor Terry Becnel of Norco, Anthony (Anna) Becnel of Flowery Branch, Ga., 
Paul Douglas (Joan) Becnel of Luling, Ernest (Pat) Becnel of Luling, Lucy Bonnie 
B. Berthelot of Metairie, Barbara B. (Frank) Necaise of Powder Springs, Ga., and 
the late Reverend John B. Becnel. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 
great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was the sister of Edward 
and Hartwell Aucoin, Eloise Rome, Shirley Richard, and the late James Aucoin, 
Elise Rome, Margaret Labat, Anna Lee Aucoin, Mildred Bassett, Mary Aucoin and 
Elise Aucoin. Also preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bertha Guillot 
Aucoin.

Campbell

Anthony "Tony" Campbell, 80, died at his home in Schriever of lung cancer and 
Alzheimer's disease on June 26. 

The funeral was held at St. Bridget Church on Monday with burial in the church 
mausoleum. 

Mr. Campbell served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the 
South and West Pacific including the Philippines, Midway Island, and 
Bougainville in the Solomons. He was employed by Shell Oil Company for 32 years. 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Campbell; daughter Becky Guglielmo 
of Luling and her husband Eddie; daughter Linda Ayers of Georgia and her husband 
Terry; son Charles Campbell of Lafayette and his wife Beth; granddaughter Julie 
Porche of Luling and 6 other grandchildren; and 5 great-grandsons. 

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Campbell.

Bridget Anne Legendre Darlington, a native of Vacherie and resident of Baton 
Rouge, passed away on June 9 after a determined and well-fought battle with 
cancer. She was 30 years old.

She is survived by her loving husband, Andrew Carey Darlington, her parents,

A native of Vacherie, Bridget and her husband Andrew have lived in Albuquerque, 
N.M., Tampa, Fla., Dublin, Ohio and Bedford, N.H. She graduated from E.D. White 
Catholic High School in Thibodaux and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge 
with a bachelor of science degree in quantitative business analysis. She was 
most recently the research director for Grubb and Ellis/Coldstream Real Estate 
Advisors, Inc., in Bedford, N.H. She was formerly a research analyst for the 
Louisiana Legislative Financial Office in Baton Rouge.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on June 11 at St. Philip Catholic Church in 
Vacherie.

Tracy Dufrene, a native and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on June 13. 
He was 90 years old.

Mr. Dufrene is survived by his wife, Clara "Sis" Brupbacher Dufrene, son Marlin

He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Olivia Danos Dufrene, brothers 
Harold, Leroy, Dan and Nathan Dufrene, and sisters Lillian Poleno, Bernice

Wade J. Gaudet, Sr. passed away on June 1 at 10:30 a.m. 

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jumonville Gaudet, sons Wade J. Gaudet, Jr. 
and Warren T. Gaudet, daughter-in-law Paula deLivaudais Gaudet, grandsons 
Matthew and Blake Gaudet, brother Clifford Gaudet and sisters Vivian Jacob and 
Mildred Toye. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Corinne Gaudet and brother 
Howard Gaudet.

Mr. Gaudet was a resident of Norco and a native of Hahnville. He was retired 
from Shell.

Benjamin A. Groff, a native of Charleston, W.V. and a resident of Luling, passed 
away on June 13. He was 85 years old.

Mr. Groff is survived by his wife, Cecelia Lee Humes Groff, sons Stanley C.

grandchildren Becky, Benjamin and Jonathan Groff.

Charles Percy Jackson, Sr., passed away on June 23. He was 67 years old.

Mr. Jackson was the beloved husband of Veda Tridico Jackson; son of the late

Charles P. Jackson, Jr., Lisa Jackson Macaluso, Veda Jackson Dawson and Mary

Blanche Oubre Kugler passed away at St. Charles Parish Hospital on June 4. She 
was 92 years old. 

She was a native of Vacherie and longtime resident of Norco.

mother of Doris K. St. Martin and husband Charles, Emile J. Kugler and wife

Isaac "Reese" Lewis Sr. passed away on June 26. He was 73 years old.

A US Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, Mr. Lewis was born in 
Iota and was a lifelong resident of Bayou Gauche. He was a former St. Charles 
Parish Deputy and Search and Rescue member, and was retired from Oxy Chemical. 

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Miller Lewis, sons Isaac Reese Lewis Jr. 
and Peter Lewis, daughter Susan Lewis, grandchildren Sarah Baraglia and Blaine, 
Sean, Daniel, Zachary and Brennon Lewis and great-grandchildren Samantha and

Eugene "Noonie" "Gene" Joseph Matherne passed away on June 27 at 1:15 p.m. He 
was 75 years old.

A native of Good Hope and a resident of Norco, Mr. Matherne was retired from 
Macathone Oil Co. and GATX Railroad Transportation. He was a World War II Navy 
veteran and member of Norco American Legion Spillway Post #195.

Woodiel

Dorothy Louise Breyel Woodiel, a resident of Luling, passed away June 11 at her 
home. She was 76 years old. 

Mrs. Woodiel was born in Little Rock, Ark., the eldest of eight children. After 
graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she worked in Washington, 
D.C. for the War Dept., returning to Little Rock when World War II ended. She 
met John W. Woodiel, Jr. on a blind date, July 4, 1947 and they married Sept. 1, 
1948. Three children followed, and the family moved to Luling in 1954. Mrs. 
Woodiel remained a homemaker until her children were in high school. She 
returned to the work force in the late 1960s as Executive Secretary for the St. 
Charles School Board, from which she retired after 20 years of service. A member 
of Holy Family Catholic Church, she was active in the Altar Society and the Busy 
Bees. Mrs. Woodiel was an active member of the St. Charles Republican Women and 
the Latinaires Dance Club, and had served the West Bank Girl Scouts as treasurer 
for many years. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband and 
visiting her children and siblings.

Mrs. Woodiel is survived by her children, John W. Woodiel, III and wife Pamela 
of Dallas, Texas, Deborah W. Spencer and husband Bill of Knoxville, Tenn., and 
Christopher D. Woodiel and wife Frances of Baton Rouge; grandchildren Richard, 
Catherine, John, and Kristen Woodiel and Lauren and Kathryn Spencer; great-
granddaughter Taylor Danielson;sisters Margaret Breyel, Cecilia Holmes, Mary 
Frances Doig, Barbara Fredeman, Rita Delaney, and Libby Talley; sisters-in-law

Edwin Lockwood Adams, a native of Centreville, Miss. and resident of Paradis, 
passed away on July 22. He was 84 years old.

Mr. Adams was a member of the RSVP of the River Parishes for 14 years and a

He is survived by his sons, Earl H., Edward L., Ronald E. and Juan F. Adams, 
daughters Sharon A. Deloach and Delilah A. Dufrene, 16 grandchildren and 14

Joycelyn Adams Chancellor, 81, passed away on July 20 at her home in Luling. 

Services were held on July 22 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Miss.

Mrs. Chancellor was a native of Rankin County, Miss. and a longtime resident of 
Luling, as well as a member of Luling United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Homer Chancellor and wife Carol; son-in-law Thomas

Janet A. Culver, RN, age 84, retired plant nurse at Monsanto Co., passed away on 
July 19. 

She was born in Denver, Colorado, grew up in West Palm Beach, Fla., and moved to 
New Orleans. to attend Touro Nursing School. She graduated from Touro School of 
Nursing in 1943. She was a nurse at the Pascagoula Shipyards during WWII, then a 
Public Health Nurse with the St. Charles Parish Health Unit. She was the Plant 
Nurse at Monsanto Co. until she retired with 25 years of service. She was a 
longtime resident of Destrehan until moving to Zachary.

Janet is the wife of the late William S. Culver, Sr. She is survived by her son, 
William S. Culver, Jr. and his wife, Cheri of Metairie, her daughter, Marcia K. 
Culver of Montz, and her sisters, Judith Ehlies of Woodruff, S.C, Maude Altman 
and Mary Johns of Zachary, numerous nieces and nephews, and close family friend, 
Cherie Huffman of Metairie.

Friends of the family are invited to attend the graveside services at Young 
Family Cemetery in Zachary. today at 10:30 am.

Herman Eberthardt 88, a native of Dusseldorf, Germany and a resident of 
Hahnville, passed away July 11.

Eberthardt. He is also survived by an adopted and loving daughter Shirley

Mary Vallery Elkin passed away on July 30. 

She was born and raised in New Orleans and lived in Luling for over 40 years. 

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Eva Vallery. She is survived by her 
son, Richard, daughters Gena Medina and Crystal Elkin, son-in-law Manuel Medina, 
soon-to-be son-in-law Shannon Summers and four grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, 
Manny and Kristen and Shannon Summers Jr. She also had three brothers, Henry 
Jr., Earl and George, and four sisters, Rita Mae, Brenda, Geraldine and 
Georgiana, and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Ms. Elkins worked for many years as a waitress/cashier. The family would like to 
thank Dr. Kevin Joseph and staff for their support and care and extend a 
heartfelt thank-you to Michelle, her home health care nurse.

Ms. Elkin wished to be cremated. A memorial service was held on Aug. 5 at Luling 
United Methodist Church.

Richard Flatley III, a resident of Hahnville, passed away on July 30. He was 45 
years old.

Emerson Anthony Gaubert passed away on July 7. He was 82 years old.

A native of Thibodaux and resident of Covington, Mr. Gaubert was a U.S. Army 
veteran.

Dennis and Irby Gaubert, sisters Eunice Robert, Ethel Keller and Leah Rae 
Cantrelle, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Lucia, Gearldlynn W. lucia, Eric P. Catoire and Dean M. Fabares; grandfather of

Mr. Lucia served in the National Guard, was a former member of the Sacred Heart

Robinson

Arthur M. Robinson, a native of Rochester, N.Y. and resident of Luling for 38 
years, passed away on July 3. He was 71 years old.

Education was a major priority for Mr. Robinson, who recieved his BS in civil 
engineering from the University of Illinois, a master's degree in industrial 
engineering from the University of Houston and a MBA from Nicholls State 
University. He was employed by Union Carbide for 30 years. After retirement, he 
worked as an engineering consultant. He served in the army during the Korean 
Conflict. His passions were golf and the beach. He was the charter member of the 
Willowdale Country Club.

He is surivived by his loving wife, Rosemary C. Robinson, daughter Dana R. 
Goodman, Dawn R. Lemoine and Tracy R. Suer, two sons-in-law, Allen Lemoine and 
Leo Suer, six grandchildren, Jessica and Jona Goodman, Josh and Joel Lemoine and 
Lance and Tyler Suer, and two brothers, Leonard and Wallace Robinson.

Memorial services will be private.

Evelyn Mae Burke Bacon passed away on Aug. 6. 

Mrs. Bacon was the wife of the late Robert Lee Bacon, daughter of the late 
Royale Burke and the late Mary Elizabeth Holly, the mother of Cynthia Ann 
McNabb, Carol Lee Whiting, Tyna Elizabeth Bacon, David Michael Bacon, Thomas 
Lynnwood Bacon and the late Debra Gail Frank. Mrs. Bacon also had three 
surviving sisters, two deceased brothers, 27 grandchildren and numerous great-
grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held at H.C. Alexander Funeral home in Norco.

James H. Dozier Sr. passed away on Aug. 31 at St. Charles Hospital at the age of 
76. 

He is survived by his wife, Rosamae Dozier, four sons, Robert and wife Kathy of 
Simmesport, Dennis Sr. and wife Cynthia of Destrehan, James Jr. and wife Deborah 
of LaPlace and Toby and wife Linda of Ponchatoula; three daughters, Elaine Babin 
of Houma, Shirley Dozier of St. Martinville and Tammy Dozier of New Sarpy; 
brother Pete Dozier of Arizona and sister Annie Kimble of Alabama; 18 
grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Vin Dozier and Lottie Jeannsome 
Dozier, brothers George and Pat, sisters Alma, Wilma, Billie, Kitty and 
Elizabeth and son-in-law Dean Babin.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class and was awarded the WWII 
Victory Medal. He was retired from Local 406 Operating Engineers after 37 years.

27. She was 72 years old.

Audrey Mae Adams Hymel passed away on Aug. 16 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. 
She was 73 years old.

A native of New Sarpy and a resident of Destrehan, she had formerly resided in 
Norco for 35 years. Mrs. Hymel was a homemaker, and had worked as a cashier for 
Norco Pharmacy. She was a parishoner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Joseph Numa Hymel Jr., 
brother Roland Adams and her parents, Henry and Sophie Mire Adams. 

She is survived by her son, Paul Joseph Hymel and his wife Bonnie, daughter 
Shirley Hymel Jones and her husband William, brothers Raymond and Stanley adams 
and sister Irene Adams Lashbrook, grandchildren Kristie, Dustin and Beau Jones, 
Paul Hymel Jr., Chrishia Poole, Ashley Hymel, Julia Burkhalter, Amanda and Blake 
Hymel.

A mass of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 19.

away on Aug. 5. He was 87 years old.

Gordon "Quinn" Landry Jr. passed away on Aug. 21. He was 56 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Sue V. Landry, son G. Quentin Landry III, daughter 
Lindsey E. Landry, brother Sidney Landry and sisters Kathleen Landry Prentice, 
Carol Landry Lockhart and Mary Monica Landry. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Quentin Landry Sr. and Thelma 
Simoneaux Landry.

Mr. Landry was a former chairman for the Economic Development council, former 
Executive Committee Chairman and board member of the River Region Chamber of 
Commerce, past president and board member of the Rotary Club and a Paul Harris 
Fellow, past president and board member of the St. Charles Business Association, 
past executive board member of Willowdale Country Club, former treasurer of the 
Hahnville High School Touchdown Club, former coach in the St. Charles Parish 
Recreation Department, past member of the St. Charles Community Advisory Panel, 
participant in the Greater New Orleans Leadership Council and a lifetime member 
of Sigma Chi.

Services were held on Aug. 26 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling, followed 
by interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Des Allemands.

Hazel Terrebonne Martel, a retired nursing administrator, died of complications 
from vascular surgery at Doctors Hospital on Aug. 28. She was 81.

Mrs. Martel was preceded in death by her father, Leneas A. Terrebonne, and her 
mother, Ophelia Fillinich Terrebonne Johnson.

She was a native of Golden Meadow and a resident of New Orleans since 1939 and 
Luling since 1987. She was a graduate of Hotel Dieu School of Nursing and former 
Director of Nursing Services at Hotel Dieu and Sarah Mayo hospitals and St. 
Margaret's and Maison Hospitaliere nursing homes.

She is survived by her husband, William H. Martel, Sr., brother Harold A. 
Terrebonne, sons William H. Martel, Jr. and James L. Martel and granddaughters 
Marie Martel Fahy, Jennifer Martel Albert and Michelle Marie Martel.

Funeral services were held on Sept. 2 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.

Minnich; brother of the late William E. Minnich; grandfather of Laura and Gabe

Andrew Minnich, and a host of other relatives.

A native of Weston, W.V. and resident of Luling for the past 36 years, Mr. 
Minnich was a retired employee and maintenance supervisor for Union Carbide, a 
member of Luling United Methodist Church, Ever Ready Retiree Club and the St. 
Charles Masonic Lodge #445.

Sidney J. Caire passed away on Sept. 24. 

A native and lifelong resident of Edgard, Mr. Caire was a noted businessman and

and a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Charles Anthony Caro, a native of Paradis and resident of Metairie, passed away 
on Sept. 7. He was 83 years old.

He was a retired meter foreman, employee of Entergy Corporation after 37 years 
of service. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and 
flew torpedo bombers in WWII and the Korean War. He was a devoted family man and 
was always willing to help family and friends. He enjoyed travel and music and 
played several musical instruments.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Althea Bouchon Caro; one son and 
daughter-in-law, Richard J. Caro, M.D. and Linda Constancy Caro of Baton Rouge; 
and three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Caro Thomas and Rick Thomas of 
Destrehan, June Caro Steinworth, M.D. and M. Walter Steinworth of Salt Lake 
City, Utah and Donna Caro Henne and Eugene Henne, Jr. of Destrehan. He is also 
survived by 13 grandchildren: Michelle Caro Dow, Richard J. Caro, Jr. and spouse 
Gina Domma Caro, Tiffany Caro Burns, M.D. and spouse Nathan Burns, Bradley Caro, 
Terence Ryan, Jr., Melissa Ryan, Chelsey Thomas, Erica, Kristen and Blake

Ramona Maxion Perkins, a resident of Destrehan and native of New Orleans, passed 
away on Sept. 8. She was 74 years old.

Mrs. Perkins was a retired teacher with the Jefferson Parish School System. She 
had earned a Masters Degree plus 30 hours, was a member of American Legion Post 
#195 Auxiliary, retired teachers association and Phi Kappa Phi. 

She was the wife of 56 years to her beloved husband Clayton J. Perkins, daughter

Charles Robinson, Jr., a retired Air Force master sergeant and teacher, died on 
Sept. 27 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 77. 

Mr. Robinson was born in Westwego and lived in St. Rose for the past 27 years. 
He was a graduate of John McDonogh High School and attended the Air Force 
Academy, Southern University at Baton Rouge and San Bernardino Valley College. 
He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was 
awarded a Bronze Star. He taught at and Sidney Collier Vo-Tech School and 
Hahnville High School. He was an honorary past master of Prince Hall Masons and 
was a member of Berry Lodge #2, St. Charles Parish Retired Teachers Association, 
and Coast to Coast RV Club. 

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Cannon Robinson; four sons, Charles Robinson 
III of Petaluma, Calif., Calvin Robinson of San Mateo, Calif., Cornelius 
Robinson of San Diego and Craig Robinson of Suisun, Calif.; a daughter, Sara 
Robinson Harrison of Menlo Park, Calif.; three foster sons, Goldstein Wade, 
Eugene Phillips and Rahman Na'im; a brother, Henderson Wilson of Marrero; two 
sisters, Mary Vaughn of Lancaster, Calif., and Julia Culver of Oakland, Calif.; 
best friend, George Ed Dixon of Seattle, WA; eight grandchildren; and three 
great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service was held on Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 
3933 Washington Ave. Burial was private.

Lena Legear Thibodeaux, a native of Sunset and resident of St. Charles Parish 
for 30 years, passed away on Sept. 10. She was 93 years old.

She is survived by her sons Paul Thibodeaux, Larry Thibodeaux and Joey 
Thibodeaux, daughter Helen Tamburello, brother Jullian Legear, 22 grandchildren 
and 26 great-grandchildren.

Nelson T. Zeringue Sr., age 76, passed away on Sept. 9. 

He was the beloved husband of Helen Schexnaydre for over 51 years, father of 
Nelson Zeringue Jr., Barry Zeringue, Gary Zeringue, Irene Love, Pamela Foret, 
Cynthia Carols and the late Randy M. Zeringue. He is also survived by his 
brother, Louis Lawrence "White" Zeringue, sister Effie Waguespack, and Emma Mae 
Schexnaydre, 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and 
nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Hilda Zeringue, brother 
Arthur, Harold and Maurice Joseph, and sister Rose Agnes Girior.

A native of Taft and resident of Ama, he was a retired machinist for American 
Cyanamid and a member of OCAW Local 4-447. He was a US Army World War II 
veteran. 

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Sept. 12 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral home.

Beloved wife of the late Charles L. Andrews, Sr., mother to Euna F. Reschke,

Gordon L. Andrews and wife Cynthia, grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 
18. Daughter of the late P.G. Songy and Elia Simon Songy, sister of Odile Vaello 
of McAllen, Texas, Gertrude Malone of Westwego, Mrs. E.J. Caire III of Metaire 
and the late A.A. Songy Sr., Edward Joseph Songy, Gerard E. Songy, Ludevine 
Stokes, Elise King and Elma Gendron. 

She was born on Oct. 10, 1910, on Evergreen Plantation in Wallace, was a 
graduate of Dominican College in New Orleans and was the first special education 
teacher in St. Charles Parish. She was a charter member of the River Road 
Historical Society and served as a French-speaking tour guide and festival 
volunteer.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 29 at St. John the Baptist Church in 
Edgard, followed by burial in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum in Destrehan.

John H. "Admiral" "Skeeze" Cleveland passed away on Oct. 21. He was 80 years 
old.

A native and lifelong resident of Hahnville, Mr. Cleveland was retired from 
Shell Oil Company, a member of Holy Rosary Church and a member of VFW Post #131. 
He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served aboard the aircraft carrier USS 
Suwannee, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He is the son of the late George E. and Lucy Keller Cleveland, brother of 
Marguerite C. Landeche, Lucy C. Dube and the late George E. Jr., James A. and 
Robert A. Cleveland. He is also survived by a niece, Patricia Haydel, and a 
great-nephew, Donald Haydel III.

Phillip A. Comardelle passed away on Oct. 19. He was 46 years old.

David Jude Falgout, Sr., passed away on Oct. 16 following a courageous battle 
with cancer. He was 59 years old.

A native and lifelong resident of St. Rose, he is survived by his wife of 32

husband Eric, brothers Bobby and George Falgout, sisters Louise Morici, Doris 
Bertucci and Audrey Naquin, grandchildren Cassie A. and Eric W. Piner and a host 
of relatives and friends. He is the son of the late Louis and Agatha Weber

Garett M. Hebert passed away on Oct. 29 in Hattiesburg, Miss. in an automobile 
accident. He was 22 years old.

A native of Destrehan and resident of Hattiesburg for the past five years, he 
was a 1999 graduate of Destrehan High School and a senior at USM studying 
computer software technology with an emphasis on graphic design. He was a third 
degree black belt in karate and the founder of the "Bougalee Rebels" Jazz Band, 
where he played lead saxophone.

He is survived by his wife, Natoshia Hebert, father Gary Hebert, mother Yvonne 
Laurent, father-in-law Thomas Schreiner and mother-in-law Lynne Schreiner, 
brothers Blake, Joshua, Brandon and Brett Hebert, grandparents U.J. "Bud" 
Laurent and Joann, Marguerite Hebert, Shirley and sidney Myers and Sylvia 
Schreiner, godparents Kathryn Weber and James Hebert and a host of other 
relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Russell Hebert, and grandfather-in-

Ronnie Ray Hollimon of Ruston passed away on Oct. 12. He was 48 years old.

Mr. Hollimon was a 1973 graduate of Hahnville High School, where he played on 
the state championship baseball team. He received a Bachelor's Degree from LSU 
in 1977. He was a certified property manager, co-founder and vice president of 
Sunquest Properties of Monroe.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Debby Hollimon, daughter Casey Rae 
Hollimon and sons Jake and Neal Hollimon, parents Hugh and Shirley Hollimon, 
brother Alan Hollimon, sisters Connie Madere, Donnie Hollimon and Penny Harrell, 
and nieces and nephews Jason, Jarrod, Emily, Ryan, Zac, Katie, Jennifer,

A Memorial Service will be held on Oct. 21 at Cook Baptist Church Sanctuary in

Ronald "Pops" Lee Johnson, a native of Moline, Ill. and resident of Garyville,

Curtis L. Anderson, retired senior vice president of 30 years with Azalea Fleet, 
Inc. and former President of the Greater New Orleans Barge Fleeting Association, 
died on Nov. 27 of heart failure at the Veterans Administration Hospital. He was 
66 years old.

Mr. Anderson was born in Sleepy Eye, Minn. and has lived in Luling for the past 
33 years. He was a member of the Luling United Methodist Church. 

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Leola Gebhard Anderson, children 
Debora A. Peres, Tamara A. Abadie, Daniel R. Anderson and Pamela A. Matherne;

Alice Mildred Bordelon died Dec. 1 in Gonzales, La. She was 80.

Daughter of the late George and Dolly Brown. Mother of Cynthia Wall of 
Nashville, Sandra Lockwood of LaPlace, Becky Hyde of Prairieville, and Bruce 
Bourgeois of Gonzales. She was the sister of Melvin Brown, Alvin Brown, Harold

Brown

Vonceil J. Brown, 91, of El Dorado, Ark., passed away on Dec. 14. 

Born Oct. 26, 1912, she was the daughter of Robert Eli Jackson and Molsie Vinson 
Jackson. She was a homemaker and member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Luther Ryan Brown, sister 
Versa Miller and four grandchildren. 

Mrs. Brown is survived by three sons, Bill and John Brown of El Dorado and Tom 
Brown of Marysvilel, Ark.; daughter Frances Rankin of Hammond, 18 grandchildren, 
27 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 17 at Young's Funeral Directors Chapel, 
followed by burial at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. 

Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2010 W. Hillsboro, El 
Dorado, AR. 71730.

Caravella

Rosalie Ann Caravella, a retired employee of International Matex Tank Terminals, 
passed away on Dec. 23 at St. Charles Parish Hospital. She was 79 years old.

Rosalie Caravella was a lifelong resident of St. Rose and a parishoner at St. 
Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. 

She is survived by her brother, Peter I. Caravella, and sister Mazie Caravella 
Gillette. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was said last week at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Vivan R. Christen, a native of New Iberia and resident of Des Allemands, passed 
away on Dec. 17. She was 83 years old.

She is survived by her son, Barry Christen, daughter Mary Christen Prejean, 
brothers Marnell and Errol Robichaux, two grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis L. Christen, parents Arthur and 
Rita D. Robichaux and sister Doris Robichaux.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Dec. 19 at St. Gertrude Catholic 
Church in Des Allemands.

Mathilda B. Dufrene, a resident of Hammond and former resident of Bayou Gauche, 
passed away on Dec. 25. She was 83 years old.

She is survived by her son, Lyle Paul Dufrene, daughters JoAnn D. Naquin and 
Rosaline D. Kozero, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-
great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dewey John Dufrene, parents Norbert 
Bourgeois Sr. and Josephine Dufrene Bourgeois, sons Fredrick Joseph Dufrene and 
Darries Dufrene, brother Norbert Bourgeois Jr. and sisters Willa Mae Badeaux, 
Lillian Dempster, Orelia Dunn and Julienne Matherne.

Religious services were held on Dec. 27 at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland.

Roseann Zeller Everett passed away on Dec. 17. She was 36 years old.

She was the daughter of Bob and Irene Zeller, mother of Jamie L. Everett, James 
Everett Jr. and Shawn M. Everett and sister of Robert Zeller III and Ronald 
Patrick Zeller. She is also survived by her grandfather, Robert C. Zeller Sr., 
aunt Evelyn LaBarde and uncle Fred Miller and his wife Maria.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 21 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 
in Norco.

Hinds

Hugh Jack Hinds, a retired contract painter, retired from the U.S. Navy, died on 
Dec. 7 at home. He was 79 years old.

Mr. Hinds was born in Anniston, Ala. and lived in Graceville, Fla. He recently 
moved to Waggaman to be with family.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Mrs. Thelma Vinson of Graceville, daughters 
and sons-in-law William and Jackie Roberts of Waggaman, Robert and Debra Denny 
of Lineville, Ala. and Pat Mosley of Oxford, Ala.; grandchildren Larr and Angela 
Ammons of Paradis, Danny Paul Sweat Jr. of Jacksonville, Ala.,and great-
grandchildren Klorissa Ammons of Paradis and Danny Cole Sweat of Jacksonville.

A quiet family and friends service will be held at 6 p.m. on Dec. 12 at 17 Aster 
Lane, Waggaman.

Alvin Edward Karter Sr. passed away on Dec. 25 in Metairie. He was 78 years old. 

A native of Albany, Ala. and resident of Destrehan, Mr. Karter was a retired 
truck driver for Latlack, Inc. and a carpenter.

Mr. Karter was the son of the late Aloysis Henry and Devina McNabb Karter, 
husband of Thelma Weldon Karter, father of Donna Ann Bouterie, Suellen Buckley, 
Renee A. Champagne and Alvin E. Karter Jr., and stepfather of Brenda Baily 
Piano. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Religious services were held on Dec. 29 at Alexander Funeral Home in Norco.

Doris Benoit Landeche, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Hahnville, passed 
away on Dec. 11. She was 79 years old.

She is survived by her sons, Charles "Ray" Landeche Jr., Ralph Landeche and 
Perry Landeche, daughters Gail Naquin and Jeanne Arabie, sister Flora Mae 
Gaubert, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Landeche St., sons Thomas 
and John Landeche, brothers Maeneil, Alden and roland Benoit and sister Inez 
Boudreaux.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 15 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in

Martel

William Howell Martel Sr., a retired printer for the Times-Picayune, died on 
Dec. 30 at Ormond Nursing Home in Destrehan. He was 81 years old.

Mr. Martel was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel T. Martel, and his parents, 
Louis Joseph Martel Sr. and Helen Maud Bush. 

He was a native and resident of New Orleans and a resident of Luling since 1987. 
Mr. Martel was a decorated veteran who honorably served the U.S. Navy as a medic 
during World War I. 

He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Martel Werner, brother Louis J. Martel 
Jr., sons William H. "Bill" Martel Jr. and James L. Martel, and three 
granddaughters, Marie Martel Fahy, Jennifer Martel Albert and Michelle Marie 
Martel.

Funeral services were held on Jan. 2 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, Masses or memorials to the charity of your choice are 
preferred.

Adele Mary Vicnair Pfister, a native of Whitehall and resident of Norco, passed 
away on Dec. 29.

Mrs. Pfister is the wife of the late Vincent Joseph Fister, daughter of the late 
Felix and Drine Berthelot Vicnair, mother of Sue Schoeler, V.J. Pfister Jr., 
Gene Pfister and Roy Pfister. 

She is preceded in death by two brothers and survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 
great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 31 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic 
Church in Destrehan.

Benny S. Raziano, a native of Kenner and resident of Luling, passed away on Dec. 
14. He was 77 years old.

Owner of Raziano's Restaurant and an avid fisherman, Mr. Raziano loved to 
decorate his yard for the holidays. 

He is survived by his son, Benny Walter Raziano and wife Audrey Champagne 
Raziano, daughters Deborah Raziano and Tasha Raziano Treuil and her husband 
Daniel, brother James Raziano, sister Grace Raziano Jatho and grandchildren 
Angela Raziano and Emma Treuil.

He is preceded in death by hi wife, Anna Mae Himel Raziano, parents Nick and 
Nunzia Carona Raziano, brothers Joe, Jules, Vic and Nick Raziano, and sisters 
Nellie Ranatza and Vera Faucheux.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today at noon at Holy Rosary Catholic 
Church in Hahnville. 

The family requests donations be made to the Delta Zeta Sorority Foundation or 
the Nicholls State University Foundation.

Richard

Paul C. Richard Jr. passed away on Dec. 8 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. 
He was 62 years old.

A resident of Norco, Mr. Richard was a retired attorney at law. He contributed 
to several charities, loved his church, had an interest in people with physical 
disabilities and was proficient in computer artwork. Mr. Richard was a graduate 
of Destrehan High School, Louisiana State University and Loyola Law School, and 
a member of the Louisiana Bar Association.

He is survived by his mother, Adele D. Richard, sister Merrill Richard Zeringue, 
niece Michelle Spielman and nephew Michael Zeringue. He is preceded in death by 
his father, Paul Richard Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 11 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 
in Norco, followed by burial at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan.

Theresa Touro Schouest, a native of Matthews and a resident of Luling, passed 
away on Dec. 23. She was 72 years old.

She is survived by her 12 children, two brothers, two half-brothers and two 
sisters. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albin Schouest, parents Andrew and 
Adenise Levron Curole and two half-brothers. 

Religious services were held on Dec. 26 at Des Allemands Mennonite Church.
