Balliviero, daughter of Buddy and Rita Graver of Luling, died on Jan. 4 from sepsis at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. She was 43. Balliviero was born in Boutte and lived in Belle Chasse. Survivors include her husband, Michael D. Balliviero; a son, Quentin M. Balliviero; a daughter, Abbey Balliviero; a stepson, Joseph A. Balliviero; her father, Buddy Graver; her mother, Rita Danos Graver; three brothers, Chris, Randy and Todd Graver; and her grandmother, Clarabelle Walker Danos. A funeral was held on Jan. 7 at Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey. Burial was in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Larose. =========================== Brooks Jean Brooks of Tylertown passed away on Jan. 6. She was 62 years old. Mrs. Brooks was born in Atlanta in 1940, the daughter of the late Charles Clifton and Dorothea Viola Cantrell Poss. She is survived by her husband, Larry Brooks, daughters Phyllis Gray, Dorothy Breaux and Tiney Guidry, her son Chuck Brooks, grandchildren Starlene, Missy, Larry, Lauryn, Charlene, Tyler, Dyllon, John, Dustyn and Carley and seven great- grandchildren, Michael, Erin, Devin, Kayla, Kalya, Kerilynn and Jarrod. A funeral service was held on Jan. 9 at the Tylertown Baptist Church. =========================== Champagne Francis "Frankie" Xavier Champagne Sr., a native of Edgard and resident of Luling, passed away on Jan. 6. He was 75 years old. Mr. Champagne was a member of VFW Post 3750 of Luling and served on the St. John the Baptist Parish School Board for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Retta Troxler Champagne, sons Frankie, P.J. and Jamie Champagne, daughters Charlotte Champagne and Audrey Raziano, brother Durwood Champagne, sisters Iris Delaneuville, Mary Lou Schexnayder, Faith Roussel, Joy Schexnayder and Rita Jane Bohn, 12 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Aline Copponex Champagne, brother Wallace Champagne and sisters Doris Matherne and Audrey Reynaud. Comardelle, a native of Lockport and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Jan. 22. She was 53 years old. She was 71 years old. She is survived by her stepsons, Jesse and Jerry Davaine, daughter Melissa Rose, sister Rita Leitz Kessel Stage, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Celena Eiswirth Leitz, husband Johnny Davaine and brother Jacob Leitz. She was 54 years old. Mrs. Usuea is survived by her husband, Gary, daughter Angela Eusea Matherne, brothers Allen Esteve and Donald Esteve, sister Sandra Esteve and three grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Augustin and Dora Dantin Esteve. Mrs. Eusea was a teacher at Mimosa Park Elementary School and a member of the Holdy Family Ladies Alter Society. He was 75 years old. He is survived by his wife, Vineda Comardelle Foret, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clovis P. and Charlotte Aupied Foret, brothers Clarence, Tilton, Roy and Louis Foret and sisters Enola LaGarde, Irene Ledet, Ella Mae Danos, Bernice Theriot and Elaina Babin. Mr. Foret was a member of the Mennonite Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a retired employee of Kerr-McGee. He was 52 years old. Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Mary Warren Lee, mother Mary Peters Lee, sons Malven Lee III and his wife Judy and PFC Scott Eric Lee, daughter Yvonne Darensbourg, brothers James M. and Steven Lee and grandchildren John William Lee and Danette Andrea Darensbourg. He is preceded in death by his father, Malven Franklin Lee Sr., brother Charlie Lee and son Andrew Lee. Mr. Lee was a Vietnam veteran in secret intelligence. Interment will be at Sunlight Cemetery in Gheens. =========================== Park Jerry Park of Harrison, Ariz., passed away on Jan. 20. He was 63 years old. A graduate of El Dorado High School in 1957 and of the University of Arkansas School of Pharmacy in 1962, he worked at Union Medical Center and Jefferson Regional Memorial Hospital as a pharmacist until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church and attended Harrison First Baptist. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Robert and Mabel Chastain Park. He is survived by his brother, Ed Park of El Dorado, Ariz., sister Kay Roeder of Luling and sister Connie Gardner of Harrison, Ariz. Services were held on Jan. 23 at Young's Chapel in El Dorado. =========================== Spratley Fontella Spratley, 75, of Garner, N.C., passed away on Jan. 9 following a battle with cancer. A former resident of Luling, Mrs. Spratley was past president of the St. Charles Women's Club. She is survived by her husband, Ashby Spratley, Jr., and three children, Ashby III, Jim and Jane Spratley-Odenheimer. Services were held at Montlawn Funeral Home and burial was at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh, N.C. =========================== St. Pierre Theresa Leblanc St. Pierre, native of St. Amant and resident of Kenner, passed away on Jan. 6. She was 78 years old. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jessie J. St. Pierre, sons Gerard N. St. Pierre and Brian J. St. Pierre, grandchildren Breanne Jessie St. Pierre and Michael J. "Rudy" Waguespack, Sr., passed away on Jan. 13 at Ormond Nursing and Care Center. A native of Lutcher and resident of Norco for most of his life, he was a graduate of Lutcher high School, a member of the Knights of Columbus of Norco, a veteran of the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and a veteran of World War II. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Enid Waguespack, his parents, Maurice and Olive Hebert Waguespack and siblings Maurice, Lynn, Herbert and Mercedes. He is survived by his children, Rudolph "Andy" Waguespack, Jr. and wife Gayle C, and Lydia Waguespack Hardy and husband Robert J. Hardy, grandchildren Alison H. DeCristofaro, Amy H. She was 46 years old. A resident of Paradis from 1975 through 1986, Mrs. Allen graduated from E.D. White Catholic High School in 1974. He is survived by one son, Lawrence Hamilton of Patterson; one daughter, Lisa Hamilton of Des Allemands; four stepdaughters, Barbara Folse of Raceland, Bertha Johnson, Eula Thomas and Shirley Martin, all of Thibodaux; two sisters, Rosa Hamilton of Raceland and Mildred Dabney of New Orleans; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Young Hamilton, parents James and Lydia Lewis-Hamilton, brothers Eldred, Samuel and Joseph Stewart, and sisters Elizdia Parker, Oliska Burke, Rebecca Mott and Alice Hamilton. He was a member of Antioch Baptist church and served on the Deacon Board. She is survived by her husband, Hulon E. Humphries; two sons, Aymar J. Dore and Randy Humphries; three daughters, Diane Dore Plaisance, Doris Dore Dugas and Sandra Kinler; two brothers, William Crooks and Johnny Crooks; three sisters, Allie V Campbell, Nobie Wallace and Ramona Crooks; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 West Bank Expressway, Harvey. Burial was at the St. Charles Mausoleum in Luling. =========================== Kaiser Brian A. Kaiser, native of Faribalt, Minn. and resident of Norco, passed away on Feb. 26. He was 80 years old. He is survived by son Steve and wife Melissa, son Ken and wife Sue, daughter Sharon and husband John Mapes and son Patrick and wife Mary and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Jenny O'Brien Kaiser, and wife Lois McMurry Kaiser. Mr. Kaiser was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard in World War II, a graduate of Loyola University and retired from Shell Oil with 38 years of service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norco. =========================== LaCroix Lena Busalacchi LaCroix, born October 24, 1899, passed away on Feb. 20 in Luling. She was 103 years old. Beloved wife of the late Alphonse A. LaCroix, daughter of the late Gaetano and Frances Busalacchi, sister of the late Thomas, Frank, Salvadore and John Busalacchi and Annie Lasalvo, Mary Ann Cuccia, Mary Lussan and Josephine Gardey. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. A native of Plaquemine and a resident of St. Charles Parish since 1900, she was devoted to her Catholic religion and had a love of music. She played the organ for St.Anthony's Catholic Church for 72 years and received the Louis Medallion for her many years of service. She was extremely community minded and had a love for others which led her to spend a quarter of a century of service at St. Charles Parish Hospital. She was the recipient of several awards, including the Veteran's Administration award for her hospital work, St. Charles Parish Rotary Club Citizen of the Year in 1993, J.C. Penny Golden Rule Award in 1996 and was Grand Marshall of the Krewe of Lul in 1997. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Luling on Feb. 22 Interment was at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft. =========================== Millet Christine Nichols Millet passed away on Feb. 3. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Arthur Joseph Millet, daughter Ann Marie Millet, godchild Holly Anita Elizabeth Manasco, sister Sybil Lander, brother Thomas Ray Nichols, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Edward Johnston, sisters Bertha Lee Terrell, Alinie Dixion, Idell Verda, Anita "Billie" Manasco and brother Carl Nichols. Murphy, a native of Kansas City, Mo. and a resident of LaPlace and Antwerp, Ohio, passed away on Feb. 9. She was 82 years old. Mrs. Murphy was a graduate of Angola Tri-State Business College in Indiana, a member of VFW Antwerp Post 5087 and the Wooland Community Church in LaPlace. She is survived by her son, David Murphy, daughters Colleen Longardner, Linda Alspaugh and Susan Hines, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was 87 years old. He was 87 years old. Mr. Stephens is survived by his brother, Paul L. Stephens, 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grand children and three great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margurite Cornwell Stephens, parents Zach and Rosalee Johnson Stephens, stepson Leland Stephens, daughter Clara Lee Stephens Candies, brother J.W. He was 56 years old. He is survived by his sons, Lee and Edward Beck, grandchildren Brandy, Eddie, Shelby and Sherri Beck, siblings Mary Beck Newcombe, Chase Mills, Patricia Beck Adams and Michelle Beck Tilyou, aunt Dorothy Beck Bumgarner Bushnell, beloved companion Shirley Williams and her children, nine nephews and six nieces. She was 84 years old. Gaubert passed away on March 14 at 8:06 a.m. He was 71 years old. A native and resident of Luling, Mr. Gaubert was a U.S. Navy veteran, retired from Monsanto. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nell Gendron Gaubert, sons Reginald and Shawn Gaubert, daughter Erith Sanchez, brothers Edward, Richard and Carroll Gaubert, sisters Alma Gaubert, Mable Gaubert, Vivian Gaubert and Enid Gaubert Halibough, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Veronica Naquin Gaubert, daughter Debora Gaubert, brothers Wallace, Raymond and Sylvester "S.J." Religious services were held on March 17 at Boutte Assembly of God Church in Luling. =========================== Herman Margaret Lanius Herman, resident of Atlanta, passed away from a short illness on March 9 at the age of 93. Mrs. Herman was a resident of Hahnville from 1946 until 1968 and, during those years, was the librarian at Hahnville High School. She is survived by her son, Heath Herman, and grandchildren Tod and Kim M. Herman, all of Atlanta. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester H. Herman, and her son, Kent M. Herman. =========================== Louque Thelma Roux Louque, a native and lifelong resident of Norco, passed away on March 31. She was 68 years old. Bennett, "Captain Bill," passed away on April 14. He was 78 years old. A native of Union City, Tenn. and a 28-year resident of Destrehan, Mr. Bennett was a dredge boat captain and a World War II veteran, serving the Army as a machine gunner on the front lines as U.S. forces came ashore at Normandy. He also toured France and the Rhineland and was a prisoner of war in Germany for seven and a half months. He was 69. Swann was the beloved husband of Neila Swann. Father of John Swann, Mary Bourque and Fenwick Swann III. Son of the late Fenwick and Blanche Swann. Brother of June Swann Darnell and Stanford Swann. Also survived by five grandchildren: Gary Swann, Brandon Swann, Brent Michael Swann, Quinten Swann and Haleigh Bourque. She was 89 years old. Mrs. Becnel was a native of Plattenville. After her marriage to the late Bernard Becnel, Jr., they lived in the Vacherie area, before moving to Edgard where the last of her eight children were born and raised. Mrs. Becnel stayed busy raising her eight children. Before they were all grown, she welcomed her grandchildren visiting during summer vacations and weekends. To Mabel and Bernard Becnel, their main source of pleasure was their family and their faith. After moving to Luling in the early 70s, Mrs. Becnel stayed busy with her yard, flowers and family. She loved to travel, and had many lovely vacations both here in the U.S. and abroad. She was also a member of the St. Charles Council on Aging, Luling Center and worked as a volunteer pink lady at the Luling Hospital until she was forced to give it up several years ago because of her health. Mrs. Becnel was the mother of Harold (Charlene) Becnel of Belle Chasse, Monsignor Terry Becnel of Norco, Anthony (Anna) Becnel of Flowery Branch, Ga., Paul Douglas (Joan) Becnel of Luling, Ernest (Pat) Becnel of Luling, Lucy Bonnie B. She was 76 years old. Mrs. Woodiel was born in Little Rock, Ark., the eldest of eight children. After graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she worked in Washington, D.C. for the War Dept., returning to Little Rock when World War II ended. She met John W. Woodiel, Jr. on a blind date, July 4, 1947 and they married Sept. 1, 1948. Three children followed, and the family moved to Luling in 1954. Mrs. Woodiel remained a homemaker until her children were in high school. She returned to the work force in the late 1960s as Executive Secretary for the St. Charles School Board, from which she retired after 20 years of service. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church, she was active in the Altar Society and the Busy Bees. Mrs. Woodiel was an active member of the St. Charles Republican Women and the Latinaires Dance Club, and had served the West Bank Girl Scouts as treasurer for many years. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband and visiting her children and siblings. Mrs. Woodiel is survived by her children, John W. Woodiel, III and wife Pamela of Dallas, Texas, Deborah W. Spencer and husband Bill of Knoxville, Tenn., and Christopher D. She was born and raised in New Orleans and lived in Luling for over 40 years. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Eva Vallery. He was employed by Union Carbide for 30 years. After retirement, he worked as an engineering consultant. He served in the army during the Korean Conflict. His passions were golf and the beach. "Admiral" "Skeeze" Cleveland passed away on Oct. 21. He was 80 years old. A native and lifelong resident of Hahnville, Mr. Cleveland was retired from Shell Oil Company, a member of Holy Rosary Church and a member of VFW Post #131. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Suwannee, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He is the son of the late George E. and Lucy Keller Cleveland, brother of Marguerite C. Landeche, Lucy C. Dube and the late George E. Jr., James A. and Robert A. Cleveland. He is also survived by a niece, Patricia Haydel, and a great-nephew, Donald Haydel III. He was a third degree black belt in karate and the founder of the "Bougalee Rebels" Jazz Band, where he played lead saxophone. Mrs. Pfister is the wife of the late Vincent Joseph Fister, daughter of the late Felix and Drine Berthelot Vicnair, mother of Sue Schoeler, V.J. Pfister Jr., Gene Pfister and Roy Pfister. She is preceded in death by two brothers and survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 31 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. =========================== Raziano Benny S. Raziano, a native of Kenner and resident of Luling, passed away on Dec. 14. He was 77 years old. Owner of Raziano's Restaurant and an avid fisherman, Mr. Raziano loved to decorate his yard for the holidays. He is survived by his son, Benny Walter Raziano and wife Audrey Champagne Raziano, daughters Deborah Raziano and Tasha Raziano Treuil and her husband Daniel, brother James Raziano, sister Grace Raziano Jatho and grandchildren Angela Raziano and Emma Treuil. He is preceded in death by hi wife, Anna Mae Himel Raziano, parents Nick and Nunzia Carona Raziano, brothers Joe, Jules, Vic and Nick Raziano, and sisters Nellie Ranatza and Vera Faucheux. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today at noon at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville. The family requests donations be made to the Delta Zeta Sorority Foundation or the Nicholls State University Foundation. =========================== Richard Paul C. Richard Jr. passed away on Dec. 8 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. He was 62 years old. A resident of Norco, Mr. Richard was a retired attorney at law. He contributed to several charities, loved his church, had an interest in people with physical disabilities and was proficient in computer artwork. Mr. Richard was a graduate of Destrehan High School, Louisiana State University and Loyola Law School, and a member of the Louisiana Bar Association. He is survived by his mother, Adele D. Richard, sister Merrill Richard Zeringue, niece Michelle Spielman and nephew Michael Zeringue. He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Richard Sr. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 11 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Norco, followed by burial at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan. =========================== Schouest Theresa Touro Schouest, a native of Matthews and a resident of Luling, passed away on Dec. 23. She was 72 years old. She is survived by her 12 children, two brothers, two half-brothers and two sisters. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albin Schouest, parents Andrew and Adenise Levron Curole and two half-brothers.
