Bates

Esther Marie Guise Bates, a resident of Houma and native of Chauvin, passed away 
on Jan. 2. She was 60 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Sam E. Bates, son David Hinze Jr., daughters 
Peggy Fitch, Billie Jo Currier and Jusy Hanzik, sisters Eva Ratcliff, Rita Dunn 
and Janet Ergeron and seven grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emile Joseph Lirette Sr. and Lornza 
Marie Guise Lirette, brothers Jimmy, Iris, Levis, Leon, Emile Jr. and Milton 
Lirette, sisters Urilda, Rose and Darlene Lirette and Irene Lambos and one 
grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 5 at Falgout Chapel in Raceland.

Blouin

Oscar "O.J." Blouin, Jr. passed away on Jan. 23 of cancer. He was 51 years old. 

Born and raised in New Orleans, he was a resident of Des Allemands for the past 
12 years. 

Son of the deceased Oscar and Gloria Blouin of New Orleans, his survivors 
include his wife, Phyllis Guillot Blouin, children Amanda Blouin Eckhardt, Jaime 
Blouin, Laura Blouin, Christopher Blouin and Sara Blouin, son-in-law David 
Eckhardt, future son-in-laws Michael Nicolini and Bryan Hoppen and future 
daughter-in-law Dixie Breaux, grandchildren Abigail Eckhardt, Tyler Nicolini and 
Ellie Blouin and mother-in-law Marie Azalie Guillot. 

Mr. Blouin was a former employee of H.B. Zachry Construction at Monsanto in 
Luling.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des 
Allemands on Jan. 26.

Camardelle

Brian Keith "Scooter" Camardelle Jr., a resident of Luling, died on Jan. 18. He 
was 19 years old.

An employee of St. Charles Parish Public works and a member of St. Charles 
Baptist Church, he is survived by his father, Brian Camardelle Sr., son Caine 
Camardelle, grandparents Robert and Susan Boudoin and Adam Jr. and Rita Badeaux, 
brother Brandon Camardelle, stepbrother Andre Benoit and half-sisters Jacilynne 
Lester and Amanda Camardelle. 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Shelly Boudin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Caine 
Camardelle.

Carr

Bonnie Hymel Carr passed away on Jan. 30. She was 51 years old.

She is preceded in death by her father, Urbin Hymel, and stepfather, Oscar 
Brady. 

She is survived by her husband, William Denis Carr, mother Evelyn Brady, 
children Aaron, Carey and Kelly, stepdaughter Jennifer Carr, brothers Gary 
Hymel, Dayle Hymel and Dennis Hymel, sisters Nancy Navaille and Mary Rohan, and 
four grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 5 at Sacred Heart Church in Norco. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Jeffrey Dufrene Jr., a native of Bayou Gauche and resident of Des Allemands, 
passed away on Jan. 1. He was 62 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Bernard Dufrene, mother Lena Hogan Dufrene, 
daughters Jael D. Comardelle and Nicole Faye Dufrene, sisters Peggy D. Dufrene, 
Janice D. Walls and Dorcas D. Frickey, six grandchildren and eight step-
grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Jefferey Antoine Dufrene Sr.

Religious services were held on Jan. 5 at Community Assembly of God Church in 
Bayou Gauche.

Clement Andrew Dupepe passed away on Jan. 20 in Gonzales. He was 78. 

A native and resident of Union, he was son of the late Fernand Sr. and Julie 
Mire Dupepe, uncle of Karen Chauvin Bergeron, Joan Dupepe Bergeron, Susan Dupepe 
Boudreaux, Julie Porta Gautreau, Lionel V. Porta Jr., Mark Dupepe, Lynn and John 
Louviere and the late Sherry Dupepe Bourgeois, the late Michael Paul Dupepe and 
the late Pamela Ann Gautreaux. Brother of Rosalie Dupepe Porta, Shirley Dupepe 
Louviere Durabb, the late Lillian Dupepe Chauvin, the late Barbara Dupepe, the 
late Mercedes Dupepe, half-brother of Shirley B. Young and the late Ferdenand G. 
Dupepe Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 22 at St. Mary's Chapel in Convent.

Jasper Frederick Fahrig Sr., a native of St. Louis, Mo., and resident of St. 
Charles Parish, passed away on Jan. 10. He was 75 years old.

Mr. Fahrig is survived by his sons, Jasper Frederick Fahrig Jr., William Robert 
Fahrig and Jonathan Craig Fahrig; daughters Deborah F. Corrao, Chanda F. Burge, 
Rachel F. Billot and Ruth F. Koederitz, sisters Gwendolyn Bernice F. Caillet and 
Georgia Ruth F. Matherne, 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his sons, Christian Gottlieb Fahrig II and Brian 
Joseph Fahrig, and his parents, Christian and Helen Moore Fahrig.

Services were held on Jan. 13 at First Union Presbyterian Church in Luling.

Falgoust

Philomene Therese Dufresne "Tut" Falgoust, beloved mother, grandmother, great-
grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on Jan. 3. She was 87 years old.

A native of Wallace and resident of St. James and Donaldsonville, she was born 
on Dec. 10, 1916, to Ida Waguespack and Ulysse Dufresne. She graduated 
valedictorian in 1934 from Edgard High and was married on July 3, 1939, to 
joseph Clerville "Cap" Falgoust of Vacherie, son of Amelida Stein and Jourdan 
Falgoust. 

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Gayle Falgoust of Metairie 
and Sharon and Sterling Zeringue of Norco; two sons and two daughters-in-law, 
Michael and Jo Ann Canella Falgoust of Baton Rouge and Glen and Angela Morris 
Falgoust of Donaldsonville; sisters Agnes Dufresne Barrˇ, Georgette Dufresne 
Spoonts and Ethel Dufresne; brother Ulysse Dufresne; 12 grandchildren and 11 
great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Cecile Dufresne 
Faucheux and Anne Dufresne Dennis; brothers Amilcar Dufresne and Claud Dufresne.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 6 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic 
Church in Donaldsonville.

Albert Henry Steaven Fraychineaud Jr., aged 60, died on Jan. 26 at 10:25 p.m. 

Beloved husband of Carolyn Cambre Fraychineaud, father of Natalie Fraychineaud, 
Christi F. Gibson and Jennifer Fraychineaud, son of Mildred Budenich and the 
late Albert Henry Fraychineaud Sr. Grandfather of Madison Fraychineaud and Gavin 
and Morgan Gibson. Brother of Noelie Serpas Elliott, June F. Fos, Elsie F. 
Boudreaux, Althea F. Treitler, Juvonnie F. Smith, Millicent F. Ancalade, Karen 
"Suzy" F. McGiboney, Donna F. Koski, Robert, Kayo, Courtney, Gary, Arthur 
Fraychineaud. Brother-in-law of Beverly and Henry Bourgeois, Helen and Robert 
Mire, Ernest and Elizabeth Cambre and Judy Duet and the late Norman Duet. Also 
survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 

Fraychineaud was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Luling for 27 years.

Newton "N.J." Joseph Galatas passed away on Jan. 4 at 10:45 a.m. at Canon 
Hospice. He was 57 years old. 

A native of Garyville and resident of Jefferson Parish, he is survived by mother 
Rita Andre of Baton Rouge, step-mother Lillie Staurd of St. Rose, brothers 
Russel Charles Galatas and wife Betucci Galatas of St. Rose, William Charles 
Galatas and wife Tony Raynes Galatas of Hahnville, sister Gynelle Galatas Stoker 
of Kenner, stepsister Lorretta Frommeyer of Metaire, and many nieces and 
nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his father, William Cliffton Galatas Sr., brother 
William Cliffton Galatas Jr. and sister Earlene Galatas Hammet. 

Graveside services were held on Jan. 7 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. 
Rose.

Johnson

Long-time parish councilman Curtis Johnson Sr. passed away on Jan. 27 of a heart 
attack at St. Charles Parish Hospital. He was 71. 

Johnson was elected a police juror in 1977 and served as councilman for the St. 
Rose area from 1988 to 2000. He also worked in the 70's as a parish zoning code 
enforcement officer. 

Johnson was a lifelong resident of St. Rose. He graduated from Booker T. 
Washington High School and attended Grambling State University for two years. He 
was a member of the National Negro Professional Baseball League during the 
1950's.

He was also a member of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club. The organization 
will hold a jazz funeral for Johnson on Saturday.

Johnson is survived by a son, Curtis "Tiger" Johnson Jr., of Miami; two 
daughters, Lynette Johnson Brown of New Orleans and Dionne Johnson of St. Rose; 
and nine grandchildren. 

A funeral was held on Jan. 31 at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 100 Second Street in 
St. Rose.

Loupe

Esther Mary Loupe, a native of Milwaukee, Wis. and resident of Albany, passed 
away on Jan. 4. She was 79 years old.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Loupe and Steven Allan Bowman, sons 
Michael Loupe and wife Jill, John Loupe and Richard Loupe, 14 grandchildren, six 
great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Rosalya Pokroa Bartnikowski 
and brothers Stanley, Walter, Leonard, Casmir and Chester Bartnikowski.

A memorial service was held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands on 
Jan. 8.

Roberts

John S. Roberts, a resident of Youngsville and native of St. Charles Parish, 
passed away on Jan. 29. He was 37 years old.

He is survived by his wife Barbra Roberts, mother Cynthia Cetadol, guardian 
parents Rene and Cheryl Matherne, son John S. Roberts Jr., daughters Velvet N. 
Roberts and Alexis R. Roberts and brothers Lloyd Cetadol Jr. and Floyd Cetadol. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Howell S. Roberts, and his stepfather, 
Lloyd Cetadol Sr.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of 16 years, Mr. Roberts' religious service was held 
on Feb. 6 at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland, followed by interment at St. 
Charles Cemetery in Luling.

Savage

George Hubert Savage Jr., a retired Entergy Corp. material management 
supervisor, died on Jan. 17 of renal failure at Anderson Regional Medical Center 
in Meridian, Miss. He was 60 years old.

Mr. Savage was born in Beardstown, Ill. and lived in Luling for 20 years. He was 
a retired master sergeant in the Marines and served in Vietnam. His 
commendations include the Good Conduct Medal with six stars, National Defense 
Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, Vietnam Cross of 
Gallantry with Palm and Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. 

Survivors include his companion, Wanda Phillips, son George Savage III and 
stepsons, Chauncey Mize and Phillip Patrick, stepdaughters Tara Naquin, Chandra 
Sampey and Pamela Gilbert, mother Pearl Lucille Savage, sister Carolynn Sue 
Hall, and five grandchildren. 

A graveside military service was held on Jan. 24 at Ebenezer Cemetery in 
Pennington, Ala.

Abbate

Connie Ann Abbate, age 42, of Garyville, passed away on Feb. 11 at St. Charles 
Hospital. 

She is survived by her husband Peter Abbate, sons Peter Jr., Brad and Brett 
Abbate, daughter Brandie Abbate, brothers Alvin and Donald Louque, and sisters 
Sandra Anslum Susan Falcon and Carolyn Rizzuto. 

She is preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Paul Abbate Jr.

A funeral service was held on Feb. 13 at Alexander Funeral Home in Norco.

Bradley David Anderson, a native of Dallas and resident of Destrehan, passed 
away on Feb. 5. He was 17 years old.

Bradley was an honor student, a member of the Wise Conservation Club, the 
Science Olympiad Team and a literary rally representative.

He is survived by his father, Gene Alden Anderson of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., 
mother Mary Beth Kugler Anderson of Destrehan, grandparents Charles J. and 
Thelma B. Kugler of Destrehan and Charles A. and Martha Anderson of McPherson, 
Kan., sister Callie Anderson of Destrehan and numerous aunts, uncles and 
cousins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Bradley D. Anderson 
at any Bank One Location. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 10 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic 
Church in Destrehan.

Harry Lloyd Campbell, a native of Craigsville, Va. and resident of Destrehan, 
passed away on Feb. 22. He was 82 yeras old.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Aitken and Linda Hayes, and son Chuck 
Campbell, sister Ressie Alier, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be announced at a later date.

Josephine Adams Comardelle, a native of Gheens and resident of Des Allemands, 
passed away on Feb. 26. She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Comardelle is survived by her sons, Charles, Lawrence Jr., Thomas, Randy 
and Timothy Comardelle, her daughters Ethel Hotard and Peggy Matherne, 14 
grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence "Yank" Comardelle Sr., her 
parents, Antoine Adams Sr. and Josephine Matherne Adams, her brothers Adolph, 
Alfred, Lucien, Joseph and Antoine Adams and her sisters Angeline Clulee, Elvire 
Comardelle and Estelle Comardelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 28 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church 
in Des Allemands.

Marguerite Brandt Dufrene, a native of Alliance and resident of Des Allemands, 
passed away on Feb. 13. She was 99 years old.

She is survived by her son, Brandt J. Dufrene, daughter Gwen Morel, sister Emma 
Lou Elston, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alex N. and Ethel Conrad Brandt, 
brothers Hewitt "Bud" and Saxon R. Brandt, and sisters Ruby Reynolds, Doris 
Cognevich, Gladys Becnel and Ida Trieul. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 16 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church.

Whitney J. Dufrene, a native and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Feb. 
20. He was 90 years old.

He is survived by his son, Donald Dufrene, daughters Jackie Prejean, Jeanette 
Mouney, Mary Sirgo, Loretta Matherne and Betty Foret, brothers Ernest Dufrene 
and Lester Dufrene, sisters Verly Reeves and Myrtle Hoffman, 16 grandchildren, 
29 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his wife by first marriage Ethel Bernard Dufrene, 
wife by second marriage Alphonsine Trauth Dufrene, wife by third marriage 
Josephine Boudreaux Dufrene, parents Tousaint and Cecile Parks Dufrene, brothers 
Norris and Leonce Dufrene and sisters Glaze Chauven and Mae Toups.

Mr. Dufrene was retired from the Texaco plant in Paradis with 32 years of 
service.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 21 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church 
in Des Allemands.

Mary Helen Kelly, a native of Mississippi and resident of Luling, passed away on 
Feb. 19 after a long battle with Leukemia. She was 73 years old.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Kenny, daughters Judy Burns and Janice 
Nicholas, brothers Charles, Lex and Billy Ray Ervin, 10 grandchildren and four 
great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Dora Ervin, son Jimmy Kelly 
and brothers Medford and Larry Ervin.

Shirley Rogers Plaisance, a native of Larose and resident of Cut Off, passed 
away on Feb. 14. She was 76 years old.

She is survived by her husband, David P. Plaisance, son Charles P. Plaisance, 
daughter Paula P. Guidry, brother Nolan Rogers, sisters Rose R. Cheramie, Ruth 
R. Eymard, Mabel R. Loflin and Geraldine R. Mayeur, and four grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edar and Lydia L. Rogers, son Gary 
Gisclair Sr., brothers Cleveland Rogers and Early Rogers, and sister Carrie R. 
Cheramie.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 
in Cut Off.

Linda Landry Price, a native of Luling and resident of Houma, passed away on 
Feb. 21. She was 44 years old.

She is survived by her parents, Wallace Joe Landry Sr. and Audrey Chatagnier, 
son Ronnie Price, daughters Nancy Landry, Carissa Landry and Jamie Price, 
brothers Mack Landry and Wallace Joe Landry Jr., and sister Brenda L. Grimes and 
her husband Glenn.

Ms. Price was a U.S. Army veteran. 

Services were held on Feb. 25 at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma.

David Neal Stayton, a native of Palestine, Ark. and former resident of Destrehan 
and Kenner, passed away on Feb. 16 in Houston. He was 82 years old. 

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Braud Stayton, son Bill Rieniets, daughters 
Marilyn Rieniets and Jeanne Stayton, three grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 19 in Kenner, followed by burial at St. 
Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan.

John Paul Stone, a native and resident of Luling, passed away on Feb. 14. He was 
21 years old.

Mr. Stone is survived by his parents, Fred J. Stone and Susan I. Stone, 
stepfather William R. Vernor, grandparents Raymond and Anna Pickett and Paul J. 
Stone, great-grandmother Sarah Clewis and sisters Barbie and Jamie Stone.

Religious services were held on Feb. 19 at Mt. Airy Cemetery in Boutte.

Taylor

Charles Michael "Mickey" Taylor of Luling passed away on Feb. 13 at St. Charles 
Hospital. He was 54 years old.

Born in Bastrop on Aug. 11, 1949, he is survived by his wife, Vickie Taylor, son 
Brennon Taylor, daughter Tiffanie Taylor, mother and step-father Mary Ruth and 
Prentis Allred, father and mother-in-law Ernest and Orpha McIntyre and brother 
Glen "Dick" Taylor. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Lemuel John "L.J." Taylor.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 15 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove. 
Pallbearers were Paul Barothy, Eddie Graebert, Dustin Jones, Harold Rigdon, 
Billy Sanders and Regan Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers were Mark and Will 
Gorum.

DeJean

Heloise "Lou" Folse DeJean, a native of Raceland and resident of Harvey, passed 
away on March 8. She was 90 years old.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Holmes, brother Johnny Folse, one 
grandchild and two great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raoul J. DeJean, parents Nelson and 
Clemence Z. Folse, brothers V.J., A.P. and Dennis Folse and sisters Rita Royster 
and Lena Foret.

A memorial service was held on March 11, followed by burial at St. Gertrude 
Cemetery in Des Allemands.

Patrick Charles Dupuy, a native and resident of Lutcher, passed away on March 
16. 

Son of the late Russell J. Dupuy, he is survived by his mother, Zula Singletary 
Dupuy of Lutcher, brothers James Russell and Timothy Gene Dupuy both of 
Birmingham, Ala., sisters Gwendolyn D. Rizzuto of Grand Point, Lynnette D. 
Hidalgo and Patricia Clair Rizzuto of Paulina and Mary Kathleen Chambless of St. 
Amant, 11 nieces and nephews and six great-nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on March 18 at St. Joseph Church Mausoleum 
in Lutcher.

Harry Davis Hoffman, a native of Donaldsonville and resident of Norco, passed 
away on March 10. He was 90 years old.

Mr. Hoffman was husband of the late Alma Braud Hoffman, son of the late Harry A. 
and Elmire Davis Hoffman, father and father-in-law of James and Mary Hoffman, 
grandfather of Lisa A. and Alan Clement and great-grandfather of Brittney, 
Brooke and Brandie Clement, brother of Anna Mae Coriell, Lillian Pilla, Bertha 
Savoia and the late Earl Hoffman.

He was the office manager for National Gypsum Co. with 42 years of service and a 
founder and loyal member of the Marsh Duck Club for over 30 years. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests enrollment of masses.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 15 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Hearth 
Catholic Church in Norco, followed by interment at Ascension Mausoleum in 
Donaldsonville.

March 27. He was 77 years old.

Beloved husband of Lois Rita Toups Johnson for 54 years, devoted father of

C. Hotard of Luling, Shannon B. of Morgan City, Tracy S. of Covington and the 
late Wendell C. Johnson. Father-in-law of Michael Kaplan, Lonie Hotard, Alison 
P. Johnson, Stephanie H. Johnson and Pamela G. Johnson. Son of the late Alphonso 
A. Johnson and Sarah D. Johnson. Brother of Winard Johnson of Senora, Ga., 
Earline J. Jones of Pineville, Florine J. Swinson of Houston, and the late 
Julius T. Herman and Pearl Lee Fralcik; brother-in-law of Louise S. Jonson of 
Texarkana, Ark., William W. Jones of Pineville, Robert Swinson of Houston, Mrie

Mr. Johnson was retired from the Monsanto Chemical Co. after 33 years of 
service. Former owner of Little Schoolhouse Supplies, a U.S. Navy Veteran of 
World War II, a member of the American Legion Post 0401 and the First Baptist 
Church of Luling.

Services were held at First Baptist Church on Paul Maillard Road in Luling on 
March 30.

Alzheimer's Center, 1926 18th St., Kenner.

Gilmer "Chip" Joseph Oubre Jr., a native of New Orleans and resident of Luling, 
passed away on March 9. He was 57 years old.

A retired electrician for Union Carbide, Mr. Oubre was a parishoner at Holy 
Family Catholic Church in Luling and a member of the Knights of Columbus. 

He is survived by his wife, Joy Portier Oubre, father Gilmer Oubre St., son 
Jason Oubre, brother Ward Oubre and sisters Anna Mixon and Sheila Cliebert.

Virgie Marie Cologne Bergeron, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Houma, 
passed away on April 1. She was 74 years old.

She is survived by her daughters, Myra Dupont and her husband Jerome, Mara Oubre 
and her husband Richard and Pamela Ponville and her husband Michael, brother 
Clifton Cologne and his wife Genevieve, sister Shirley Bergeron and her husband 
Kerner, brother-in-law Edison Plaisance, grandchildren Jason Dupont and wife 
Annette, Andrea Dupont, Therell Oubre, Ryan Oubre, Jessica Aysen and husband 
Nick, Joshua Ponville and Jackie Ponville. She was survived, at the time of 
death, by her sister Irma Plaisance, who passed away herself the next day.

She is preceded in death by husband Norman Anthony Bergeron and parents Ernest 
Anthony Cologne and Lavinia Loupe Cologne.

She was a parishoner at St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

Noland Paul "Doogie" Breaux Jr., a native and resident of Bayou Gauche, passed 
away on April 30. He was 34 years old.

Mr. Breaux is survived by his parents, Noland P. Breaux Sr. and Anna Mae 
Bourgeois Breaux, his step-grandfather Jack Flippo, brother Derrell Paul Breaux, 
sister Darnell Breaux Hebert, four nephews and one niece. 

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Noah Anthony Breaux, Georgia 
Matherne Flippo and Noah Adam and Gertrude Plaisance Bourgeois. 

Mr. Breaux was a member of the Arc of St. Charles and the Special Olympics.

Services were held on May 4 at Community Assembly of God Church in Bayou Gauche, 
followed by burial at Sunset Cemetery.

Darnell Dawn Ervin Brunner, native of Collins Miss. and former resident of 
Luling, passed away on April 12. She was 37 years old. 

She is survived by her husband, Lee Brunner, sons Kasey, Chase and Kaleb

one great nephew.

Merston Joseph Doucet, Sr., a native of Iota and resident of Luling, passed away 
on April 11. He was 84 years old. 

A 44-year resident of the parish, Mr. Doucet was a U.S. Army veteran and a 
survivor of Pearl Harbor. 

He is survived by his wife, Angela Bourgeois Doucet, children M.J. Doucet Jr. 
and Effie D. Benoit, sisters Annie Mae D. Taylor and Minnie D. Young, and 
grandchildren Fr. Charles Benoit O.S.B., Kristy Doucet Roach, Regina Benoit

Alise Dean "A.D." Fountain, a retired carpenter, passed away on April 10 of 
emphysema. He was 73 years old.

Mr. Fountain was born in Oklahoma and lived in Destrehan for 34 years. He was a 
U.S. Army veteran. 

He is survived by his wife, Cleovis Fountain, daughters Lahonda Schexnayder, 
Sharon Larkin, Brenda Parker and Gail Dillman, 10 grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.

Denis Vincent Gaubert, a native of Ama and resident of Luling, passed away on 
April 15. He was 78 years old.

daughters Duenna G. Pochˇ, Denise G. Boyd, Leila G. Bourgeois and Jaida G.

Leah Rae G. Cantrelle, 17 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Leah Zeringue Gaubert, 
brothers Lawrence, Norman, Emerson and Clifford Gaubert, sister Agnes G. Adams 
and one grandson.

A U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, Mr. Gaubert was a retired foreman for Shell

Marguerite "Daisy" Walker Haynes, a retired employee of St. Charles Pharmacy in 
Norco, passed away on April 20 of pneumonia at Northshore Regional Medical 
Center in Slidell. She was 84 years old.

Haynes was born in 1919 and lived in Norco for the past 80 years. 

Wife of the late Easil E. Haynes, mother of John E. Haynes and Thomas J. Haynes 
Sr. of Slidell, sister of Georgette Chauvin and a brother, Rudolph "Bud" Walker. 
She is also survived by three grandsons and one great-grandson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Alice Walker, brother Howard 
Walker Sr. and sisters Edna Anderson, Gertrude Brannon, Marie Simecek and 
Cecilia Kracen. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on April 23 at Sacred Heart Church in Norco,

in Luling. She was 81 years old.

Born on April 26, 1922, in Crossett, Ark., she was the daughter of William E. 
and Sarah P. Mize Mace, a member of the Parkview Baptist Church and the Ladies 
Auxilliary of the VFW.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allison V. Jones, brother William Ed 
Mace and sister Loraine Jarmon. 

She is survived by her son, Buddy Jones and his wife Pat of Watauga, Texas, 
daughter Susan J. Weems and her husband Buddy, of Luling, grandchildren Gary 
Jones of Wilson, N.C.; Dawn Lawrence and husband Mike of Washington Terrace,

May 31 at 11 p.m. She was 26.

Des Allemands, Mervin Autin Jr. and Velvet of Paradis, sister Lisa Ann Taravella

Stella S. Morehead, a native of Destrehan and resident of Jonesboro, Ga., passed 
away on May 23. She was 87 years old.

Mrs. Morehead taught CCD at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for 20 years

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Andre Schexnaydre and Marie 
Trosclair Schexnaydre, husband J.C. Morehead, sisters Marie Reine, Iga

Daniel A. Eusea, a native and resident of Luling, passed away on June 8. He was 
79 years old.

He is survived by his sons, Danny, Ernie and Brad Eusea, daughter Deborah Eusea,

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dora P. Eusea, and his parents, Oran and 
Octavie Loupe Eusea.

Patrick T. Ford, Sr., a resident of Luling and native of Boutte, passed away on 
June 19. He was 88 years old.

He is survived by his sons, Warren Ford, Patrick Ford Jr., James Ford, Michael 
Ford and John Ford, by daughters Patricia Faucheux, Romona Eusea, Beryl Trepina 
and Diane North, sisters Rosie Nunez, Edith Forest and Anna Thibodaux, 19 
grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Breaux Ford, parents James and 
Henrietta Toups Ford, brothers Henry, Willie, Peter and Joseph Ford, sisters 
Martha Roberts, Mary Champagne and Susie Champagne and four grandchildren. 

A member of the U.S. Armed services and parishoner at St. Anthony Catholic 
Church, Mr. Ford was a retired maintenance supervisor for St. Charles Parish.

Betty Hays Harmon passed away on June 24 at 8:45 a.m. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, John T. Harmons Jr., sisters Tille 
McLain and Nan Hourigan and parents Pryor Sherman "Pete" Hays and Edna Myers 
Hays. 

She is survived by her sons, John Harmon and wife Annie, Pete Harmon and wife 
Joann and Mark Harmon and Wife Aleta, sisters Geneva Sansbury and Ethel 
"Pryorsie" Hamilton, grandchildren Tommy, Matthew and Michael Harmon, Jennifer 
Gros, Heather Hamilton, Tiffany, Hays, Stacy and Val Harmon, and six great-
grandchildren. 

A native of Lebanon, KY and resident of Luling, she was 72 years old. 

She was owner of Thrift and Curio of Boutte and a retired employee of Rousell's 
Antiques of Boutte and former employee of the St. Charles Library in Hahnville.

Services were held on June 26 at Samart Funeral Home in Raceland, followed by 
interment in St. Charles Cemetery.

Camille B. Hutchins, a native of Paradis and resident of Lufkin, Texas, passed 
away on June 20. She was 70 years old.

Mrs. Hutchins was the daughter of the late Frank Claude and Nita Mestayer 
Bertrand. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she is survived by 
her son, Michael Hutchins of Lufkin, sons and daughters-in-law Scott and Debbie 
Hutchins of Coppell, Texas and Gary and Linda Hutchins of Denver, Colo., 
grandchildren Parker and Kacey Hutchins, Logan Hutchins and Austin Lamb, brother 
and sister-in-law Leroy and Cathy Bertrand of Port Arthur, Texas, and sister and 
brother-in-law Cecile and Thomas Cheramie of Paradis. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Hutchins, and her daughter,

William Nelson Kugler, age 80, of League City, Texas passed away on June 1 after 
a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis disease. 

He was a former resident of Norco. 

He is preceded in death by his parents William Nelson Kugler, Sr. and Anna 
LeBlanc Kugler, sister Dorothy K. Babin, and daughter Anna C. Kugler.

Survived by his loving wife of 58 years Margaret Bruce Kugler, daughter Susan

James DeWayne Kugler, grandchildren, Kimberly Kugler Wright and husband Dewayne, 
Charles Kugler, Patrick, Ryan, and Kate Zimmerman, great grandchildren,

Milton Mongrue, a retired rancher, died on June 23 at Oschner Hospital. He was 
88 years old.

A native and resident of Luling, he was a retired Navy veteran of World War II 
and a past deputy of St. Charles Parish. 

He is survived by his wife, Earline Roux Mongrue, sons Courtney and Wade, 
daughters Connie Mars and Wanda St. Martin, seven grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren, sisters Muriel Pumphrey and Cleo Higgins and brother Roland 
Mongrue. 

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Grace Duhe and Myrtle Mongrue.

A Memorial Mass was held on June 25 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in

Nolan Norbert Rochelle Sr. died on June 21. 

He was retired from Shell Oil in Norco as an operations foreman. Nolan was a 
graduate of Catholic High School in Donaldsonville, attended Southeastern 
University and joined Shell in 1952. 

He was the son of the late George and Linda Rochelle of Good Hope. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Jackson Rochelle, and 
daughter Mary Carol. He is survived by his beloved wife Josie Weimer-Rochelle, 
sons Nolan N. Rochelle Jr., Ponnie Rochelle and Jeffrey Rochelle, daughters Rose 
Naquin, Bonnie Check, Joe Martin, Jill Simon and Lynnie Waguespack, 
stepdaughters Terry Acosta and Monica McCune, brothers Wendell Rochelle and 
Bruce Rochelle, sisters Norma Jobert, Linda Melancon and Marion Rochelle, 19 
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Marie Halbrook Scott, a homemaker and real estate agent, died Wednesday at the 
River Parishes Hospital, in Laplace. She was 86.

Mrs. Scott was born in Calhoun, La. and had lived in Luling, La. for the past 
several years. 

She is survived by a loving family of two sons, William Michael Halbrook and 
wife Teri of Shreveport, and John Halbrook and wife Sandra of Luling. 

She leaves a loving host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and 
nephews.

Frances Spiers, a native of Carson, Miss. and resident of Carriere, Miss., 
passed away on June 3 in Houston. She was 73 years old.

A member of First United Methodist Church, she obtained a bachelor's degree in 
education from the University of Southern Mississippi and taught elementary 
school for over 33 years in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Michigan.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Spiers, daughter Celeste Yanes and her 
husband Dr. Jaime Yanes, four grandchildren, mother Reyda King Worthy, and 
siblings Willie Speights, Cleatus Earl Worthy Jr., Paul Worthy, Kay Deen, Nancy 
Weir and Mavis Bagley.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cleatus Earl Worthy Sr., daughter Janes

David Frederic Keeling, a native of Moultrie, Ga. and a resident of Bayou 
Gauche, passed away on July 10. He was 58 years old.

Mr. Keeling was an active member of a 12-step fellowship and an avid fisherman

Charlene S. Troxler, Elaine T. and the late Randy W. Barnes, and Tommy J. and

Ryder Troxler, Clint Troxler, Katie Troxler, Jessica Barnes, Joey Troxler and 
Jason Troxler; great-grandfather of Torey and Julianna Simoneaux; son of the

George E. Wilson Sr., "Papa George," of 204 Asphodel Drive, Dothan, Ala. died on 
July 30 at Flowers Hospital with his family by his side. He was 79 years old.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 2 at First Baptist Church with Dr. James Reed 
officiating. Burial was held at Memory Hill Cemetery. 

Mr. Wilson was born on Feb. 13, 1925, in Lucien, Miss. He was one of 14 
children. He moved to south Louisiana as a child and remained there throughout 
his young adult life. That is where he met his wife of 53 years, Betty Jane 
Mahoney. They resided in Dothan for almost 30 years. He was a member of the 
First Baptist Church of Dothan and a member of the Masonic Order. George was a 
man of many professions. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a welder, jeweler, 
businessman, husband, father, grandfather and a great friend to many. He was an 
avid Christian, outdoorsman and loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Betty M. Wilson, children Steve Wilson and his wife 
Annette, George E. Wilson Jr. and his wife Debbie, all of Dothan, daughter Pam 
Smith and her husband Gary of Norco, Kathy Danburg and husband Dr. Danny Danberg 
of Baton Rouge, grandchildren Stephanie Wilson Price, Melissa Wilson and Amanda

Aug. 7. He was 85 years old.

Champagne, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jack Pennington Bagby, age 76, a retired mechanical engineer at Shell Norco, 
died at his home on Thursday, Aug. 5. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Rosemary Hilsheimer Bagby. He is 
the father and father-in-law of Linda and Gary Lowry and Jamie and Patrice 
Bagby. Grandchildren include John Michael and Stacy Walker, Joey and Michael 
Lowry and Brandon and Jennifer Bagby. Great-granddaughter is Maggie Walker.

Jack received his masters of engineering degree from the University of 
Cincinnati in 1953 then moved to Norco to work at Shell Oil. He retired from 
Shell Norco in 1987. Jack was an elder at First Union Presbyterian Church in 
Luling, served several terms on the Board of Directors at the Louisiana Federal 
Credit Union and volunteered at the Norco Adult Day Care Center.

A funeral service was held at First Union Presbyterian Church in Luling on Aug. 
9.

Judy Tregre Bourg, a resident of Luling, passed away on Aug. 26. She was 61 
years old.

She is survived by her husband, Gary P. Bourg, mother Marie Anderman Tregre, son

Raymond "R.J." Tregre Jr., Radford Tregre, Ronnie Tregre, Ricky Tregre and Barry 
Tregre, sisters Betty Price and Naina Alford, and six grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Tregre Sr., and brother Larry 
Tregre.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 28 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic

Beulah Roberts Cortez, a native of Hahnville and resident of Dubberly, passed 
away on Aug. 5. She was 83 years old. 

She is survived by her husband, Ernest J. Cortez Jr., sons Richard Foster, 
Stanley Foster, Lane Foster and Ernest Cortez III, grandchildren Angela Brien, 
Denise Matherne, Amie Knuppel, Renee Decuers, Tammy Foster, Jason Foster, 
Michael Foster, Jamie Foster, Lane Foster Jr., Britt Foster, Charlie Foster, 
Charmaine Cortez, Evan Cortez, Katie Cortez and Emma Cortez, 15 grandchildren 
and 14 great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by her parents, Emile and Rita Friloux Roberts, and her 
grandson Stanley Foster Jr.

Religious services were held on Aug. 9 at the Mennonite Church in Des Allemands.

Norma Mae Cupit, retired owner of a Western Auto store, died on Aug. 21 at 
Kenner Regional Medical Center. She was 77 years old.

Mrs. Cupit was born in New Orleans and lived in Norco for the past 44 years. 

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Reif and Sandy Mannear, and six 
grandchildren. 

A funeral was held at St. Charles United Methodist Church in Destrehan, followed 
by burial at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.

Rose Mary LeBlanc Dufrene, a native of Chocktaw and resident of Luling, passed 
away on Aug. 5. She was 67 years old.

She is survived by her son, Todd Dufrene, daughters Patricia Stanley, Cindy 
Breaux, Claire Matherne and Valerie Brown, sisters Agnes Galliano, Daisy 
Comardelle, Helen Menely and Theresa Evans, and 11 grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her companion James J. Dufrene Sr., parents Norbert 
LeBlanc and Clarice Hebert LeBlanc, brother Van LeBlanc and sisters Clara Landry 
and Ruth LeBlanc.

Lonie Landry Evans, a native of Darrow and resident of Gretna and Harvey, died 
at her home on Aug. 14. She was 88 years old.

Beloved wife of the late Frank E. Evans, Jr., mother of Sally E. Church of 
Luling, Diane M. Evans, Frank E. Evans III, Michael D. Evans and Nancy V. Evans; 
mother-in-law of Donald Dean Church, Maureen White Evans, and Rachel Vasquez 
Evans; daughter of the late Ellen Marchand Landry and Olibert Paul Landry; 
sister of Sue Eunice Horrigan, the late Ellen Landry, Ethel Robert and Percy 
Landry. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church on Aug. 17.

away on Aug. 28. She was 61 years old.

Anna Mae V. Giangrosso, age 90, died on Aug. 24 at St. Joseph Nursing Home in 
Harahan. 

She was born in Loreauville and lived in Norco for 60 years. 

Wife of the late Freddie Giangroso; mother of three sons, Frederick, Bernard and 
Gerald Giangrosso; mother-in-law of Dorothy, Barbara and Marian Giangrosso; 
daughter of the late Annette R. Verret and the late Dernquille Verret; sister of 
Joyce Dautherive and the late Allen C. Verret, the late Curtis Verret and the 
late Ethel Keller; grandmother of four and great-grandmother of two. She is also 
survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norco. 
Entombment was at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Mausoleum in Destrehan.

Pearl Marie Becnel Keller died at her home of natural causes on Aug. 17. 

Beloved wife of the late Eddie Keller, she is survived by her loving "daughter" 
and niece, Jan Weber Mauduit and son-in-law Dale Mauduit; nieces and their 
spouses Carolyn Mel DeJean, Stephanie and Kenneth Patrick, Michele and Barry, 
Florence and Sylvia Chauvin, and by her siblings, Lut Becnel, Sydney Becnel, Al 
Becnel, Rita Becnel Weber, Grace Becnel Keller and Mary Becnel Braud, and 
numerous other nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joseph Sydney Becnel and 
Malvina Marie Bossier, siblings Roy Becnel, Dickie Becnel and Louise Becnel 
Babin and great-niece Renee Mauduit.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 20 at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Norco, 
followed by entombment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.

Joel "Joe" Lucky of Luling passed away on Aug. 28. 

Beloved husband of Joan Amos Lucky; father of Joel S. Lucky and Stafford C. 
Lucky; father-in-law of Kristie Lucky and Julie Lucky; son of the late Benjamin 
C. Lucky and Dana Bauman Lucky; grandfather of Madison Lucky, Mason Lucky, 
Jordan Lucky and Carson Lucky. 

Mr. Lucky was a collector of antique memorabilia and antique cara. He was 
retired from Monsanto and was a Realtor, a member of First Baptist Church in 
Luling and the first Republican to run for office in St. Charles Parish.

Memorial services were held on Aug. 30 at First Baptist Church in Luling.

Kelli Matherne and her companion Sandi Brignac.

Verlie Plaisance Matherne, a native of Gheens and resident of Raceland, passed 
away on Aug. 13. She was 70 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Percy Lee Matherne, son Dean Matherne and his 
wife Roxanne, daughter Paula Schouest and her husband Milton Jr., Penny Savoie 
and her husband Brian, April Detiveaux and her husband Edward Jr., brothers 
Spergin, Levy Jr., Michael, David, Chris and Tommy Plaisance, sisters Leanne 
Dufrene, Genelle Cheramie and Judy Lapeyrousse, and seven grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Levy and Pauline Matherne Plaisance and 
stepmother Adelia Plaisance.

A parishoner at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church, she was also an Avon 
representative and member of the Ladies Altar Society, V.F.W. and Knights of 
Columbus and a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital of New Orleans and Raceland Manor.

Bonette Lemoine, mother of Jacqueline Mitchell Robert, Norco, Ernest L. 
Mitchell, Slidell, and the late Raymond M. Mitchell, sister of the late Henry, 
Paul, Lester and Eddie Lemoine, Nell Mejia and Verdie Voisell. She is also 
survived by eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great 
grandchildren.

Felix J. Peyregne, a native of Ama and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on 
Aug. 16. He was 80 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Cortez Peyregne, son Philip Peyregne, 
daughters Phyllis Comardelle and Kathy Sigmon, grandchildren Philip Peyregne 
Jr., Joey Peyregne, William Sigmon, Steven Sigmon and Courtney Comardelle, and 
great-grandchild Kaid Comardelle. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix E. and Elmira Zeringue Peyregne. 
Mr. Peyregne was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

away on Aug. 20. She was 79 years old.

grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jeanne Dugas Peyregne, brother

Daniel "Dan" Lynn Waterman, a native and resident of Des Allemands, passed away 
on Aug. 14. He was 50 years old.

He is survived by his sisters, Sandra Flowers and Patricia Berkey. He is 
preceded in death by his parents, Howard S. and Rita Zeller Waterman, brother 
Mennaugh "Joe" Waterman and sister Nora Waterman.

Religious services were held on Aug. 19 at the Des Allemands Mennonite Church.

Yoes

Henry Eugene "Gene" Yoes, Jr., long time publisher and editor of the St. Charles 
Herald, died on August 30 in his home in Gonzales. He was 81 years old.

Yoes was born in Baton Rouge in 1923 and graduated from Istrouma High School 
before entering the U. S. Army and participating in World War II. Upon 
completion of his military service, he reentered Louisiana State University 
where he graduated in journalism in 1948. He then began working for the 
Abbeville Meridioinal newspaper. He re-enlisted in the U. S. Army, but again 
returned to civilian life working for the Lafourche Comet newspaper. In 1954, he 
purchased the St. Charles Herald and moved to St. Charles Parish.
During approximately forty years as editor and publisher of the Herald, he and 
the newspaper won several Louisiana Press Association Awards, including the 
Community Service Award, considered by many the highest award of the 
organization. He also edited the Kenner City News for a while. Yoes also 
operated HEY Services, Inc., an employment agency in Jefferson Parish during the 
1970's.

In 1991, he authored the book, "The Pursuit of Academic Excellence," a history 
of education in St. Charles Parish.

Prior to his death, Yoes resided with his daughter, Tracy and son-in-law, 
Richard Favrot, who cared for him during a long battle with cancer. Yoes had 
survived throat cancer during the 1970's. 

He is survived by eight children, Henry E. Yoes, III of Lake Charles, Marsha Y. 
Sciortino of Mandeville, Pamela Y. Leon of Baton Rouge, Michael Yoes, Sr. of 
Destrehan, Cynthia Yoes of Grand Isle, Patrick Yoes, Sr. of Norco, Rebecca Y. 
Becnel of Luling and Tracy Yoes of Gonzales; 21 grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren, three daughters-in-law, four sons-in-laws.

The wake will be Sunday, Sept. 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Alexander Funeral 
Home in Norco. 

A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 
6. Burial will follow at St. Charles cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge are 
requested. 
The family wishes to offer special thanks to Gene's "fourth son," Richard Favrot 
for taking care of him these past eight years.

Clarabelle Walker Danos, a native and resident of LaRose, passed away on Sept. 
4. She was 84 years old.

She is survived by her sons Miller Danos, the Very Rev. Dean Danos, daughter-in-
law Mae Ann Lefort Danos, daughter Rita Danos Graver, son-in-law Buddy Graver, 
brothers Alcide Walker and Jerry Walker, sisters Rose Mae Breaux, Bertha 
Allemand and Gloria Walker, nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alcide Walker Sr. and Evelyn Orgeron 
Walker, brother Stanley Walker, sister Marjorie Rogers, granddaughter Tammy 
Graver Balliviero and great-grandson Jared Graver.

A parishoner at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she was a member of 
the Ladies Altar Society and Brides of the Most Blessed Trinity.

Perry F. Louque Jr., a retiree of Kaiser, died at the age of 66 on Sept. 7 at 
his residence in Grand Point.

Beloved husband of 46 years to Lonna Joy Zeringue Louque, he was the father of 
daughters and sons-inl-aw Bonnie Louque Pochˇ and Steven Pochˇ, Della Donaldson 
Louque, Dawn Louque Mitchell and Lionel Mitchell; and sons and daughters-in-law 
Jody Louque and Kathy Madere Louque, Scott Louque and Della Donaldson Louque; 
brother of Rodney and Jeannie Louque of Metairie, Randy and Brenda Louque of 
Grand Point; grandfather of Laci and Craig Brignac and Shea Ivey, Jennie and 
Matt Louque, Cory, Alexis and Avarie Louque, Dylan and Colin Mitchell; step-
grandfather of Mason Pochˇ; and great-grandfather of Zachary Brignac, Kadynn 
Rousell and Whitney Banks. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Perry F. Louque Sr., and mother Martha 
Oubre Loque.

Perry enjoyed his lifelong hobbies of hunting, fishing and bowling. He was a 
medalist in the Sr. Olympics and will be remembered for his love of dancing.

Vial

Dr. David "Jerry" Vial, longtime coroner of St. Charles Parish, died of lymphoma 
on Sept. 8. He was 76 years old.

A native of Hahnville and resident of Luling, Vial became coroner on June 7, 
1967 and has served in that position ever since. He was a member of the St. 
Charles Masonic Lodge #445, and the Consistory and Jerusalem Temple. He was also 
an early board member and doctor at St. Charles Parish Hospital.

He is survived by his first wife, Beverly Barre Vial, sons David J., Stephen O., 
J. Kenneth, D. Frederick and L. Andre Vial, daughters M. Monica Vial Benson, 
Lisa V. Brosser, Beverly V. Chester and Francesca, Alicia and Christina Vial, 
his brother Leon C. Vial III, 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his second wife, Alice Grizzaffi Vial, parents Leon 
C. Vial Jr. and Lucile Lowe Vial, and son Leon P. Vial.

Religious Services were held on Sept. 11 at First Union Presbyterian Church in 
Luling, followed by burial at St. Charles Cemetery.

DES ALLEMANDS - Clara "Sis" Brupbacher Dufrene, 87, a native of Thibodaux and 
resident of Des Allemands, died Dec. 28, 2004. She was the wife of the late 
Tracy Dufrene, and mother of Marlin Dufrene.

She was also the daughter of the late Otto Sr., and Lydia Pertuit Brupbacher, 
and sister of Ruth Roy, Thelma Bernard, Ida Doland, Betty Ruiz, Gerry Vannoy, 
John, Jesse and Glen Brupbacher, and the late Orrie and Otto Brupbacher Jr.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was the owner of Sis' Flowers and Gifts for 43 years.
Services were Dec. 31 at Des Allemands Mennonite Church, with interment at the 
church cemetery.

PARADIS - Mirley Rodrigue Lirette, 77, a native of Chackbay and resident of 
Paradis, died Dec. 29, 2004. She was the wife of Earl Lirette and mother of 
Karen Boudreaux and Byron Lirette. She is preceded in death by one infant son.
She was also the daughter of the late Morris and Clemence Martin Rodrigue, and 
sister of the late Mildred Folse and Nolan Rodrigue.

She is also survived by four grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 3 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paradis, with 
interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
