"Smot" Dufrene, Sr., 68, of Des Allemands. entered into heavens enternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 22, 2007. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He truly loved the great outdoors and bayous of Louisiana. Hunting and fishing was one of his great loves. He was a devoted husband, father and most important a true child of God. She was the beloved wife of her dearly departed husband Lloyd "Nemo" Donahue and daughter of the late May Krieger Hahn and Fredrick John Hahn, Sr. A loving sister to Dolores H. Walker and Fredrick J. Hahn, Jr. She was the devoted mother of her daughters Patricia Mark and Susan Thibodeaux and their husbands Carl and John. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Shelley, Kim, Sean, Jennifer & Keith and their respective spouses and a proud great-grandmother of 6, Devon, Kyle, Kelly, Christopher, Brandon and Caroline. Gassen, Sr. born January 10, 1918 in Luling, LA, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of the late Aline Gassen. Beloved father of the late Sidney F. Gassen, Jr. (husband of Delores Gassen). Grandfather of Sidney F. Gassen,III, Chris Gassen, Curtis Gassen, Ross Gassen and Brandon Gassen. He was survived by seven great grandchildren. and one great great grandchild. Sidney was a lifetime residence of Luling, LA. She was born to exceptional parents: Norman Wigle (96 years young and still with us today) and Ann Degonia Lovonia Zerkus Wigle in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25th, 1932. Grandma Ann Wigle predeceased her on Nov. 14, 2003. She graduated from Tarpon Springs High School in Florida in June of 1949 and married John Melvin Nolan, a Chief in the US Navy. Ms. Burns was licensed in several southern states as a consultant and instructor of nurses and health care professionals. Mariann Rose Wigle Nolan Burns was a longtime resident of Luling, St. Charles Parish. She then moved and resided at Wynhoven in Marrero for the past two years. During his time at school, he worked for Continental Oil Company and after graduation he went to work for International Business Machines retiring after 36 years. During his time with IBM, Mr. Madere supported NASA Space programs, Mercury, Gemini and Apollo in Huntsville, Al. While in Charleston, SC as a Branch Manager for IBM, Mr. Madere supported military bases to include the Charleston Naval Yard, Charleston Air Force Base, Naval Weapons Station, and the Marine base at Parris Island along with many other businesses. He is active in the local civic club in Cooper Estates working to continually improve theboat landing and was honored this year when the civic club named the landing, Madere's Landing. He was also active in Boy Scouts in the Mount Pleasant Community serving as Commissioner and Eagle Scout coordinator for several years. In 2003 Chad moved to his beloved Costa Rica where he made another world of friends and lived his life in a setting of tranquil beauty overlooking the mountains, rain forest, and Pacific Ocean. Funeral Services will be co-officiated by Reverended John Finn and Reverend John Perino. The family requested visitation be observed from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. then followed by Mass of Christian burial at Holy Family Catholic Church on Jan. 15. He was laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette on Jan. 16. Serving as pallbearers were sons, Brian Fabre and Leon Rudolph Fabre Jr.; brothers, Mark Fabre and Richard Fabre; and nephews, Mark H. Fabre, David Fabre, Lonnie Fabre, Ricky Fabre and Mike Bourque. Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd. in Marrero handled arrangements. A native of Kaplan and resident of Luling for 42 years. He was a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana University with a degree in Zoology and Chemistry in 1964. He was one of 20 employees employed by Union Carbide Taft plant. He retired as a production maintenance supervisor in 1998 with 33 years of service. Leon served his community as a member of the Coastal Zone Management Committee and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband and father, who enjoyed sharing time with his family and friends, playing golf, reading and working crosswords puzzles. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family. He is survived by his wife Madeline Comeaux Fabre of 43 years and their four children, Jacquine Fabre Melancon and her husband, Glenn of Sherman, Texas; Brian Fabre and wife Andrea Friloux Fabre of Luling; Michelle Fabre Boudreaux and her husband Timothy of Luling; Leon Rudolph Fabre Jr. and wife Jeanine Malbrough Fabre of Luling; Also survived by three siblings, Margaret Bourque of Houston, Texas; Mark Fabre and Richard Fabre of Luling and seven grandchildren, who affectionally called him "Pere" Christopher and Alexandre Melancon, Brandie, Kaylie, Cameron and Emersyn Fabre and his mother, Cecelia Kite Fabre and a younger brother, David B.
