Audrey Hebert Champagne passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 6:20 a.m 
in Jefferson.

Beloved wife of Allen Champagne. Mother of Gill Champagne, Barbara Champagne, 
Wendy Boyce and Tammy Haydel. Daughter of the late Emile and Clarice P. Hebert. 
Sister of the late Donald and Alvin Hebert. Also survived by 11 grandchildren 
and 1 great grandchild. A native of Paradis and a resident of Ama. Age 81 
years. 

Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the funeral. A Mass 
of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, Ama on Friday, 
December 19, 2008.

Dec 23, 2008

Walter H. "Skeeter" Hebert, III, age 52, passed away on Monday, Dec. 8. 

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, 
grandson, uncle and nephew.

Skeeter is survived by his wife Wanda Brown Hebert. His daughters Layla Lea 
Hebert (Kenneth Musgrove "deceased") and Heather Rae' Hebert. And his 
grandchildren Krislyn Kelbee Hebert and Kenneth Virgil Hebert. Also survived by 
his father Walter J. Hebert Jr., mother Betty Harrell Hebert, and his sister 
Charlene H. Gutierrez.

Also survived by his paternal grandmother Jeanette C. Hebert. Other surviving 
family members include his mother-in-law Beatrice Brown, sister-in-law Delcie 
B. Adams (Ronald), brothers-in-law Wade Brown and Rickey Brown and numerous 
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Predeceased by his paternal grandfather Walter H. Hebert Sr. and his maternal 
grandparents Charles S. Harrell and Virgie G. Harrell, and his father-in-law 
Virgil Brown. 

Skeeter was as lifelong resident of Paradis and later Ama, and worked most of 
his adult life for Witco Chemical Corporation (Crompton Corp.) until he became 
ill. 

Relatives and friends were invited to religious services on Friday, Dec. 12 at 
Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland.

Palmire "Pat" S. Mateja passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 8:05 p.m. 
at St. Charles Parish Hospital, Luling, LA. A native of New Sarpy, La. She was 
Catholic.

SURVIVORS: daughter, Paula Mateja Chiasson and her husband, Steven of 
Destrehan, LA; sisters: Isabelle Zeringue, Clorine Zeringue, and Helen 
Zeringue; brothers: Urban Schexnaydre and his wife, Sandra; and Thomas 
Schexnaydre and his wife, Diane; and grandchildren: Stephanie and Dylan 
Chiasson. Preceded in death by: husband, Steve Mateja; parents: Francois and 
Marie Clorinne Troxclair Schexnaydre; sisters; Phedelise Zeringue and Dora 
Zeringue; and brother; Francois E. Schexnaydre.

Visitation on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at 
the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, LA. Mass of Christian 
Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. from St. Charles Borromeo with Fr. Harry 
Bugler officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo 
Mausoleum.

Eleaner Granier Matherne passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at 10:10 p.m. 
in Des Allemands.

Beloved wife of Jack Matherne. Mother of Marlon J. Matherne and his wife Kem, 
Jackie Williams and her husband Joey, Myra Baudoin and her husband Avery and 
Rachelle Tregle and her husband Baron.

Grandmother of Kayla and Macie Matherne, Brittany and Morgan Baudoin, Andrew 
and Ian Tregle. Daughter of Sedonia Dempster and the late Ivan F. Granier. Step 
daughter of Celestine Dempster. Sister of Irvin Granier and his wife Faye, 
David Granier and his wife Trudy, Adeline Foster and her husband Richard and 
Loretta Landry and her husband Earl. 

A native and resident of Des Allemands. Age 71 years.

MONTZ
Dec 23, 2008

Geraldine Montz passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 9:30 p.m. at River 
Parishes Hospital, at age 97.

A native of Garyville. and lifetime resident of St. Charles Parish. She began 
teaching on a teachers certificate from Louisiana State Normal for two years 
and for 25 years of Saturdays at Loyola University and received her degree in 
education. Retired school teacher with the St. Charles Parish School Board 
after 41 years. 

She was a Catholic. Preceded in death by: parents, Henri Samuel and Henriette 
Keller Montz.

Visitation: Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the 
Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 
a.m. from Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with interment to follow at Our 
Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft  with Father Terry Hayden 
officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.

NAQUIN
Dec 23, 2008

Cynthia Gros Naquin, 58, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Des Allemands, 
died after a valiant fight with cancer on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church 
in Des Allemands. 

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Stanford J. Naquin; four sons, 
Blaine, Blake, Barrett and Brady; three daughters-in-law, Natalie, Mary and 
Brook Naquin; five siblings, Wayne, Ricky, Timmy, Chris and Julie G. Ellis; 
five half-brothers and half-sister, Bobby, Jerry, Billy, Daryl Gros and Sherry 
Gros; five grandchildren; and numerous relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitney J. Gros Jr. and Shirley 
Aucoin; and two sisters, Peggy Gros and Susan G. Peltier.

Nov 12, 2008

Larry J. Babin, age 84 years, beloved husband of Doris Melancon Babin for the 
past 60 years, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2008.

A native of New Sarpy and a resident of Norco. 

Father of Sandra B. Boucvalt, Craig (wife, Christina) Babin, Mark (wife, Ana) 
Babin, Robin B. Robicheaux (husband, Steven) and Kent Babin. Also survived by 
sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Brother of Judith 
Caillouet, Alice Murphy and Mildred Potera. 

Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Josephine Babin, brother Lester Babin 
and sister, Hilda Weber. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was also 
a lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion. He retired from the banking 
business after 50 years. 

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 
Mass of Christian Burial was held with interment that followed in the St. 
Charles Mausoleum, Destrehan. Fr. John Marse officiated.

PLATTSMIER
Nov 12, 2008

On Oct. 29, 2008 Ryan Plattsmier found peace. 

Ryan was the much loved son of Randy and Mary Ann Plattsmier and beloved 
brother, Derek, and his canine "buddy," Lou. Ryan is also survived by his 
loving grandfather, Hurschel "Popee" Burleigh and a host of aunts, uncles, 
cousins and so, so many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rod "Pa Pa" and "Dot" 
Plattsmier and by his maternal grandmother Ruby "Momee" Burleigh.

The love of music enriched Ryan's life.  He played the bass guitar in a local 
and nationally traveled New Orleans based band, "The Public."  He was an avid 
outdoorsman and regularly outdid his Dad and brother in their many forays on 
the waterways and in the woods.  Ryan was an avid football fan and lived for 
the Saints and LSU seasons. 

He loved his extended family, and cherished large family get togethers where 
Cajun cuisine was the chosen fare.  Ryan was 31 and resided in Luling.  

Relatives and friends of the family attended a funeral Mass at Holy Family 
Church, 155 Holy Family Lane, Luling. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2008.  Interment 
followed at Sunset Cemetery in Bayou Gauche.

Norma Elizabeth Dufrene passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 in Patterson. 

Beloved daughter of the late Edmond Dufrene, Sr. and Ella Hogan Dufrene. Sister 
of Edmond Dufrene, Jr., Tim Dufrene, Donovan Dufrene and Elaine Stinnett. Also 
survived by 11 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

A native of Bayou Gauche and a resident of Patterson. Age 61 years. 

Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the funeral on Oct. 
15 at Life Fellowship Community Church in Bayou Gauche. Interment Sunset 
Cemetery.

Priscilla Theresa St. Amant Moore departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, 
Oct. 15, 2008 at the age of 63.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her father William J. St. Amant and is 
survived by her mother, Dorothy Roux St. Amant. Loving sister of Don St. Amant 
(wife, Iris), Billie Simoneaux (husband, Earl), Dorothy Dufresne (husband, 
Edward), and Clifford St. Amant (wife, Gale).

Prissy was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. Her memory will be cherished by 
many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Throughout her life 
she bestowed a deep love and affection to all she touched. Her tremendous faith 
and religious devotion will carry on in our hearts forever. 

She was formerly employed as a secretary with Union Oil, Tulane University and 
Monsanto - Luling plant.

The family would like to thank the staff for the kind and compassionate care 
received from East Jefferson Hospital and Ormond Nursing and Care Center. 

Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend services at Our Lady 
of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 at 11 a.m. 
Visitation for the friends will be held from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian 
Burial. Interment will follow in St. Charles Cemetery - Crucifixion Mausoleum.

WITTE

Margaret Sumners Witte, 98, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Oct. 6, 
2008 in Tallahassee, Fla.

She was born on Feb. 2, 1910 in Natchez, Miss. to Harry and Edith Sprague De 
Witt.  She graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge during the 
Great Depression and taught high school in Sicily Island.  She married Alvie 
Cecil Sumners, and subsequently lived in Baton Rouge, Algiers and Paradis. 

Beginning in the early 50s, she taught high school English in St. Charles 
Parish.  After the death of Cecil Sumners in 1964, she continued teaching until 
the early 70's. In the mid-70's, she married Louis John Witte, and the couple 
divided their time between Santa Monica, Calif. and Paradis.  Widowed a second 
time, Margaret moved to Tallahassee, Fla. in 1981 to be near family, and lived 
in the Lafayette Park neighborhood.  She was an active member of Trinity United 
Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Circle Nine. 

She is survived by two sons, Cecil Sumners Jr. (Betty) of Charlotte, N.C., and 
De Witt Sumners (Neddy) of Tallahassee, Fla.  Also surviving are five 
grandchildren, Edith Sumners Ross of Cornelia, Ga., Joanna Sumners Snyder 
(Scott) of Tallahassee, Fla., Laura-Kaye Sumners Norman (John) of Waxhaw, N.C, 
Julia Sumners Anderson (Derry) of Plano, Texas, and Lee Keller Sumners of San 
Francisco, Calif.  She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren:  Joanna 
Cecile Ross, Frances Marin Ross and Helen Ward Ross of Cornelia, Ga.; Margaret 
Hayes Snyder and Kellett Marie Snyder of Tallahassee, Fla.; Luke Joseph 
Anderson, Lauren Elizabeth Anderson, and Julia Claire Anderson of Plano, Texas; 
Jonah Bryant Norman, Hannah Elizabeth Norman, and Lily Sumners Norman of 
Waxhaw, N.C.  Daughter Margaret Cecile Sumners, and great-grandson James De 
Witt Ross predeceased Margaret.  

The family appreciates the very special care given to Margaret by Maple 
Hamilton and by Big Bend Hospice. 

Graveside services were held at the St. Charles Cemetery and Mausoleum in 
Luling, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10.  A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. 
on Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 120 W. Park Avenue, 
Tallahassee, Fla., with a reception that followed at 650 East Sixth Avenue, 
Tallahassee.

Mary Catherine Pellegrin Bouvier, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at 
3:41 a.m. in Belle Chasse. 

Beloved wife of Ernest Bouvier, Jr. Mother of Jerry Bouvier and wife Nanette 
and Catherine Gunn and husband Mike. Daughter of the late Neville and Lucy 
Lampo Pellegrin. Sister of Harlan Pellegrin, Lucy Guidry, Agatha "Tee" Rhodes 
and the late N.J. Pellegrin. Grandmother of Caitlin Gunn and Alaina Bouvier. A 
native of Larose/Cut Off and a resident of Larose. 

Age 72 years. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Ladies Altar Society and the 
Knights of Columbus Auxilliary.

of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 4 at noon at Our Lady of 
the Rosary Catholic Church, Larose. Interment Holy Rosary Cemetery. Visitation

Trysten Brown Canaski passed away on Oct. 6, 2008. Trysten joined the Lord's 
Choir of Angels at the age of 2 years and 3 weeks. 

He is survived by his mom and dad, June and Chris Canaski. Maternal grandmother 
Lupe Sweeny, paternal grandmother Paula Canaski, Nanny Pat Baudoin and Parran 
Alden Baudoin. Trysten is also survived by three brothers: Michael Canaski, 
Joshua Baudoin and Ricky Baudoin; two sisters: Nicole Deming and Jennifer 
Canaski, along with several aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews. 

Services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cordov, Alaska on Oct. 14.

Reed J. Folse, 77, a native and resident of Raceland, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday 
Sept. 26, 2008.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic 
Church in Raceland, with burial in the church cemetery. 

He is survived by one son, Jan R. Folse and wife, Lynn; three daughters, 
Lynelle F. Arabie and husband, Dana, Laurie F. Matherne and husband, Dirk, and 
Lia F. Wascom and husband, Alex; two brothers, Clayton Folse and Pott Folse; 
three sisters, Leonelle "Nan" Melancon, Zefa Penisson and Helen Zeringue; and 
seven grandchildren, Ben Arabie, Evan Matherne, Colin Matherne, Grant Wascom, 
Connor Wascom, Andre'Folse and Alexis Folse.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Sylvia A. Folse; his parents, 
Emile A. and Serelia Bourgeois Folse; and two brothers, Harold Folse Sr. and 
Hodges "Dee Dee" Folse Sr. 

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Mary's 
Nativity Catholic Church.

A special love, thanks and blessings to Evelyn Lodrigue and Cecile Loupe for 
their exceptional care and devotion to Reed and Sylvia Folse.

Marie Amelia Boe' Laiche passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 at 10:45 a.m. 

Beloved wife of Irvin (Tutone) Laiche for 59 years. Devoted mother of Nancy 
Loupe and fiancee Mike Lemoine. Grandmother of Brandon Loupe and fiancˇe Kelley 
Graves and Faith L. Compton and husband Tommy. Great-grandmother of Brennen, 
Sloane and Isabella Loupe and Kyleigh Graves. Daughter of the late Jean 
Baptiste and Marie Klibert Boe'. Sister of O'Neil, John and Leonard Boe', Rita 
Bonadona, Laura Hutchinson & the late Jim Boe' & Hilda Crumpton. 

She will be sadley missed by loving nieces, nephews and many friends. Age 87. 

A native of Vacherie and a resident of Norco for the past 59 years.

Nickie Lynn Vitrano Nicks, 53, died on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at her home in 
Granbury, Texas, after a short battle with cancer.

Nickie was born and raised in Luling, then moved to Texas in 1985 when she 
married Craig Nicks.  She was a loving mother who worked as a teaching 
assistant in Granbury. 

She is survived by her children Ashley Nicks Wootan, husband Paul, Cary Nicks, 
fiancˇ Heather Hensley, parents; Joyce and Nicholas Vitrano, sister; JoAnn 
Helfrich, brother; Darren Vitrano and wife Norma, nieces and nephews; Brittany, 
Heather and Krystal Helfrich, Kristen Vitrano, Brad Breaud, great nephew: Makhi 
Dufrene and close relatives that will miss her dearly. 

Proceeded in death by husband: Craig Nicks, grandparents; Paul and Annie 
Vitrano, Alberta and Julius Jones. 

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 in Granbury, Texas.   

Her ashes will be placed along side her husband, Craig.

Maybelle Baudoin Caillet, age 94, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Oct. 
1, 2008. Born March 6, 1914 in Raceland. She was a resident of Hahnville for 74 
years.

Beloved wife of the late Syle F. Caillet, Sr. for 68 years. Mother of Gerald 
Caillet and wife Madeleine, Syle Caillet, Jr. and wife Patsy and the late 
Sylvia Touchard and husband the late Myron and the late Cynthia Caillet. 
Daughter of the late Tastet Noel Baudoin and Inez R. Baudoin. Sister of Wilson 
Baudoin and the late Earl, Roy, Hubert, Willard, Lloyd Baudoin and Louise B. 
Richard. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. 
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral.

FRILOUX
Oct 08, 2008

At Chauteau Terrebonne in Houma, at 11:55 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2008, 
Winfield Joseph Friloux, Sr., peacefully with family at his side, entered into 
eternal rest. 

After living his adult life in Luling, he moved to Houma in 2006. During his 
lifeltime, he acquired the nicknames "Ducky" and "Chester" and in later life 
"Winn" and "Chet". He was affectionately known to his grandkids and great-
grandkids as "Pappy". 

Winfield was preceded in deah by his loving wife of 48 years, Eunice Savoie 
Friloux. He was the son of the late Leonie Robert Friloux and Denis Friloux. He 
was the father of Kevin Friloux and wife, Angie, Winfield J. "Winnie" Friloux, 
Jr. and wife Cathy, and Keith Friloux and wife, Lauren and the late Donald D. 
Friloux. He was the brother of Clifford, Alvin, Irvin, Amos and Dennis Friloux, 
Melba Lemoine, Dorothy Plaisance and Betty Baudoin.

Also survived by three special sisters-in-law: Ethel Savoie, Roberta Landry and 
Beverly Trayal, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildrenand numerous nieces and 
nephews. 

He was an athlete at Westwego High, where he graduated. He honorably served in 
World War II with the 363rd Engineers; Company D., SS, being discharged with 
the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in the Middle East and received the 
Europeon North African medal, the good conduct and victory medals. He was a 
member of the Luling VFW Post 3750 and Baudoin-Loupe American Legion Post 316.

He was for many years an active member of St. Anthony and Holy Family Parishes 
in Luling. Winfield was a retired homebuilder, building hundreds of homes in 
St. Charles and neighboring parishes. He took special pride in the 
constructions of Willowdale Country Club, of which he was a charter member. He 
was one of the first coaches in the St. Charles Recreation Assocation, teaching 
many young boys to enjoy America's pasttime. He was an avid Saints fan from the 
time of the team coming into New Orleans until the time he left us. He left us 
with his strength, his devotion to his wife and kids and his untiring goodwill.

We will miss him greatly. 

Funeral Mass was on Thursday, Oct. 2 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Luling. 
Interment St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation from 10 a.m. until funeral time 
Thursday at the Church.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." Matt. 25:23 

The Rev. Msgr. James C. (JC, Fr. Jim) Moragne entered eternal rest on Sunday, 
October 5, 2008 at 4:48 p.m. following complications from emergency surgery. 

Fr. Jim was born June 11, 1944, and attended St. Joseph's Seminary in St. 
Benedict, LA where he received his Associate of Arts degree in 1964.

He then attended UNO and received a B.A. in Mathematics in 1970 and taught in 
the St. Tammany Public School system for one year before enrolling at Notre 
Dame Seminary. He was ordained to the Diaconate in May, 1974 and served at St. 
Genevieve's in Slidell until he received his Master's Degree in Divinity and 
was ordained to the Priesthood on May 10, 1975. He became the Associate Pastor 
at St. Francis de Sales Houma before it became part of the new Diocese of 
Houma-Thibodaux.

He was a teacher and Rector at St. John Vianney Preparatory Seminary from 1976 
to 1982 while in residence at St. Angela Merici, St. Ann's, and St. Francis 
Xavier parishes. He was assigned to assist the Baton Rouge Diocese at Christ 
the King Catholic Student Center at LSU, where he ministered from 1982 to 1984. 
He was appointed Vice-Chancellor for Spiritual Affairs by Archbishop Hannan in 
1984.

While fulfilling his duties at the Chancery, he was in residence at St. Clement 
of Rome and later Our Lady of the Rosary parish. He was named a Prelate of 
Honor (Monsignor) by the Holy Father in 1988. In 1989 he was appointed Pastor 
at Holy Family parish in Franklinton. He later served as Pastor at St. Lawrence 
the Martyr parish in Kenner and St. John the Baptist parish in Paradis, where 
he served for the past thirteen years. He became Chaplain at Nelson Coleman 
Correctional Center in St. Charles Parish in 2007.

He was most recently installed as Pastor at St. Hubert's parish in Garyville, 
an assignment he had sought and where he ardently desired to serve until his 
retirement. 

Fr. Jim is survived by his siblings, Ernest C. Moragne (wife: Rose), Viola 
(Vikki) Orman (husband: Bernie), Daniel L. Moragne, F. Thomas Moragne (wife: 
Peggy), Paul J. Moragne (wife: Tisa), Dr. Martha (Candy) Moragne Turner 
(husband: Dr. Joseph). He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews: Dawn 
Moragne, Cammie Moragne Perry, Angie Nelson Muko, Wendy Nelson, Jason Moragne, 
Lisa Moragne Bartels, Bridget Moragne Buccaran, Paul A. Moragne, Jason Turner 
and Michael Turner. He is also survived by great-nieces and great-nephews Julie 
Perry, Olivia Perry, Natalie Perry, Amber Muko, Devon Muko, JP Muko, Amanda 
Nelson, Matthew Bartels, Michael Bartels, Taylor Buccaran, and Chase Buccaran, 
and by his loving and devoted aunt, Peggy McGregor and her family with whom Fr. 
Jim shared many happy memories. 

Fr. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest C. and Viola D. (McGregor) 
Moragne and three siblings: Michael Frank, Pierre Gerard, and John Patrick. 

Funeral arrangements include a wake and rosary at St. Hubert's in Garyville on 
Wednesday evening, October 8, 2008 from 7 pm to 9 pm. A wake will be held at 
St. John the Baptist Church in Paradis on Thursday, October 9, 2008 from 10 am 
until a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm, the Most Reverend Archbishop 
Alfred C. Hughes officiating. Burial at St. Joseph's Abbey in St. Benedict will 
be private.

Norma "Mary" O'Reilly Moate, age 80, was taken to the Lord's house peacefully 
on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 after suffering a massive stroke on Monday, Sept. 
16, 2008.

She was born and raised in New Orleans and lived in Luling the last 34 years. 
She graduated from UNO with a bachelor's degree in fine arts and from LSU with 
a master of fine arts degree.  Mary truly loved being an artist and had a deep 
connection with the beauty in nature and shared that with others through her 
art. She won many awards with her art and taught numerous art workshops in 
south Louisiana.

Mary exhibited her art for many years at Anglade-Barthelemy Gallery on Royal 
Street. Mary helped run an art camp for children several summers that was 
funded by a grant that she co-authored.  She was an active member of the St. 
Charles Art Guild, First Union Presbyterian Church, St. Tammany Art 
Association, West Bank Art Association, a local stock club, bridge club, and 
book club.  She was a signature member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society. 

Mary is preceded in death by her husband George David Moate (April 22, 2004) 
and her parents; John O'Reilly and Norma Mock O'Reilly.  

She is survived by her sister Patricia O'Reilly Scott (spouse John); her 
children; Dekki Moate, George Moate (spouse Sharon), Mary Jane Payne (spouse 
"Rocky"), Patricia Ellis, Michael Moate; grandchildren; Kathryn Ellis, Jon 
Ellis, Chelsey Payne, Corey Payne; Wisty Cruz, and Andrew Norris; and her cat 
CC.  

Family and friends were invited to a celebration of Mary's life and witness to 
the resurrection at First Union Presbyterian Church at 10 am on Saturday, Sept.

Blake was a Researcher on the faculty of Johns Hopkins University. Blake was a 
fiercely loyal and passionate character with a smile that instantly charmed. He 
was as quick to protect his family as he was to engage in a philosophical 
debate. He relished the simple pleasures in life, such as swinging with his 
grandfather, late-night walks with his dog, and renting obscure movies with his 
girlfriend.

He was a lifelong commercial crab fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors.

Roland Paul Bernard went to meet the Lord on Tuesday, Aug.12, 2008.
He was 85 years of age and lived a full and happy life. 

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following service 
to his country, he began his surveying career which spanned 55 years. 

Throughout the years he touched many hearts with his generosity and love. 

He was preceded in death by parents, Eddie and Lucille Bernard, and his seven 
brothers and sisters. 

He is survived by three children; Michael D. Bernard, Katherine M. Bernard and 
Tricia A. Bernard and five grandchildren, Bethany B. Ayuso, Kenneth P. 
Dempster, Jr., Kerry M. Dempster, Mallory C. Muller, and Matthew J. Muller; two 
great grandchildren, Michael Ayuso and Kayden Dempster. 

Visitation was held at the Holy Family Church in Luling on Thursday, Aug. 14 
from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial was be held at 10 a.m. from 
the church. Burial followed at St. Charles Cemetery Mausoleum. A celebration of 
Roland's life took place at Occasions on Highway 90, immediately following the 
burial.

Sidney James "Snake" Matherne, a native of Evergreen and a resident of 
Destrehan, for the past 55 years, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 
2008 at the age of 83.

Husband of 57 years to his beloved wife the late Ruth T. "Bobbie" Matherne. Son 
of the late Jules C. and Idee G. Matherne. Brother of AnnaLee M. Verrett of 
Baton Rouge, the late Lawrence J. Matherne, Mildred M. Martin and Edith M. 
Tarullo. Father of Sydney M. Martin, Eldon and wife Cheryl, Ronald, Mitchell, 
and Jimmy and wife Barbara. Grandfather of 16 grandchildren; great-grandfather 
of 17 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandfather of 1 great-great-
grandchild. 

Special thanks to the staff of Ormond Nursing Home for the care given to him 
over the years. 

Sidney served in the Navy Seabees from 1943 to 1946 as a member of the 128th 
Navconstbatt.

Frank H. "Pancho" Ernest, Jr. died on May 18 at 4:30 p.m. Native of McFadden 
Ranch Texas and resident of Luling. Age 79. 

Survived by wife of 56 years, Dorothy W. Ernest; son Kevin Ernest and his wife 
Missy; daughers Darla E. McBroom and husband Randy, and Dana E. Hull and 
husband George; sister Dorthy Williams and seven grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents Frank H. and Grace G. Ernest, Sr.; son Orion 
Ernest and sister Elouise Stanzel. 

Frank was a member of the U.S.M.C., U.S. Army, and served during WWII and the 
Korean War. Frank enjoyed woodworking and yardwork. He was retired from Union 
Carbide and The Times Picayune.

at St. Charles Parish Hospital, Luling. Age 50. 

A native of lifelong resident of Destrehan. He was a Deckhand with Gnots Fleet 
and of the Catholic faith. 

Son of MaryBelle Badeaux of Destrehan. Father of Hope Marie Badeaux of Mansura, 
Brother of Ralph Badeaux of Destrehan, Jeffrey (wife, Josie) Badeaux of St. 
Rose,  Lolan (wife, Maria) Badeaux of Destrehan,  and Lori (husband, Chris) 
Duplessis of Montz. Grandfather of Dwayne, Hailey, Cash and Austin. Also 
survived by a number of nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by his father, Loland J. Badeaux, Jr. 

A member of St. Charles Borromeo Choir and former groundskeeper at the St. 
Charles Cemetery. Loved nature and camping. A history buff on the Mississippi 
River. 

Visitation Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 
Destrehan from 9:00 a.m. until time of Religious Services at 11:00 a.m. 
conducted by Fr. Monsignor Harry Bugler. Interment St. Charles Cemetery,

Leopold Baptist Borne, Jr., sandblaster-painter for Shell Chemical, died on 
Monday, March 24, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at his residence of 7 years in Ponchatoula 
Age 82. 

A native of Edgard and had lived in Norco for the past 56 years.

He was a seaman first Class in the Korean War in the Navy and was a Catholic. 

Survivors: wife, Ursula H. Borne of Ponchatoula, LA; 3 sons: Robert J. (wife, 
Felicia) Borne, Sr. of Montz, Keith F. Borne of Norco,  and Brent J. Borne of 
Montz; 2 daughters: Shannon (husband Terry) O'Pry of Ponchatoula, and Alaine 
Borne of Ponchatoula, LA; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents: Leopold Borne, Sr. and Denise Borne; siblings: 
Denise Borne, Claire Guidry, Eddie Borne, Theodore Borne, Roger Borne and 
Whitney Borne. 

He was a member of the American Legion, loved to fish and hunt and he was a 
citrus farmer and grew a variety of fruit trees.

Herbert J. Naquin passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 3:03 p.m. at the age 
of 78. He was a resident of Norco.

He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Shell in Norco for 38 years and was 
in the Army as a PFC.

Survivors include his wife: Shirley Hebert Naquin of Norco. Also survived by 3 
sons: Kenneth Paul (wife, Amy Blice) Naquin of Jonesboro, Ark., Keith Gerard 
(wife, Jacqueline Veron) Naquin of Lutcher and Bert Charles (wife, Robin 
Kilgore) Naquin of Hattiesburg, MS.; two daughters: Annette Naquin (husband, 
David 'R.D.') Womer of Ponchatoula and Robin Naquin (husband Dr. Kent) Mauduit 
of LaPlace, brother, Ray Naquin of Norco, and two sisters: Vernell White of 
Hammond and Thelma Oubre of Gramercy. 

Preceded in death by: parents, Nelson and Andrea Naquin; three brothers: 
Edward, Sidney and Louis Naquin; sister, Annie Mae Louque and grandson, Brad 
David Womer.

A devoted husband for 53 years and a devoted father, Parishoner and faithful 
servant of Sacred Heart Church. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. until time of 
Religious Services at 11:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norco.
Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan.

Edmond 'White' Comardelle passed away on Monday, March 17, 2008 at age 74.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman who lived his whole life along the bayou he 
loved, both at Comardelle Village and Bayou Gauche. 

He is survived by his wife, Edith M. Comardelle, his daughter, Patty Riley, 
son-in-law, James Riley, M.D., two granddaughters, Amber Guillot and Laural 
Bowers, three great grandchildren, Nicholas Guillot, Dylan Guillot and John 
Bowers IV. He is also survived by sisters, Enola Simon and Leona Dufrene and a 
brother, Jimmie  Comardelle. 

Preceded in death by parents Antoine and Elvira A. Comardelle and brother 
Jessie Comardelle. In addition, he has a multitude of friends and relatives who 
consider him as a second father. 

Visitation was at Falgout Funeral Homes, 3838 Highway 1, Raceland. Burial 
followed at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche.

Williams, Lisa Williams Johnson (Kenneth) and Trina Williams Brignac (John, 
Sr.). Brother of Evelina Jackson, Shirley Green, Orelia Butler, Morris 
Williams, Sr., the late Elnora Morris, Thomas Williams, Reuben Williams, Otis 
Williams, Samuel Williams and Clementine Williams. Grandfather of Trae,

was employed at E.I. Dupont for over 42 years.

Glay Hood Collier passed away on Saturday, Feb., 23, 2008 at the age of 72.

He is the beloved husband of Sandra Carlisle Collier.  Loving father of Glay 
Hood Collier, II, of Shreveport, La., Gary Carlisle Collier of Los Angeles, 
Ca., Jack Stodghill Collier of Slidell, La, Keith Davis Collier of 
Jacksonville, FL.  and Deborah Kay Collier Tatum of Laplace La. Son of the late 
John Ashston Collier and Gladys Blust Collier, of New Orleans, La. Brother of 
Betty Collier Castigliola, of Gautier, Miss, Edward Wilhite Collier of 
Mandeville, La and the late Florence Collier Plescila, John "Buddy" Collier and 
Jack Fredrick Collier. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Glay was born on April 24, 1935 in New Orleans, La. He graduated from Warren 
Easton High School in 1953, the year girls were allowed to attend. He served in 
the Signal Corp of the United States Army during the Korean War as a SP.5. For 
over 40 years he serviced many of the local restaurants and seafood markets of 
New Orleans and through the Louisiana and Mississippi area and was the proud 
owner of Colliers Fisheries in Bayou Des Allemands for over 32 years. He was a 
founding member of the Louisiana State Seafood Association and introduce 
various new seafood products to the greater New Orleans area. 

He is a 7 year and 2 month survivor of a Lung Transplant and his courage and 
fighting determination is and always will be an inspiration to his family, 
friends and other patients. The family wishes to express their deepest 
appreciation to Ochsner Lung Transplant Unit and ICU for the thoughtful and 
compassionate care that they provided for our loved one during the last 7 years 
and 2 months of his life. 

He will always be missed and his loving spirit will always be in our hearts. 
May God bless and hold him with love on his journey to heaven to be with those 
who have passed on before us. We look forward to the day when our spirits will 
all be together in the life hereafter.

Kelly Clifton Carroll passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 at River Region 
Hospice.

He was born March 16, 1919 in Okolona, Ark. The son of the late Maudie and 
Dexter Kelly. 

Survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy Morris Kelly. 
The loving father of three sons, Tommy Kelly, deceased, Steve Kelly and Wayne 
Kelly. Also survived by daughter-in-law, Debrah Kelly and Kathleen Wilkins. One 
grandson Brandon Kelly and wife Jennie.

Survived by one sister, Sue Morehead of Southaven, MS, one brother John Kelly, 
deceased, and several nieces and nephews. 

Clifton was a veteran of World War II, having served 37 months and 16 days in 
the South Pacific. A native of Okolona, Ark and a resident of Luling since 
1954. He retired from Monsanto in July 1981.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend Religious Services at Luling 
Methodist Church on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 at 10 a.m. Visitation began  at 8 
a.m. with burial at St. Charles Cemetery.

after a lengthy illness on January 18, 2008. Ms. Tucker was 73 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Tucker.  

Alice is survived by 5 children; Dr. Mike Tucker, wife Teresa, of  Lehigh 
Acres, Florida; Debbie Tucker, husband  Richard Koerner, of  Jacksonville, 
Florida,  Dianna Lauve, husband Russell, of Luling, Louisiana;  Darlene 
Gaubert, husband Kenny, of Gautier Mississippi, and Dorothy Cuccia, husband 
Jay, of Metairie, Louisiana. 

She was also a proud grandmother of Heather, Dustin, Chelsey and Kasee Tucker, 
Brandi and Brock Gaubert, Candace and Carlee Lauve and Michael, Connor and 
Caroline Cuccia.  

A private ceremony was held in Jacksonville, Florida.

A native of El Centro, Calif. and a resident of Luling, she was a beloved wife,

She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Amedee; her daughter, Stacie 
Lynn Amedee; her sons, Steven C. Amedee, wife, Danielle, and Kelly J. Amedee, 
wife Teri; Her grandchildren, Jordan, Brock, Bryce, Nicole and Rachel Amedee; 
her sister, Mary S. Holbrook, husband, John; and her brother, Darryl Stroh, 
wife, Judy.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Max and Kathryn Steele Stroh.

the age of 85.

daughter-in-law, James Craig Becnel and Catherine Ory Becnel; two daughters and 
one son-in-law Beatrice Chris Pratt and Douglas Anthony Pratt and Kit Anne 
Becnel; two brothers, Joseph Sydney Becnel, Jr. and Peter Harry Becnel; three 
sisters, Grace Marie Keller, Theresa Marie Weber, and Mary Ann Braud; four 
grandchildren, Celeste Ann Bourdonnay, Bridget Catherine Lee, Jared James 
Becnel, and Chea Michelle Matherne; two great grandchildren Hanna Rene' 
Bourdonnay and Caleb Anthony Lee. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Syndey Becnel, Sr. and Marie Bossier 
Becnel; two sisters; and three brothers.

A graduate of Destrehan High School and Delgado Community College. A U.S. 
Airforce Veteran of WWII, a Sergeant of 737H. Air Material Squadron, 9th-Air 
Force. His tour bringing him through Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and 
Central Europe. He received the ATO Medal, EAMETO Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 
and WWII Victory Medal. A Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus St. 
Charles Parish Council, former Fire Chief of St. Charles Parish, Community 
volunteer, retired employee of Shell Oil Refinery with 42 .5 yrs of service, a 
member of Bayou Campers  from 1972-2007, and a loving father and devoted 
husband.

Visitation was on Friday, Dec.  28, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 
Norco, LA from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Entombment 
followed in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan, LA.

Charlotte Madere and her husband Roy. Uncle of Miranda Madere, Jordan and Chase 
Petit. A native of Ama, LA and a resident of Bayou Gauche, LA. Age 47 years.

Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the funeral. 
Religious Services on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at 7 p.m. at Falgout Funeral 
Homes, 3838 Highway 1, Raceland, LA. Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on 
Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at Falgout Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Capital One Bank in the name of 
Darryl Petit. All donations will be given to St. Jude Childrens Research 
Hospital.

Eve L. Pollet entered into eternal life on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at 1:39 
p.m. at her home in New Sarpy surrounded by loving family and friends.

Beloved mother of Lionel (L.J.) Pollet Sr. and wife Angela Murray Pollet of New 
Sarpy, Ferrin Pollet of New Sarpy, and Terrie Pollet and Robert Witt of Hot 
Springs, AR. Grandmother of Lionel Jr., Kayla and Joshua Pollet, Michael and 
Phillip Pollet and Anna George. Sister of Leona L. Loupe and husband Kermit 
Loupe Sr. of Edgard, LA and Patrick Landry and wife Charlotte Landry of 
Leavenworth, KS. Sister-in-law of Avis Landry of Norco, LA, Doris Rizzuto of 
Harahan, LA, and dear friend Alda Hubbard of New Sarpy, LA. Eve is also 
survived by host of nieces, nephews and friends. 

Preceded in death by husband, Guy Pollet Jr., daughters Laurie A. Pollet and 
Paula A. Pollet, parents Lionel and Odelia Weber Landry, brother Jeril Landry, 
Louis (Billy) Landry and Lionel Landry Jr. 

Eve was 70-years-old, and a member of St Matthias Neo-Chatecumenate Community 
and a long time employee of the Destrehan Postal Service.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend the visitation at St. Charles 
Borromeo Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 from 7 p.m. till Mass of 
Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. on Saturday Dec. 22, 2007. Conducted by Father 
John Cisewski. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charity of choice.
