FREDERICK

Lucien Emile Frederick Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2010, on 
his 90th birthday; he was bom in 1920. 

He was a native of New Orleans, a long-time resident of Destrehan, and recently 
a resident of Folsom.

He was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country as a member of the 
United States Navy. His tour of duty in the war was at the submarine base in the 
Aleutian Islands at Dutch Harbor, Alaska. As a pioneer recycler long before it 
became popular, he often employed his machinist and carpentry talents to 
transform found objects into useful items, like the copper fire hose nozzles 
that were reincarnated into beautiful hanging carriage lamps.

His friends and neighbors often enjoyed the bounty of his avid gardening 
efforts. He grew the loveliest camellias and the sweetest kumquats in south 
Louisiana. He was happy to talk to anyone at anytime about anything: some call 
it the gift of gab,  and he was extra blessed in this talent. 

He is survived by six sons: Lucien E. Frederick Jr. (Stella), William R. 
Frederick (Reggi), Mark W. Frederick (Athena), Raymond N. Frederick DVM, Paul G. 
Frederick, Joseph M. Frederick (Gale); four granddaughters: Patricia A. 
Frederick PhD, Jeanne M. Frederick, Barbara E. Vittitoo (Bob), Sharon M. 
Frederick; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a host of loving 
family members, cherished friends, and his faithful canine companion "Tippy." He 
was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Lois G. Murphy Frederick; 
two brothers: Russell Frederick, Harry Frederick, and sister, Ada Dupre.

A graveside service was held on April 17, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic 
Church cemetery in Destrehan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alexander Milne Home 
for Women, 616 East l9th Street, Laurel, Miss 39440.
