Cambre, Sr entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 6:00 AM. Age 80 years and a lifelong resident of Norco, LA. Beloved husband of 52 years to Jean Marie Louviere Cambre. Father of Rodney L. Cambre, Jr., Michelle C. Duhe (Doyle), Andre E. Cambre (Leslie), Denise A. Cambre, and Carey C. Rochelle (George). Brother of Carolyn C. Alleman (Late: Dr. Earl Alleman), Dr. Robert G. Cambre (Janice), Harold A. "Cooney" Cambre (Diane), Patricia C. Walters, and late Maurice J. Cambre, Jr. (Camille). Son of the late Maurice J. Cambre, Sr., and Hilda Gabb Cambre. Grandfather of Cameron, Aaron, Clayton, and Caroline Cambre, George, Shelby, and Abby Rochelle, Meredith and Michael Duhe. Rodney retired from Shell Oil Refinery of Norco after more than 30 years of service. He was a US Army Corporal and served during the Korean War, a member of the Norco Area Volunteer Fire Department and served as Fire Chief for several years. He was past president of the River Road Historical Society, former board member of the Port of South Louisiana, parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion Post 195, Knights of Columbus Council 3634, and an avid LSU football fan. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 401 Spruce Street, Norco, LA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan, LA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Alzheimer's Association, 2405 River Rd, Jefferson, LA 70121. Special thanks to Angela Anderson, the staff of Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home and Serenity Hospice for their love, kindness and support shown to Rodney during his illness.
