Charles transitioned from this life to eternal glory on Feb. 5, 2011 at his home with his family at his side. He was a retired Naval Chief Petty Officer and the pastor of The First Baptist Church of Paradis for the past 29 years until passing on the mantel of ministerial leadership to his 1st assistant in December 2009. With heart for God's people and a humble spirit, he was regarded as a respected icon to the local and neighboring community as well as abroad. He is survived by his wife, Mable Charles, his children: Betty Brown, Keith and Patricia Charles, Adeline (June) Calhoun and Arianne (James) Campbell; sisters, Shirley Charles and Ruby Wells, an aunt, Josephine Augustus, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Charles and Adeline Charles Causey. All clergy & churches are invited to attend the jubilant homegoing celebration on Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Paradis,14571 Old Spanish Trail in Paradis. Viewing will be from 8-10:30 a.m. with Rev. Lionel Mason officiating. Interment will follow at the First Baptist Church of Paradis cemetery. ===================
