He was the beloved husband of Rose Mary Landaiche Haydel for 68 years and son of the late Jean Baptiste Octave Haydel and Elvina Tregre Haydel. He was preceded in death by Octave Joseph Haydel Jr., Lester J. Haydel Sr., Elta H. Miller, Leah Mae H. Cristina, Hilda H. Hazard and Antoinette M. Haydel. Robert was a graduate of La. School for the Deaf in Baton Rouge. In his lifetime, he was employed by Merita Bakery, Leidenheimer Bakery and the U.S. Postal Service. He and his wife were active members of St. Gerard Deaf Community, parishioners of Blessed Selos Catholic Church, and past King and Queen of their Mardi Gras Ball. The family extends a special thanks to the Ormond Nursing Home staff and employees who took special care of him. A funeral mass was held at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp on Oct. 29 with Fr. Joseph A. Benson officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories Cemetery ===================
