He was a retired Supervisor with Homeland Security, Kenner Police Department, and St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office. He was a lifetime member of the Norco Area Volunteer Fire Department, Knights of Columbus Red Church Council 3634, Fourth Degree Archbishop Blenk Assembly Number 318 and Blue Knights Louisiana XII. He also was a graduate of Destrehan High School and Delgado College with honors. He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Barbara Smith Barreca and loving daughter, Laurie and son, James Barreca. Son of the late Thomas Barreca, Sr. and Frances McKnight. Brother of Clara Perret (Tony), Thomas "Tommy" (Denise) Barreca, Jr., Ida and Frances Barreca, the late Sal Barreca, the late Emile Barreca. Father-in-law, James Smith, mother-in-law, Bessie Smith. Sister-in-law, Sandra Hill (Craig) and brother-in-law, Jim Smith. Best friends, Joe and Jeanette Ledet, countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 9:00 am until 11:45 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norco. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon at the church with Fr. Terry Becnel and Fr. John Marse officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Mausoleum in Destrehan.
