Leo Joseph McGovern, Sr., age 83, passed away at his home in Destrehan on 
Saturday, May 26, 2012. 

He was a retired operator with the Public Sewage and Water Board in New 
Orleans, a veteran United States Naval Seaman with the USS Dixie, member of the 
Joint Task Force One Atomic Bomb Test Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands.

Husband of the late Josephine Chiarello McGovern, son of the late, Irene Norris 
and Charles McGovern, father of Leo J. McGovern, Jr. (Carol), Bryan M. 
McGovern, Sr. (Roxanne), Frank C. McGovern, Sr. (Kay) and Kirk D. McGovern 
(Lisa). Brother of Harold and Theodore McGovern, Carol McGovern Albano and the 
late Charles McGovern, II. 
Ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous friends.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
