Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stcharles/photos/obits/2012 and click on the name of interest. ========== Charles (Buddy) Ray Simon, Sr. of Destrehan, LA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband and best friend of 60 years to Loretta Rousselle Simon. Devoted father of Charles "Chipper" Simon (Peggy), Linda Famularo (Kerry), Glenda Simon, Susan Lowry (Johnny), David Simon (Karla), Paul Simon (Kathleen) and Sharon Nicosia (Jeff). Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren, who all were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noemie Weber Simon and Edwin George Simon. He was also preceded in death by sister, Betty Simon Hatfield and brother, Edwin Simon. Survived by brother, Ronnie Simon of Seminole, Florida. Buddy graduated from Destrehan High School, proudly served in the Korean Conflict, was a recipient of the Order of St. Louis Archdiocese of New Orleans Award and was an active member of the American Legion Post 195 and VFW Post 3337. He also served as a Red Cross Volunteer and devoted several hours a week to working with the "Sacred Heart Yard Boys". Buddy retired from Shell Oil Company after 42 years of service. He fully enjoyed family gatherings and sports, especially golf in his later years. He enjoyed meeting veterans, exercising, the outdoors and traveling. He lived life to its fullest and never met a stranger. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Norco, LA, on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 10:00 am to 11:45 pm. The funeral mass will begin at noon with Military Honors immediately following at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum in Destrehan, LA. In lieu of flowers, masses preferred or send donations in Buddy's name to the American Legion Post 195, 521 4th St., Norco, LA 70079.
