He was a Retail Manager with EZ Pawn Corporation for 15 years, an Eagle Scout Award Winner with the Boy Scouts, and received a Parks and Recreational Degree from Michigan State University. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Peggy Van Meter, son Christopher WilliamVan Meter (Elizabeth) and daughter Melinda Ordoyne, step-children; Kristin Jantovsky, Kevin Campbell (Teri), Heather Reis (Richard) and Matthew Campbell (Haley). Two sisters; Barbara Ward (Terry) and Bonnie Broersma (Ronald) and Aunt Geri Bowler. Fifteen grandchildren; Gavin and Edmund Van Meter, Robbie and Ava Ordoyne, Gregory, Erik (fiancé Jen Wemple) and Lance Cpl. Madalyn Jantovsky, Cassie Bean (Gerald), Heather LaLonde (Aaron), Katie Batson, Taylor Batson, Kacy Cambell, Hannah and Brady Reis and Liam Campbell. Five great-grandchildren; Jordan Bean, Matthew, Dakota and Alexia Jantovsky and Aiden LaLonde. He was preceded in death by his parents; Aldamae Hammond and Charles Van Meter. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at H. C. Alexander Funeral Home, 821 Fourth St., Norco, LA from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Tew officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Spring Lake, Michigan Arrangements are under the direction of H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco. ===================
