Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stcharles/photos/obits/2014 and click on the name of interest. ========== Samuel "Earl" Dean Jr. went to be with his Lord on Monday, April 21, 2014 in Luling, LA at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Enid Gassen Dean of 56 years. Loving father of Herbert Dean & wife Valerie and Keith Dean Sr. & wife Debbie. Grandfather (Daddy Earl) to Keith Dean Jr. (Caroline), Jason Dean (Sheri), Kristopher Dean (Connie), and Teresa Sanders (Seth), and great-grandfather to Austin & Ashlyn Dean, Kayleigh & Kolton Dean, and Coplen Sanders. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Earl Dean Sr. and Eunice Annie Cook Dean, of Orangeburg, S.C., and brothers Victor, Clyde, Everette, Rudolph, and Fletcher Dean. He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Kennerly. Earl proudly served in the U. S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 when he was honorably discharged. He retired from Gulf Oil Company in Buras, LA as a supervisor tankerman after 27 years of service. His favorite pastimes included fishing in the bayous and lakes of Louisiana, watching all types of sports, spending quality time with family and friends, and attending the men's Sunday morning bible class at the First Baptist Church where he was a member for many years. He will be sorely missed. Pall bearers will be Herbert Dean, Keith Dean Sr, Mark Gassen, Keith Dean Jr, Jason Dean, Kristopher Dean, and Austin Dean. Honorary pall bearer will be Perryl Gassen. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral service at the First Baptist Church, 921 Paul Maillard Rd. in Luling, on Friday, April 25th, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9-11.
