Luke 23:43 (ESV) Alice Mae Giroir Hymel was called to Heaven on January 27, 2014. She was born on November 17, 1928 and was 85 years old. She was surrounded by the love of her husband, children, and grandchildren during her final days and passed away peacefully in her home with her husband and jitterbug partner of 64 years, Norman "Cut" Hymel, by her side. Alice Mae is survived by her husband, Norman "Cut" Hymel; siblings, Elsie D'Arrensburg (sister) and John Kirby Giroir, Sr. (brother); four daughters, Norma Carruth (Sammy), Joan Trosclair (Ronnie, Sr.), Cindy Erwin (Jeff), and Allison McDonald (Todd); ten grandchildren, Joelle C. Perret (Matt), Kevin Carruth (Monica), Lauren C. Rayburn (Ryan), Nicole T. Lasserre (Guy), Danielle Trosclair, Ronnie Trosclair, Jr. (Ashley), Blake Trosclair (Melissa), Jill Erwin, Grant Erwin, and Amber McDonald; and ten great-grandchildren, Scott, Hunter, Kellan, Mason, Reed, Owen, Avery, Conner, Karsen, and Kendall. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alceé "Frenchie" and Ida Giroir and sister, Myrtle "Moon" Torres. Alice Mae was beloved by many and will be fondly remembered. She was a character to the end and loved to make people laugh. She loved to be surrounded by her grandchildren, and in recent years, her great-grandchildren and always had dollar bills on hand to give them. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Norco on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a mass immediately to follow. Entombment will follow at the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred or you can send donations to the American Heart Association.
