Honor, love, integrity and family summarize well the life of Harvey O. Wylie, 
86, devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and 
friend, who passed away comfortably in his sleep on June 13.

His long humble life began on Oct. 27, 1927, in Needles, Calif. His father 
Harvey Oliver (senior) passed away when he was a newborn and his mother 
Catherine raised he, his sister Laverne and twin siblings brother Jack 
(deceased) and sister, Geraldine (90), until her death when Harvey was in his 
early twenties.  

It was in New Orleans, in 1951, he swept Lois Gendron off her feet while 
dancing on the President. Later that year she became his bride of 62 years and 
he was blessed, in turn, by five children, Charlene, Debbie, Chuck, Dan and 
ReneeÕ, then grandchildren Ursula, Jennifer, Branden, Dylan, Roland and Kayla 
and again with great-grandchildren Kate, Michael, Robert and Jameson. 

He was preceded in death by grandson Justen.

Harvey served in the U.S Navy, stationed in Oakland, Calif., in the early 
1950s. He and his wife raised their family in Temple City, Calif. while he 
worked as an electrical salesman for Associated Wholesale Electric of Los 
Angeles. Upon retirement at age 50, he and his wife and youngest daughter, 
Renee,Õ moved to Houma where they called home and enjoyed the last 36 years.

Two words describe Harvey O. Wylie--Others First!  He was a man of Christian 
faith and lived his life with a servantÕs heart. A life marked by unwavering 
love and the highest level of caring. Harvey never acted to benefit himself, 
instead he gave unselfishly to others. A kind-hearted, caring man, who shared 
everything he had with others. He taught us how to love unconditionally, 
forgive, how to respect others, and the joy of giving. He never met a stranger. 
HarveyÕs passion was his wife and family. He was a special man who truly 
inspired others through his kindness, always helping anyone in need. He lived 
life to the fullest.  Harvey is now gone, but the wonderful memories of his 
life are ours to keep! He will be remembered as a incredible man with a 
willingness to always see the best in others!  

Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a military service at 10:30 a.m. and a 
Celebration Mass of HarveyÕs life will be held at 11 a.m. at Holy Family 
Catholic Church in Luling on Thursday, June 19. 

He will be placed in eternal rest at St Charles Cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of arrangements.
