True to her unique and strong nature, Collins passed into the next life with peace, dignity, and on her own terms. She is wife of the late, Lawrence Yeager Collins II for 39 years; loving mother of Patsy Collins Smith, husband A. Rodney Smith; Lawrence Y. Collins III, partner Eliete DeSouza; Deena Collins Aucoin, husband Cedric P. Aucoin; Tina Collins Estay, husband Johnny J. Estay. Grandmother of Laurie Lemee Fletcher, partner Mike J. Matherne; Matthew J. Estay, wife Megan Dupont Estay; Alison Collins Dziak, husband Justin E. Dziak; Rachel Elizabeth Aucoin, with whom she shared a birthday; Wilkson DeSouza; Ethan L. Collins; Anthony LaGuardia; Kallie Lynn Collins; and Aaron L. Collins. Collins was also great-grandmother of Elizabeth Grace Fletcher and Lydia Rose Estay. For us, Thanksgiving will forever be redefined as a time to celebrate our mother. By example, she taught us to always do right by others even when it was the tough choice to make and instilled in us that learning was a lifelong journey. Mother left an indelible mark on all of her children and how lovely it will be to see it peek through in the many generations of grandchildren to come. Like ripples through the universe, she will live forever in us all. Collins was born in Seabrook, Texas, and at the time of her passing resided in Hahnville. Her father was James Monroe Porter and her mother was Irene Sims Porter. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Dewey “D.L.” Burkes and Andrew “Jack” Burkes Jr. and brother-in-law, Wilbert “Red” G. Powell; sister-in-law to Fayma Moulder Burkes, sister of Louise Burkes Powell and “Billy” Levi S. Porter, wife Shirley Hood Porter. At a later date her cremated remains will be interred next to her father in the Seabrook Cemetery with a graveside celebration. Those who knew Patsy could not help but agree with the Bard, William Shakespeare, himself “And though she be but little, she is fierce.” ===================
